3 Quickies (3)

(1) MM Online - MACC to ‘corrupt politicians’: You will not escape us

Unedifying of an anti-corruption agency to threaten or boast.

MACC should act, and act swiftly and silently.

As President Theodore Roosevelt wrote: Speak softly and carry a big stick.

(2) Malaysiakini - Mahathir outlines differences between BMF, 1MDB scandals

Paraphrasing William Shakespeare in Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 2, 229-230

Hamlet bin Anwar:
Madam, how like you this play?

Queen Wan:
The silly old bugger doth protest too much, methinks.

(3) Malaysiakini - Repent, disown DAP and we will embrace you, PAS tells Dr M

Agreed to him disowning DAP - might just save us.

And do take him back to Kelantan or Terengganu with you.

However, a warning - he is unlikely to repent.

      2. Hmmm, why did Asia Sentinel reported on11 August 2011, following the death of Lorrain Osman:

The Carrian disaster also resulted in the near collapse of BMF’s parent, Bank Bumi, which required nearly US$1 billion in recapitalization by the Malaysian government. It was the biggest bank failure in the world at the time.

It is unique for another reason. Despite considerable suspicion of fraud and corrupt payments to officials, the Malaysian government, then headed by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, declined to attempt to prosecute any of the bank’s officers or government officials.

It was the first major milestone in a culture of impunity that has handicapped Malaysia’s ruling Barisan Nasional ever since.

      The CIA doc also said:

Despite his repeated denials, the CIA document produced in March 1985 said “circumstantial evidence” suggested that the scandal extends into the Mahathir administration. This was because as a government-owned banking institution, Bank Bumi was closely monitored buy the both the Finance Ministry and Central Bank.

“No important decisions are made without their agreement or knowledge,” the document said.

“It is unlikely that the government was unaware of Bank Bumi’s increase on lending limits for its overseas branches to allow more funds to be channeled to Hong Kong.

“This action was taken after word of Tan’s difficulties had dried up funds from other sources,”

And Mahathri had a quarrel with the auditor=-general Ahmad Noordin Zakaria who headed the committee of inquiry but with limited and restricted terms and power but who all had the balls to use political and media pressure to have its findings published. I think they must have been thoroughly disgusted by Mahathir's reluctance to reveal the findings.

      What was there to hide?

      3. sorry to hurt your Mahathir, your Azmin Ali's uncle. You can help Maddy by sucking his prick tonight, wakakaka
