PAS destroying God's gifts to Malaysia

From Malaysiakini (extracts only):

The story of the illegal timber trade is a story of violence, killings, corruption and money-laundering. It is no different in Malaysia, even with the Islamic party PAS-led state government of Kelantan.

News of thugs claiming to be policemen allegedly bringing down a blockade set up by an orang asli community on a logging trail between Pos Tohoi and Pos Simpor, last Wednesday, has been deeply distressing for us at the Centre to Combat Corruption & Cronyism (C4).

That several Orang Asli community leaders were arrested had further exacerbated the need to seek real, immediate and urgent solutions.

Forestry director Zahari Ibrahim has since claimed that 7,248 hectares out of more than 600,000 hectares of permanent forest reserves had been illegally exploited throughout Kelantan since the 1980s. We are shocked that such actions have gone unpunished and no enforcement action was taken against the culprits.

The quick denial of Natural Resources Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and the Kelantan Logging Association, has fuelled further suspicion that the full picture is being kept under wraps, and that hidden hands could be involved in protecting the culprits behind the illegal clearing. This begs full disclosure into the real machinations behind the Kelantan timber industry.

Rampant logging was identified as among the causes for the unusual rate of flooding in the east coast state in the last few years, especially the unprecedented mud floods which swallowed many parts of Kelantan in 2014.

See last paragraph above. Does that mean, contrary to what Nik Abduh Nik Aziz told us in 2014, Allah swt was not responsible for the Noah-epic-like flood that devastated Kelantan, killing some people in the inundation while forcing hundreds of thousands of poor Kelantanese to evacuate their homes?

Sheesh, I knew Allah swt is a compassionate god, thus why would He punish Kelantanese in 2014 for no reason. No, it was not Allah swt that sent the flood Alhamdulillah, it was rampant illegal logging in a state governed by the clueless PAS state government who did not prevent such illegal logging which caused humongous damage to water catchment areas.

Do recall this was exactly what had happened in Kedah under a PAS government (2008 to 2013), where the PAS state government in 2008 (seemingly the moment it got into power) condoned massive logging in water catchment areas, so much so it alarmed the Penang State government.

Lim Guan Eng was driven by massive worries over water supply for Penang into saying: "Kedah is destroying God's gifts to the world. Logging will destroy natural forest and raw water source."

Penang depends on 80% of its supply of water from the Sungai Muda in Kedah and that water was mindlessly being jeopardized by the logging. The indiscriminate destruction of trees in catchment areas would cause problems during rainfall, worsening water pollution, creating drought and massive flooding, and making the state become hotter.

And Malaysiakini advised us then: The Ulu Muda forest reserve - which is the last remaining tract of forests in the state - is a crucial water catchment area for the Pedu, Muda and Ahning dams which supply drinking water to Kedah, Perlis and Penang.

In June 2008 Jaseni Maidinsa the CEO of Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) wrote on behalf of Penang CM Lim Guan Eng to the Ministry of Energy, Water and Telecommunications and the National Water Service Commission (Span), urging the federal government to invoke the 2003 cabinet directive to all state governments to gazette their water catchment areas and to use it as a basis to halt Kedah's irresponsible ambition.

While Penang was increasing its state water catchment areas, PAS in Kedah was mindlessly reducing it through massive logging, all under the PAS state government. Green groups condemned the PAS Kedah government's approval of a 22,798 hectare timber concession to Sibu-based WTK Holdings Sdn Bhd and Yayasan Islam Kedah.

But the terrible terrible thing in all these was that Nik Abduh in 2014 had fabricated a mischievous tale and misused the good name of Allah swt in the process, to lie to the people of Kelantan, that it was allegedly Allah swt whose wrath at the failure of Pak Hadi's Hudud Bill, brought the floods to cause sufferings in Kelantan.

May this naughty disrespectful man repent. Taubatlah, Nik Abduh, for your wicked deed.

  2. Meanwhile Penang is destroying its own catchment areas.

Yes, Kedah is guilty, so is Penang.

  3. PAS is guilty. Forest must be preserved.
