SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 — Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar today confirmed that the Form Two student accused of fatally stabbing his 16-year-old schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, had feelings for the victim.

He said the victim was unaware of the boy’s feelings, describing it as a case of him keeping his emotions bottled up.

“The suspect had feelings for the victim but did not share them with her, so it was more of a case of bottling up his feelings.

“The victim is believed to have been unaware of the situation,” he told reporters after a press conference addressing the incident.

Shazeli said the suspect and the victim hardly knew each other.

“If we want to say they know each other directly, not really. They were in different classes and of different ages,” he added.

He also confirmed that the suspect used a multi-purpose knife, which he bought online, to stab the victim in the chest and neck multiple times.

Shazeli said the pattern of the stab wounds indicated the suspect intended to kill the victim.

At the press conference, Shazeli said the suspect’s actions are believed to have been driven by emotional factors and social media influence.

He noted that police cannot yet confirm the state of the suspect’s mental health, but further screening will be conducted as the investigation progresses.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days, from today until October 21, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
