Pakatan's promises for popularity, not practicality - says Mahathir

NST - Guan Eng urged to rebuke Dr M on toll abolition statement (extracts):

WTF, that old man

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been challenged to rebuke Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who revealed recently that the opposition was only seeking popularity when it promised to abolish highway toll charges in their manifesto for the 14th general election.

Penang Barisan Nasional chairman Teng Chang Yeow said he found Guan Eng’s silence on the issue “strange”.

Dr Mahathir, had in an interview with Singapore’s Straits Times, published on March 25, said: “Sometimes, I feel we may not be able to fulfil our promises. Our party, our coalition partners, you know they are very socialistic – they like to give things to people.

“I told them it cannot be done. You want to remove all the tolls and make them free. I say, look, we have to maintain the roads. You have to build more roads.

“Where are you going to get the funds to maintain these roads? But, they want popularity, which is why they made that promise.

Teng said Guan Eng should issue a denial if such words were not uttered by Dr Mahathir. [...]

The issue of abolishing toll surfaced when the opposition promised, in its manifesto, to do so when it came to power but Dr Mahathir disagreed, saying it was a populist move.

Alas for Guan Eng, Mahathir has let the cat out of the bag, that Pakatan's promise of removing tolls is impractical and thus, unlikely to be carried out.

hey kitty kitty, wanna be a PKR candidate for Pandan

wakakaka

And I suspect, likewise with Pakatan's promise to remove the GST. It's crazy to do that.

It's sad that Guan Eng who I used to respect so much would do such a thing.

  4. Toll and GST free. What else? Education, Medical, Utilities, Transportation, subsidised Food, etc.

While we deliberate on whether it is possible or not, listed or not in manifestos etc the issue is

"Who has the will to do it and who does not"

I say it can be done, you say it cannot, experts crunch numbers and says cannot, I say it can be done.

Oil prices remain above RM 70, corruption stamped out, cronyism removed, wasteful subsidies removed, productivity doubled, unprofitable GLCs sold off, grants reduced etc etc and you be able to make dreams come true for all Malaysians.

It may not be immediately actionable and may take years but nothing is impossible if there is a dream and a will to do it.

If you can't see that, you do not have a Malaysian dream.

So, ask back and judge your politicians who has that Malaysian Dream?

Ya lor, why even bother ? Ktemoc would prefer ALL of us not voting for DUMNO to stay home play mahjong or just eat chapati and nasi lemak. And Ktemoc says he's a DAP supporter all this while, wakakakkaka. His kpi would exceed his sifu's if he continues on like this, hihihihi

    3. I may support the DAP, the old DAP to be precise, with people like the late Karpal Singh, Tan Seng Giaw, but not today's songsang so-called DAP people like the Lim father & son, plus some of the Hallelujah mob

    4. How do you stamp out cronyism and corruption when PH also practices the same?

How do you remove wasteful subsidies when your topdog promised to abolish all tolls, reinstate blanket subsidies again, free EPL, fee tertiary education, free water, and perhaps free Superman underwear?

How do you double productivity? Increase minimum wage to RM3000 so that companies only hire 1 person to do 2 jobs instead? Ever heard of the term 'karoshi'?

What the country needs is not endless pursuit of limitless money & wealth. A holistic approach of balanced lifestyle being neither too rich or too poor, yet high in morals and dignified in conduct. Worldly knowledgeable yet spiritually deep. Absolve yourself of wants and you will not want more. Only one party can fulfill all these requirements. Look to the Moon.

    2. See you also know how to say "when in power". So who give him power ? The same people from PKR, DAP, Amanah (I will leave out Bersatu, wakakaka.....) these are not the same spineless UMNO, MCA MIC Gerakan & those from East Malaysia so we have reason to believe he can't act like before.

Further at his age now, what is more important to him? Maybe his GOD change his (Tun) heart? Wakakaka.......

    3. What makes Kaytee thinks that the Black Cobra cannot be put back into the Basket when the music stops playing?

Whether in politics or any sphere of life, Karma always catches up with those who has sinned.

      Who is the Snake Charmer?

It cannot be the mesmerised "God, Glory or Power" party.

Neither can it be Amanah or within Bersatu.

It's left to the Angel behind bars weaving his Reformasi Wand and another Angel waving her Japanese Fan, isn't it?

Bring in the Lorries and Mattresses, self confessing LBGTs or whatnot again, whoever wins?

      Let's all kneel in prayers.

    4. "Further at his age now, what is more important to him?"
His sons future and the continuation of his legacy.
Mao's legacy died with him, but Kim Il-sung's legacy perpetuates thru Kim Jong-un. He learnt well about this.
