Why PAS clings on shamelessly to Pakatan Selangor

Remember Penang when PAS left Pakatan? Those ulama wanted to shamelessly cling on to state government appointments. Malulah.

And that was why Hadi Awang opposed local elections in Penang (of mainly urban areas). He knew no one would have voted for PAS.

Appointments by the state government was guaranteed. Being voted was also guaranteed but with zero outcome for PAS wakakaka.

Likewise now in Selangor. They are already out of Pakatan but sluttishly hang on to Azmin's ding-a-ling. Azmin syiok juga so both parties' hands are ... er ... well .. whacking each other ler, wakakaka.

By staying in government PAS has 2 aims, which are (i) to hang on to the state gravy train and (ii) to control through the exco and state appointments the mosques and kampung penghulus (all in preparation for the next election).

Azmin Ali is complicit in allowing PAS to do so.

Disband JAIS

JAIS has been notorious and oppressive for a number of issues including the NST reported incident some years ago of a JAIS officer in Gombak demanding a blowjob from a woman victim caught for alleged khalwat.

But JAIS has recently been criticised by the Appelate Court for illegally appropriating 26 acres of land belonging to a Chinese owned company UAE whose lawyer accused JAIS of racial oppression.

Why are we funding a useless department which acted illegally and racially? Non Muslim tax money should be considered haram in any funding of the JAN organizations and thus not touched on Islamic organization budgeting.

And what has Selangor MB Azmin Ali have to say about his state government paying part of the cost the Appelate Court has awarded to UAE for JAIS illegal act? The PAS exco in charge of state religious portfolio should be sacked kau kau.

Achilles heel

Every strong man has his vulnerable point like our legendary hero Achilles. Said hero was doused in the divine waters of the river Styx by his immortal mum Thetis to make his body invincible to weapons, but alas when plunging Achilles into the Styx she held him by one of his heels above the water which thus rendered that heel vulnerable. And so the legend tells us Achilles was slained by the arrow of Paris (or in his original name Alexander) which struck our hero right in that heel.

The biblical hero Samson had his strength in his hair. Cut those locks off and he became a weakling which sweetie Delilah did.

The Norse perfect immortal, the invincible Baldr (or Baldur), was killed by the puny mistletoe when nothing else could do so.

Our demon the Pontianak was vulnerable to iron nails.

Well, finally the so called Raja Bomoh has had his days in the state of Johor when no other Malaysian states with a JAN (eg. Jais Jawi Jakim etc) have the balls to touch him. I suspect HRH might have given the greenlight to arrest him. The police just did that. Perhaps his Achilles heel was his coconuts. Seize him by the nuts and he would be like Samson wakakaka.

I wonder what we can do with an Indian national wanted by his own country for alleged terrorist-related activities?

Give him Toddy and pretzel kucing? Wakakaka.

Siapa Gangster?

Dep Home Minister says Home and Education ministries will work closely to curb gangsterism in schools.

Perhaps they should start with the minister who started Lowyat2, a child of gangsterism.

Glass houses

While Dr Asri has been well respected, indeed even by non Muslim, his disdain for Hindu Indians has been known in which he expressed his dislike for Thaipusam processions particularly the rites of breaking coconuts which unfortunately has tainted his otherwise fair disposition.

His recent poem against cows worshippers (or what he claimed to be the Modi government) could only confirm his disdain of Hindus and their beliefs, and where his expressions were also in defence of an Indian national who is wanted by his own government for alleged terrorist-related activities.

How could a man wanted by his own government for terrorist-telated activities and where the charges carried non bailable terms be worthy of defending.

Besides that bloke is a foreigner. And why refer to him as "one of our preachers"?

It's not unlike some people who continue to defend Osama or who believe Malaysian notorious terrorist-bomber Dr Azahari is lily-white innocent or a good man.

A mass murderer innocent? Then I nust be the Shahanshah of Perlis.

We all have our own religious beliefs but to ignorantly term Hindus as cow worshippers is simplistic and shallow, ignoring the cultural, historical, agro-economic and social significance of the cow in Indian communities. It's like labelling followers of another religion as worshippets of a black stone or 2 crossed pieces of wood.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Abandonment of Pancasila by Jakartans?

In the land of Pancasila, not that of the original Buddhist Pancasila in India but rather of Indonesia, a Christian was charged for alleged blasphemy against Islam, notwithstanding the fact the country is NOT an Islamic nation.

Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, more popularly known as Ah Hok (which straightaway identifies him as a Chinese, and one who is a Christian) should be now somewhat relieved to learn he may not be jailed for his alleged offence of blasphemy, all because he has lost the gubernatorial election for Jakarta to his Muslim competitor Anies Baswedan.

Had he won the election he would possibly still be facing a nasty jail term.

Is this the fate of a non Muslim candidate downunder where a jail term awaits him or her if he or she does not lose to a Muslim competitor?

And f**k the tenets enshrined in that country's national ideology which Indonesians supposedly revered.

I wonder from who those Indon ulama learn how to misuse and abuse the great religion of Islam for political gains?

Siapa Raja?

Unilaterally converting children into being Muslims is both robbing the cradle and one's erstwhile partner (spouse).

The great religion of Islam does not condone such shameful acts. Everything must be done in accordance with the rules Allah swt bestows upon us and not those of his mortal clerics.

The Malaysian government wants to stop unilateral conversion, to wit, basicaaly forced conversions by stealth and kidnapping.

But the Perak Mufti, a man who once sent bullshit agitation (incitement) and then blamed his seditious act on a woman, wants the government to postpone legislation which will stop the shameful unilateral conversion.

Naturally some members of the public protested at the mufti's attempt at foot dragging, and preposterously the House Speaker asserted that those protesters can't and ought not do that.

The Speaker wants the public to keep their noses out of law making.

Doesn't the Speaker know the source of power of parliament comes from those people? Doesn't he know he owes his job to the public?

What an idiot?

DAP safe in Penang but federally ...?

By withdrawing from the bill to amend UUD355 has Najib taken the wind out of the Opposition sail?

Will Moody as the Pakatan anointed PM be the final straw for many Dap diehards?

While LGE is fairly safe in Penang his party may not so well federally.

Pribumi shows its ketuanan claws?

So Pribumi has joined Pakatan. But I read it insists on a Malay party leading the new coalition.

Yes a Malay party not just a Malay individual like Anwar Ibrahim or Azmin Ali or (forget about Dr Wan) Saifuddin Abdullah to lead the new bloc.

If true then Pribumi is showing its Umno claws.

I will be truly disappointed if the Dap goes along with such a dictate from a new and bloody junior member of Pakatan.

Our fighter aircraft needs

Président Francois Hollande is correct, in that between the French Rafale figjter aircraft and the Euro-Fighter the former is superior in many ways.

But I am against buying fighter aircraft in drips and drabs to merely keep up with the Jonese.

Thought Najib has not committed Malaysia to buying the Rafale right now, at a cost of RM9 billion for 18 aircraft l would remmend that he does no such purchases until he has the money to buy 7 times more than a mere 18 aircraft.

He should be looking at 120 fighter aircraft to meaningfully satisfy our air defence needs.

Peninsula - A history of Malaysia

I have just heard Rehman Rashid has suffered a heart attack in Rawang. Coincidentally this afternoon I brought his latest book 'Peninsula - a history of Malaysia' in which I learnt this prominent Journalist was sacked in 2003 by you know who because Rashid refused to continue writing speeches for you know who.

I look forward to reading his story.

Mango tree

There is no national tree for Malaysia, yet when I went around KL and Penang recently I see mango trees in general being planted almost everywhere outside houses.

Delightfully I saw a couple of nangka trees planted outside a house in KL but alas that was the exception to the rule. I wonder what is planted outside the houses of LKS, Anwar, Hadi Awang, Anwar and Najib.

Should we make the mango tree our national tree?

Pribumi or DAP

Maddy wants to join Pakatan but wants a new coalition name and symbol.

I suspect he wants his Pribumi to hide, and to hide behind the allusion of being also a rocket wakakaka.

Biggest loser in name and symbol changes will be the DAP - it's their members' choice. Do not leave such a monumental loss of identity to the say so of one man or even a small committee.

Five fingers of ISMA

From the Malay Mail Online about Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) [extracts only]:

our hearts to only Muslims including a foreigner

The leader of a conservative Islamist group has branded Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin’s move to give zakat (alms) to non-Muslims in Perlis as “cheap publicity”. [...]

Isma deputy president Aminuddin Yahaya, on the other hand, said while the policy may be in line with Islamic teachings, priority for zakat distribution should still be given to poor Muslims.

“Conceptually there is no problem with it so as long as they have intentions to embrace Islam.”

In other words, ISMA deputy president said that zakat for non-Muslim poor is okay provided they have intentions to masuk Islam, though his leader was not so 'friendly'.

In the aftermath of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, Chinese Buddhists in Penang rushed to Batu Ferringhi and the Teluk Bahang area in the NW of Penang to provide aid to Malay-Muslim fishing community, but without requiring anyone there to show intention of becoming Buddhists.

another goodwill Buddhist effort in Kelantan

Chinese film star Jackie Chan donated his own money to re-build an entire village in Sumatra for the locals

The Chinese Buddhist goodwill in their support was deeply appreciated by the good folks in the Penang NW to elicit comments from those fishermen there that the Chinese Buddhists provided aid without first checking who among them was supporting UMNO, PAS or PKR.

Help to the poor should be provided when needed BUT without, as a prior condition, sussing out the religious (or political) preference or inclinations of the recipients, as some Christians and some Muslims have been wont to do.

Give willingly or don't give at all.

In the meanwhile, ISMA after showing heels-dragging reluctance on helping Malaysian non-Muslim poor, wants to make a foreigner, Zakir Naik a Malaysian citizen.

The notorious Indian Islamic preacher has been banned from several countries including his own homeland of India though police there would love to have him for serious questioning on security matters.

Zaki Naik is a man who once preached that wife beating is okay as hubby is the leader of the family and thus has the right, though he suggested hubby should beat his wife "lightly", whatever that means - 6 strokes or 100 strokes?

Just 3 weeks ago, Downunder, Keysar Trad, President of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, said that using violence against women would be a last resort for men.

He described beating women as Step No 3 in a process of dealing with issues in relationships, after (Step No 1) counselling and (Step No 2) buying chocolates or “taking her out on a dinner”.

And Keysar Trad is supposed to be a 'moderate' Aussie Muslim?

On another matter, according to Zaki Naik, Muslims have the right to have sex with their female SLAVES where to him, slaves would be prisoners of war.

He recommended the death penalty for homosexuals because they suffered from sinful mental problems (what, no healing?) and because those homosexuals watch pornographic movies.

He condemned America's Guantanamo Bay prison for holding Muslims as slaves there. I wonder whether those Yank (female and male) guards are having sex with their Muslims slaves as Zaki Naik has said it's okay to have sex with slaves.

Once he was reported to have said that pigs invited other males (presumably pigs and not cats) to have sex with his female mate (presumably pigs and not cats), saying that has been similar to what have been happening in Western society where those Westerners go to dance parties and do (wife) swapping. And that was because Westerners ate pork.

Most (though not all) Chinese eat pork too, and according to Zaki Naik, you are what you eat. In this sense Hindus are safe from behaving like lembu's and kerbau's and unta's.

Oh BTW, I didn't know that a pig could INVITE other male pigs (not cats) to f**k its piggy (not cat) mate, thus I have to kowtow to Zakir Naik for his profound and quite intimate knowledge on the ways of pigs, yes indeed, for him to be able to make such an assertion.

So ISMA wants to recommend such a person to become a Malaysian citizen.

It's amazing about the "priority" of ISMA. Promote a foreigner like Zaki Naik but show less goodwill towards Malaysian non-Muslim poor.

Chinese (non-Muslims and Muslims) have a saying that if one were to fold or bend one's fingers, the fingers will naturally fold inwards to the palm - (kepada sendiri).

But it seems ISMA's fingers fold outwards, away from the palm (kepada yang luar dan asing).

We should be thankful that we are currently at odds with North Korea and not some "other" nations.

PPSMI - Promote and Prevent?

Taken from Malaysia-Today:

aisehman, why so muka asam?

(MMO) – An academic has accused former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad of degrading the special position of Bahasa Melayu by introducing the Policy of Teaching Science and Mathematics in English (PPSMI) back in 2003.

Universiti Sains Malaysia’s (USM) Comparative literature expert, Professor Datuk Seri Dr Md Salleh Yaapar also labelled Dr Mahathir’s action as a hurried move and accused him of betraying the will of the Malay Kings and violating the Federal Constitution.

“Dr Mahathir also betrayed the National Education Policy because he caused chaos in the country’s education system. From then on (2003), Bahasa Melayu could only be used to teach subjects deemed less important like arts, literature and religious education.

“Owing to that in schools and universities today, there exists a language apartheid phenomenon where the English language is hailed and at the same time, Bahasa Melayu is degraded and insulted,” the Malay daily Utusan Malaysia quoted him saying.

Md Salleh reportedly made the remarks when tabling his work paper at the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka (DBP) yesterday.

PPSMI was discontinued in 2012, but the Education Ministry has made it mandatory for students sitting for the Form Five SPM examination to pass the English-language subject beginning 2016.

Personally I have a completely different take, wakakaka, for as a Chinese Malaysians I see things quite differently from, say, Professor Datuk Seri Dr Md Salleh Yaapar. But matey, having a different opinion-assessment is my prerogative.

But before I dive into that Maddy's pro-PPMSI policy, I want to discuss with you the important or necessary requirements for language learning, whether that be the English language, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, Tamil, Swahili or kaytee's mother tongue of Teochew*, wakakaka.

* Today Teochow (Cháozhōuhuà or Cháoshànhuà) is spoken by only 12 to 15 million people [10 in China and 2 to 5 overseas], slightly less than the Khmer (Cambodian) language which has 16 million speakers

In my previous post I touched (in comment section) upon Tian Chua's language learning. Yes, at one stage he seems to have had an interest in multi language learning.

When he was incarcerated (ISA-ed) for 2 years in late September 1999 for being an activist in the Free Anwar reformasi movement, he whiled part of his time away behind bars learning several languages, namely, Norwegian (why this one?), Arabic, French (for 'future' use, wakakaka) and Sanskrit (I admire his interest in ancient archaic language as I too have such an interest), but he confessed he has by now mostly forgotten those languages.

To learn a language, that is, to read, write and speak the language, many people don't realise the far more, nay, MOST important aspect is actually the competency 'to listen and comprehend' in that language.

Yes, you can also learn to just read and write a language without the need to be able 'to listen and comprehend' it, but that's only learning half of that language when you can't converse in it nor take practical dictation or make a report in that language if you aren't able 'to listen and comprehend' it.

If Mahathir wanted Malaysian schoolkids to learn English, tell me which school subjects would be the most optimal for learning it?

Science and Mathematics?

Would these two subjects allow for maximum use of the language or just limited to some technical terms?

Contrary to what Professor Dr Md Salleh averred, that, "from then on (2003), Bahasa Melayu could only be used to teach subjects deemed less important like arts, literature and religious education", Mahathir had actually ensured Bahasa Melayu was taught in subjects that optimised its learning, namely, literature, religious studies (and arts, but where were these?).

Other ideal subjects for learning well a language would be those which maximises class oral/verbal interactions, eg. civics, history and of course the language class itself.

Science and maths aren't the best subjects for class interactions, with rare exceptions like when kaytee was still a schoolboy, saying in class and interacting with Miss Sweetie, our biology (science) teacher, when she dipped her hand into the chalk box to retrieve one, that there was a caterpillar in that box (which I had earlier placed there, wakakaka) and hearing her sweet screams.

OK, let's not bother discussing what other 'interactions' took place subsequently in that biology class, wakakaka, ouch.

So why did Maddy want Science and Maths to be taught in English?

Which students are really good in maths and science?

And in what language do their teachers teach in?

Remember that sinister old UMNO strategy of 'promote &  prevent'. If you can't remember that's alright - just read my old 2012 post The Big Medical Lie in which I wrote (extracts):

My uncle has just chipped in to relate a story in much early days, confirming our suspicion that Only some may be doctors. Then (at time of Unc's story), despite the reality that most Chinese and Indian students (other than a few for window dressing) were already marginalized out of local universities, an UMNO MP was still not satisfied with the very much imbalanced ratio of undergraduates in our higher institutions of learning.

He demanded, apparently in Parliament, a two-pronged strategy of 'promote' and 'prevent' - that was, promote the Malays (which in truth no one was against, subject to minimum standards) and also prevent non-Malays from seeking tertiary education outside Malaysia.

He urged that non-Malay students be prohibited from going abroad to study at foreign universities to ensure the goals of our most remarkable social engineering could be achieved. It was fortunate that his proposal was seen as far too openly racist for the mores of that time, and so was ignored.

But to say something in his favour, though no doubt he was an extremist he was at least open about his extremist views. For the last several years, we have instead sinister sneaky sly Machiavellian machinations achieving the very same two-pronged strategy, promote & prevent, to ensure the medical profession remains dominated by The Chosen Ones. I mentioned some of those mafulat Machivellian move to 'close the gates' to 'others' in Only some may be doctors.

This morning when I read Free Malaysia Today's (FMT) Liow knows about MMC’s racism, says doc I wasn't at all surprised by Dr A Subendran's accusation of Liow Tiong LIE lying when he (Liow) denied knowledge of the government practising racial discrimination regarding students studying medicine abroad, by either raising the bar or placing obstacles for those of the 'wrong colour'.

Dr Subendran, himself a graduate of CMSU, was particularly furious because he had personally talked at length with Liow 3 years ago on this particular topic of racial discrimination against 'nons' studying medicine abroad.

FMT reported Dr Subendran writing about the double standard in an email to Liow’s personal account on Aug 14, 2010, with copies to the Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Sidek Hassan and deputy ministers SK Devamany and A Kohilan Pillay. None of them responded. And why should we be surprised?

Dr Subendran informed FMT that a 2007 news report reported an education consultant explaining that the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia was adequate as an entry requirement into Egyptian medical programmes. Hmmm, shades of Chubby Checker and his 'How low can you go' Limbo rock.

The infuriated doctor said: “So, it is crystal clear that MMC implements different sets of rules for Malays and non-Malays.”

“But, the question now is, why is Liow pretending to be in the dark when he has solid evidence about the double standard? It seems to me that he is forced to lie to the media to save BN’s reputation as it heads for the general election.”

All I want to say in conclusion is that I have to acknowledge Liow's parents were fantastically prescient in naming him as he is named, except they spelled his personal name LAI incorrectly.

'Promote' and 'Prevent'!

I wonder whether PPSMI could also be the acronym for 'Promote & Prevent in Sains, Matemetik & Ilmuhisab'?

The vernacular schools have been lucky that the (Malay) teachers in National type schools have been against the PPSMI, so they (Chinese school teachers) have benefited from the Malay teachers' protest against the government.

Indeed, it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good.

But could it be that someone had been ch'au sim (busuk hati)? Wakakaka.
