KUALA LUMPUR – Former Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu will officially announce his return to politics on Sunday (Aug 9), making good on his earlier pledge to re-enter the political arena after stepping away from frontline politics.

The former DAP strongman and ex-Pandamaran and will reveal both his political comeback and the party he will be joining at a press conference.

Liu, however, has kept the identity of his new party under wraps.

While he has declined to offer any hints ahead of the announcement, political observers have speculated that Sabah-based Warisan and Bersama are among the most likely destinations.

The announcement comes months after Liu told Scoop Insight podcast that he was preparing to return to active politics, insisting that he still had much to contribute despite leaving DAP.

During the podcast, Liu said he had no intention of retiring from public life and remained committed to championing issues affecting ordinary Malaysians.

He also stressed that his political journey was far from over, saying he still believed in fighting for good governance, justice and accountable leadership.

Liu was a prominent figure in DAP for decades before parting ways with the party after a series of disagreements with its leadership. He served as Selangor executive councillor and represented Pandamaran for three terms, earning a reputation as one of the party’s outspoken leaders.

His return is expected to generate interest across the political divide, particularly as parties continue positioning themselves ahead of the next general election.

All eyes will now be on Sunday’s announcement to see which platform Liu believes will offer him the opportunity to continue his political career. – August 4, 2026

Voters are angry, wallets are empty, and patience is running out. Negeri Sembilan’s result is a blunt warning: ignore everyday struggles, and no government — not even PH — can count on loyalty

THE phrase, famously coined by James Carville during Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, was a reminder that voters ultimately make political choices based on the issues that affect their everyday lives, especially their economic well-being. More than three decades later, it remains relevant and the Negeri Sembilan election has demonstrated why.

PH has held Negeri Sembilan since 2018. Yet this election saw turnout rise from 68.4% in 2023 to 72.6%, with voters coming out in greater numbers and delivering a clear message by backing BN/PN.

The message is simple: people are struggling, and they are angry.

A July Vodus survey found that 55% of Negeri Sembilan voters ranked the cost of living as their top concern, followed by jobs and wages at 34% and housing at 26%. The government may point to GDP growth and impressive economic indicators, but ordinary Malaysians are asking a much simpler question: Why aren’t we feeling it in our wallets?

Families remain squeezed by rising prices, inadequate wages and limited savings. SARA assistance may provide temporary relief, but it cannot compensate for an economy that fails to provide decent, sustainable incomes. Healthcare costs add another burden. These concerns were raised repeatedly during our engagements with NGOs in Negeri Sembilan.

The same is true for gig workers. The Gig Workers Act continues to classify them as independent contractors rather than employees, while social protection is largely funded from their own earnings. For a young and increasingly precarious workforce, this is hardly the meaningful protection they were promised.

The Indian community also sent a clear message to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Indians make up 14.9% of Negeri Sembilan’s 889,490 voters – the highest proportion of any state. Their numbers exceed 20% in 11 seats and reach roughly a third of the electorate in Jeram Padang.

Our engagements with NGOs indicated that many were satisfied with the state government but wanted to send a message to the federal leadership. The temple controversy, the dismissive response to the matriculation student and the broader perception that Indian support has been taken for granted have clearly taken a toll.

BN/PN, meanwhile, successfully mobilised Malay voters around the politics of Malay unity, with DAP positioned as the bogeyman and ketuanan Melayu presented as the answer to Malay grievances. PH cannot counter this politics by simply assuming that voters will remain loyal.

More worrying is that PH itself appears to have lost its reform compass. Its handling of corruption, the Azam Baki controversy and the growing influence of corporate and labour cartels have eroded confidence among middle-class voters and many of its traditional supporters. The reformasi promise that brought people into the streets and to the ballot box is increasingly being replaced by political expediency.

Anwar and PH must understand this: voters are not stupid, and they are not loyal forever.

The Negeri Sembilan result is not simply about one election. It is a warning that economic hardship, broken promises and political arrogance will eventually catch up with any government.

The window to act is closing. The next general election is no longer a distant political event.

The arrest of a Malaysia Airlines pilot in Jakarta has thrown a harsh spotlight on security procedures at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

On 28–29 July 2026, the 39-year-old pilot, identified as Mohd Saufi bin Othman, operated flight MH727 from KLIA to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Indonesian customs officers intercepted him after an X-ray flagged his suitcase. Inside they found more than 70,000 ecstasy tablets weighing about 25–26 kg, plus a small quantity of methamphetamine.

A urine test returned positive for methamphetamine, MDMA and cocaine, leading authorities to conclude he had flown the passenger aircraft while under the influence. He was also carrying a vial of clean urine, apparently prepared to defeat future drug tests.

Crucially, the pilot had cleared all airport and airline security checks at KLIA before departure. Malaysia’s Border Control and Protection Agency confirmed that mandatory pre-departure screenings of both the pilot and his luggage detected nothing suspicious.

This failure is particularly damaging. Modern airports rely on advanced X-ray systems equipped with extensive template libraries and artificial-intelligence detection. That such a large consignment of drugs passed through suggests either technical shortcomings or, more worryingly, human complacency or inadequate secondary inspection.

The episode is especially costly for KLIA’s and Malaysia Airlines’ reputations. The airline still carries the heavy historical burden of two catastrophic losses of MH370 and MH17. Any perceptions of weakened safety culture could compound to public unease. Indonesian officials have indicated the pilot could face the death penalty by firing squad if convicted under the country’s strict narcotics laws.

This case does not stand alone. It forms part of a noticeable rise in Malaysians being arrested as drug mules across the region.

On 31 July 2026, three Malaysian men were detained at Hat Yai Railway Station in Thailand with 87 kg of crystal methamphetamine hidden in luggage and backpacks. One admitted they had been recruited by a syndicate and promised RM8,000 each; the haul was valued at roughly RM4.3 million.

In Japan, recent years have seen multiple arrests of Malaysians smuggling stimulants, including a June 2025 case at Sendai Airport involving 9.2 kg of drugs impregnated in wet wipes and a May 2025 ketamine seizure at Fukuoka Airport.

Australia has recorded several cases too: a 66-year-old Malaysian charged in March 2026 at Sydney Airport with 5 kg of methamphetamine, and earlier large-scale plots involving Malaysians linked to shipments of MDMA, methamphetamine and “pink cocaine.”

Commercial pilots testing positive for illicit drugs while on duty remain extremely rare worldwide. Industry random-testing positive rates in jurisdictions such as the United States stay well below 1 per cent.

The Malaysia Airlines incident is therefore an outlier, but an alarming one. It underscores the need for more rigorous, unpredictable drug testing of flight crew and stricter oversight of airside access and baggage screening at KLIA.

Beyond the issue of narcotics, the same gaps raise legitimate concerns about other threats.

If large quantities of drugs can pass undetected, the possibility that explosives or other prohibited items could also slip through cannot be dismissed. The Malaysian government and airport operator now face a clear imperative: transparent audits of screening technology and staff performance, tighter crew-vetting protocols, and closer coordination with regional partners. Passenger confidence in KLIA’s security and Malaysia Airlines’ safety culture depends on decisive action rather than reassurance alone.

Russian officials say a Ukrainian drone strike damaged another Turkish cargo vessel in the Black Sea, marking the latest reported incident involving Turkish commercial shipping amid the expanding maritime conflict. Moscow also says a separate Ukrainian drone attack struck a beach resort in Russia, killing several civilians, including children, and wounding others. Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed responsibility for either strike.

The reported attacks come alongside an explosion at an upscale restaurant in Moscow that Russian investigators are treating as an act of terrorism. Russian officials have increasingly characterized Ukrainian cross-border drone strikes and sabotage operations as terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, while Ukraine has defended many long-range strikes as legitimate military operations intended to degrade Russia’s warfighting capabilities.

The incidents reflect the continued expansion of the war beyond traditional battlefield targets, with both sides accusing the other of violating the laws of armed conflict.

There is now a clear pattern. In what is perhaps the most damning sign that Ukraine has lost the war on the battlefield against Russia, it would appear that Kiev has fully embraced a campaign of terrorism against the civilians of Russia, as well as Russia’s allies.

Among a flurry of reports of acts of terrorism over the past week across Russia—including the bombing of an Italian restaurant in Moscow, where two Russian generals were allegedly dining—the most horrifying and outrageous account is that of a Ukrainian drone striking a beach resort in Gelendzhik, Russia, killing seven people including three children. Last week, another resort in Russia’s Zaporozhye Region was struck, killing twelve people including five children. (The Kremlin also applauded last week the “vital role” of First Lady Melania Trump in reuniting Russian and Ukrainian children with their families.)

We also have yet another Turkish cargo ship that was bombed some twenty miles off the coast of Russia, further affirming the theory that the Israeli government has recruited Kiev into opening up a new front against Turkey on the Black Sea.

Just last week, we saw the Deputy Speaker of the Russian Parliament give a public address where she accused the Ukrainian government of aiding child-trafficking operations online, revealing that a number of Ukrainian children have been sold on the dark web for tens of thousands of dollars, while another 60,000 children have been deported as war refugees without legal representation or proper due process. We also learned from Italian authorities that the Ukrainian government has been selling thousands of weapons to the Italian crime families — weapons that were most likely sent to Ukraine on the dime of the American taxpayer.

And, of course, we cannot forget the attempted assassination of a Ukrainian oligarch in Monaco last month by a Ukrainian intelligence officer — who was later murdered by one of her own colleagues. The Ukrainian oligarch is said to be a Russian sympathizer.

It is quite clear that the Deep State is using its Ukrainian proxy to wage a campaign of international terrorism against the Sovereign Alliance.

The violence can be found in Israel, as well. Yesterday, a group of religious Jews attacked an Armenian church in Jerusalem. The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the young religious Jews have openly described humiliating Christians as a religious duty.

Last month, the Washington Post published an interview with Nikodemus Schnabel, the abbot of the Dormition Abbey in Jerusalem. Schnabel said that Jewish violence against Christians in Israel has exploded, as the Jewish jihadists are emboldened to do so by the Netanyahu government.

In May, the Armenian Patriarchate said in an interview, “Spitting and humiliation are daily. People are afraid to walk in Jerusalem with Christian symbols.” In that same article, Rabbi Michael Henkin, one of the leaders of “the religious left,” affirms that this new violent ethos has developed in Israel, and the government doesn’t seem at all interested in stopping it. Henkin says that even Jews who are sympathetic toward Palestine are being targeted with this violence, reporting that even the Israeli police are beating these individuals and destroying their kippahs that are embroidered with the Palestinian flag.

It would seem that hatred has completely consumed certain segments of Israeli society, and those segments appear to have considerable influence over the State. A similar pattern against Christians can also be found in Ukraine, as Russian Orthodox churches have been shuttered and its clergy persecuted, under accusation of collaborating with the Kremlin.

There is an undeniable war being waged against the followers of Jesus, and the saddest part is that millions of American Christians—seduced by earthly masters—are choosing to side with Satan.

One thing is clear: The Deep State is desperate and lashing out like a cornered animal.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — A total of 46 road accident cases involving motorcyclists were recorded in a four-day period starting from July 30 to last Sunday, during the RXZ Members 8.0 programme.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali said that of the total, 11 cases or 23.91 per cent were fatal accidents, five cases (10.87 per cent) were serious accidents and 30 cases (65.22 per cent) were minor accidents.


He said that according to the daily breakdown, four cases were recorded on July 30, 16 cases (July 31), 11 cases (August 1) and 15 cases (August 2) involving a total of 44 male and two female victims.


“Analysis of the age profile found that the group aged between 21 and 30 recorded the highest involvement, namely 19 people, followed by the age group of 18 to 20 years (10), 41 to 50 years (nine) and 31 to 40 years (eight),” he said in a statement via the official JSPT Facebook today.


Muhammed Hasbullah said the analysis also found that the type of rear-end collision accident recorded the highest number with 21 cases, followed by skidding (15), side collision (seven) and vehicle grazing (three).


He said all 11 fatal accident cases were being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while five serious accident cases were being investigated under Section 43(1) of the same act and minor accident cases were being investigated under the provisions of the relevant Traffic Rules.

Muhammed Hasbullah said JSPT takes the number of fatal and serious accidents seriously, especially involving young motorcyclists seriously.


“Among the factors identified as contributing to accidents are negligence, failure to control the vehicle, following too closely and unsafe riding that can endanger oneself and other road users,” he said.

In this regard, Muhammed Hasbullah advised all motorcyclists to always obey the speed limit, maintain a safe distance, avoid uncontrolled group movement, do not race or perform dangerous actions and ensure that the motorcycle is in a safe condition before starting the journey.

He also recommended that organisers of motorcycle programmes or gatherings prepare an orderly movement plan, provide safety briefings to participants and cooperate with the authorities to reduce the risk of accidents. — Bernama

United States President Donald Trump announced “a historic agreement” on July 30 for the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, framed as the long-awaited move into the second phase of the October 2025 “ceasefire” deal.

The agreement was negotiated through the Board of Peace, established by Trump to oversee post-war reconstruction and governance of Gaza.

However, Hamas negotiator Ghazi Hamad told Al Jazeera the Palestinian group would not implement the deal unless Israel fulfilled its obligations, which include halting attacks and withdrawing troops.

A spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, meanwhile, said Israeli forces would not withdraw until Hamas was fully disarmed.

With that fundamental deadlock unresolved, Israeli attacks on Gaza, which have characterised the 10-month “ceasefire”, continued, arguably with even greater intensity. Within days of the announcement of the “historic agreement”, Israeli strikes killed at least 19 Palestinians in a single day, bringing the weekend death toll in Gaza to 26.

Board of Peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov condemned the escalation without naming Israel directly: “Two days of strikes across Gaza have killed civilians and destroyed medical supplies that people depend on,” he said.

The attacks capped a month that was the deadliest in Gaza this year, and the deadliest for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, in terms of Israeli settler attacks, since 2023.

SEREMBAN, Aug 4 — Three foreign labourers were killed while another was injured in a fight at Taman Linggi, Port Dickson, yesterday evening.


Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said his department received information from the public at about 4.15 pm about a fight involving Bangladeshi labourers who were colleagues at a plantation in the district.


“Upon receiving information, a police team from the Linggi police station rushed to the scene of the incident and arrested a fellow Malaysian man in his 40s who was suspected of being involved.


“The results of the initial investigation later led to the discovery of two more bodies in their 40s and 50s in the Sua Manggis plantation area, Linggi,” he said in a statement here today.


He said all the victims were confirmed dead due to serious injuries to several parts of the body, while another injured victim is receiving treatment at Rembau Hospital.

Alzafny said initial checks found that the suspect had no previous criminal record and was remanded for seven days by the Port Dickson Magistrate’s Court today and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder while the motive and chronology of the incident are still under investigation. — Bernama
