Questions for Wan Azizah on UMNO's 'unity government' with Pakatan

MM Online - Dr Wan Azizah says Pakatan yet to look at Umno’s push for ‘unity govt’ (extracts):

SERDANG, Sept 28 ― Pakatan Harapan has not considered Umno’s bid to form a “unity” government, said president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

She said discussions, if any, would need to wait until PH chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad returns from the US, where he is currently attending the United Nations General Assembly.

“We haven't set up a meeting yet. (We'll) wait for Tun Mahathir to return and discuss whether or not the cooperation should happen,” she told reporters after launching of “Better Brighter Anjung Kasih Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) @ Serdang Hospital” today.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has repeatedly broached the topic of a unity government with PH parties, but the efforts appear to be unilateral so far.

When asked about if government will recognise the Shadow Cabinet unveiled by Barisan Nasional this week, the deputy prime minister said she was reviewing the matter
.

YB DPM, though the news is a week old, what exactly did you mean by 'unity government' with UMNO?

Three points I need to make:

(1) When Mahathir was out of country, you became the acting PM and could have made a decision on such an UMNO proposal,

(2) For you as acting PM not to reject the UMNO proposal straightaway had been to accept it in principle or to consider it as a (future) possible option, and

(3) PH is currently ruling with a solid majority in federal parliament, so why would you even contemplate such an UMNO proposal of 'unity government' which means allowing a defeated UMNO to return to power in government?

You have a few questions to answer YB DPM. Start on the above instead of wasting taxpayers' money to just focus on your husband's by-election campaign.

Your feeble response to UMNO's proposed 'unity government' gives me the creeps, especially when just last month we read in FMT's Umno proposes possible tie-up with PKR to form Pakatan Malaysia the following (extracts):

PETALING JAYA: Four months after Barisan Nasional’s disastrous defeat in the May 9 polls, Umno vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin is now hinting to a possibility of a new coalition.

He is touting the formation of Pakatan Malaysia, which would comprise PAS, MCA, MIC, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Bersatu Sabah and PKR.

He said with the right formula, they could form a political coalition that could give Pakatan Harapan a run for its money.

In a letter to PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin today, he was quoted in the New Straits Times as saying: “At the moment, Malaysia is patterned by one political coalition against myriad political parties.

“Each one has its own strengths and each one has to be strategic and open to survive.

“It is not impossible for a new coalition, with PAS, MCA, MIC, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Bersatu Sabah and PKR, to form Pakatan Malaysia, instead of Pakatan Harapan.”

Khaled said Umno was still a formidable party and had learned from its mistakes, adding that Umno is still more dominant than PPBM.

“We will continue to resurrect Umno as it is a movement to strengthen the Malays. It is a Malay institution and to Johoreans like myself, it is part of our lives,”
...
While I can't blame UMNO or PAS for proposing the concept of Malay unity, especially when both parties are in the 'outer' and desperate to get back into power, you as DPM and a top PKR leader should be ashamed of not rejecting UMNO's lustful but sinister approach straightaway.

How can Pakatan supporters trust you?

  1. Typically, a Deputy cannot make a policy change decision when the Chief is away.
Depending on the extent of actual delegation, the Deputy is usually only authorised to make day-to-day operational decisions or act on an emergency.

Any "Unity Government" decision almost certainly falls under a Policy Change decision.

The DPM always in the past has a major role to play in overseeing the ruling party's elections or by-elections, though that was under BN.

Who is to say the current DPM is wrong to spend some time in Port Dickson campaigning ?

Cha Bor definitely does NOT speak for any Pakatan supporter or supporters.

    1. t'was not a policy but just a sluttish overture from a desperate UMNO - desperate to regain power - she should have spurned it straightaway instead of keeping that in the pending tray

  2. Allowing UMNO into the government, even as a minority, would be like infecting a body with HIV. The virus will multiply and spread. In fact we are seeing this already in Bersatu and PKR, where past UMNO people are Trojan Horses.

  3. Wakakakakakakaka

All these Unity Govt. talks are actually hogwash. It is just an attempt by all those UMNO warlords to molly coddle with PH so as to avoid criminal charges against them for their past corruption and involvement in 1MDB money laundering. And these include the PAS top leadership warlords too.

Where is Ahjibkor's little black book (Buku 555) on all the personal gifts made out? Is it with TDM or DSAI?

It is as clear as day that UMNO and PAS after GE 14 are just kept alive based on the interest of their leaders and warlords survival and pity the ordinary dunggu members who are still believing in their vitriolic speeches of Ketuanan this and that.

As to why PH leaders are reluctant to say "No" to UMNO outright, everyone must remember UMNO has still billions of assets and which party whether Bersatu or PKR wouldn't also wants to have some spoils of war if offered?

TDM and DSAI knows it. "Cash is still King" for any political party.

  4. 1. Are they (both sides) intending to betray their voters' mandate? Is democracy only working during general elections.
    2. Is it written somewhere that the moment the pm is out of the country, the dpm automatically becomes the acting pm?
    3. Proposal by umno baru for the unity gomen is akin to throwing a cat among the pigeons. Mereka sudah pukul gendang, parti mana dalam pakatan harapan mahu menari.

  5. It is too late. What PH had done in 4 months is sow hatred against with their loud mouth LGE and vindictive Mahathir's war against Najib. MY VOTE IS GOING TO PAS IN THE NEXT GE15 (if the next PM is even going to allow GE15).....I want to see those 94% arrogant Chinese Malaysians and Mahathir cronies are all suffer under ultra Islamic Rule. You sow hatred you get hatred in return.
