DAP kowtow to Pribumi over Aziz Bari's candidacy in Perak

Yes, it's sad the DAP has now cast doubts over Aziz Bari's candidacy in Perak in a very publicly unpleasant way, and has now promised disciplinary actions against Ong Boon Piow for declaring academic Abdul Aziz Bari as his successor in the Perak state seat of Tebing Tinggi.

DAP to kowtow to and appease Pribumi, will discipline Ong

Two days ago Ong had announced Abdul Aziz Bari as his replacement in Tebing Tinggi in the 14th general election.

law professor Abdul Aziz Bari

Malaysiakini reported that:

Present at the announcement were Perak DAP secretary general Wong Kah Woh state DAP Youth chief Howard Lee and Perak Amanah deputy chief and former Perak menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

Perak's DAP big brass were present during that announcement so how did such an innocent announcement, no matter how unauthorised it might have been, turned into a public telling-off of Ong by
DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke?

I am not suggesting that the DAP closes one eye to intra-party disciplinary issues (as it so generously accords to Mahathir and his PM-rial follies), but couldn't that threat of disciplinary action against Ong be done quietly within the party disciplinary hearing without scandalising the mistake in public and embarrassing Ong Boon Piow?

And Ong Boon Piow would not have made such an announcement without prior notification by the party authority.

Yes, why indeed is there this humongous fuss by Anthony Loke in such a public spat among DAP members?

It seems DAP has once again kowtow-ed to its boss Pribumi, and the kowtowing must not only be done but must be seen to be done.

Malaysiakini in another (latter) report said:

Aziz's candidacy has been seen as a possible conduit for DAP to take the menteri besar position in Perak should Pakatan Harapan recapture the state.

The Perak constitution requires its menteri besar to be a Malay.

DAP in the last the general election emerged as the biggest party in Perak Pakatan Rakyat and its successor Pakatan Harapan. However, all of its elected representatives were non-Malays.

DAP's Harapan partners, particularly Bersatu, has lobbied for DAP not to field a Malay candidate in Perak state seats due to concerns the move may spook conservative Malay voters.

BN has repeatedly played on the spectre that DAP, which it paints as a "Chinese party", might take over the state and subvert Malay interests.

Loke said he regretted any confusion that arose from Ong's unilateral announcement.

Aziz previously said his possible candidacy lies with the DAP central leadership, and downplayed the likelihood of him being a potential menteri besar candidate if Harapan wins Perak.

The subterfuge** of the Blue Moon continues, and if and where necessary, collateral damage has to be inflicted on DAP's own people to appease the Emperor's party.

** subterfuge = deceit used in order to achieve one's goal.

But what now for Aziz Bari? Is he to be discarded as an unwanted inconvenience and embarrassment for DAP, just like Zaid Ibrahim and (once, prior to 2008) Zul Noor?

a DAP veteran but abandoned like Tan Seng Giaw

LATEST:

Malaysiakini - Kit Siang douses rumours, says DAP won't claim Perak MB post (extracts):

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has doused talk that the party intends to claim the menteri besar post should Pakatan Harapan win the state in the 14th general election.

Speculation over the matter had grown following news that its recent recruit academic Abdul Aziz Bari would be given a Perak seat.

“Aziz Bari will be a candidate for Perak DAP's state seat, but DAP won't lay any claim to the office of the Perak menteri besar. [...]

“I want to make it clear; DAP won't make a claim. It will be a Harapan MB - it can be anyone, but it won't be from DAP,” he said.

Ameen.

  1. Not good optics for DAP to be seen as aiming for the MB position in the event Pakatan wins the majority in the Perak assembly.

Let others take the lead in a Malay-majority State. DAP can and will be a strong party in a Pakatan government.

Aziz Bari's candidacy should be decided on its own merits.

  2. Kowtow to PKR, Pribumi or Amanah? There looks like 3 Lords to me now over in Perak.

All in pursuit of "God, Glory and Power".

    1. Kowtow to all 3 for candidate selection but Rule No1, all of the winners must kowtow to numero uno: DAP.

    2. What's wrong with kowtow to numero uno? Isn't that the case now all of BN spineless, the AG, IGP, MACC, Bank Negara Governnor, the media and what not, all kowtow to MO1?

    3. Doesn't DAP want to be different from kowtowing? If it's OK to kowtow to your numero uno, then don't criticise others

It's just like having ex-EC Chief Abndul Rashid, also a PERKASA VP standing as a Pakatan candidate, bearing in mind that former Commissioner of EC acknowledged that the three redelineation exercises under his tenure were aimed at continuing Malay political dominance.

If Pakatan allows him, an EC gerrymander man, to contest as a Pakatan candidate under its Blue Moon charter, then does Pakatan has any right to question the EC's re-delineation bullshit?

If you eat shit, then don't condemn others for eating shit

    4. What kind of argument r u propagating?

1st, sequential order of the causality MUST be demarcated before u fart!

The BN spineless, the AG, IGP, MACC, Bank Negara Governnor, the media and what not, all kowtow to MO1? For what? To safeguard pinklips' ass!

If ever DAP has to kow-towing to PKR, Pribumi or Amanah wrt mbship, then perhaps it's in its best interest as the case of that ketuanan clause of the Perak state.

Furthermore, not to show arrogances to provoke the blur-sotongs & the ketuanan freaks as in not counting the chicks before the eggs r hatched.

Hmmmm…… that ex-EC Chief Abndul Rashid, also a PERKASA VP standing as a Pakatan candidate…… apa salah tu.

He is an ex of an organisation that's famous for manipulating vote distributions/counting/what's no in A-to-Z erection skulduggery.

Putting him at PutraJaya to counteract that mamak tengku IS the best move. He can spots voting underhands miles away for a small constituency.

WRT his aim of continuing Malay political dominance, let's see lah. W/O the umno hegemonic machinery & an awakening Melayu populace, I hope he carries that dream to his grave, praying that no cat will piss on his resting place!

Jadi, siapa tu eating shit & condemning others for pointing it out?

    5. Not kowtowing but realistic politics.
By sheer arithmetic, after the elections DAP may be right to take charge in a Malay State (one with a Sultan) but it has to be tempered by realpolitik.
The time is not yet right.

    7. the realistic politics is not after but b4 election, is that not part of reason pakatan cant win perak the last election? like i said many times, dap can win all the chinese seats but pakatan overall will suffer. malay fear of dap is like ccp fear of democracy.

in a way, i agree with loose blogger like kt is closet, hmmmm now almost open najib/umno supporters. their intentions is to preserve the status quo.
