Malaysiakini - DAP scraps plan for Penang snap polls

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said DAP has decided to abandon plans to hold a snap state election in Penang.

“This is because PKR does not agree with the proposal,” said Lim at a press conference today. [...]

Asked if this was the DAP’s final decision or would the party still pursue the proposal with PKR, Lim said there was no point in dragging on the matter.

He added that during that meeting on Jul 20, justifiable concerns about the state general elections were raised, in that PKR risked losing more seats than DAP.

He claimed it was proposed that DAP give up one or two of its state seats in Penang to PKR, to make the proposal more acceptable to the PKR leadership.

“However, we stated that this was not feasible,” said the DAP secretary-general.

“Following the disagreement of PKR to a state general election, the DAP will not proceed with proposals for a state general election.

So the proposed Penang snap election is over, finito, kaput, ta'ada lagi, boh liao, because PKR has imposed too heavy a price for its agreement to Guan Eng's proposed early polls.

Azmin Ali wanted 2 of DAP's held constituencies in return for agreeing to Guan Eng's proposed snap election. The 2 DAP seats were to serve as compensation for PKR's anticipated loss in about 5 state seats because PKR's current buddy, lover and covert-yet-not-so-covert partner PAS has vowed to pose a 3-corner fight in all 40 state constituencies including its PKR lover's constituencies, 5 of which will particularly be to UMNO's favour.

But this would have meant that, had DAP agreed to 2 of its currently held seats be given to PKR, PKR would have been willing to sacrifice-lose-abandon those 5 precarious seats.

Now, wouldn't that be betraying the 5 PKR Aduns currently in those seats? By the by, I'm not just talking about PAS betraying its PKR lover, but PKR betraying its own 5 member-Aduns.

There is an American term for such a betrayal - it's call 'selling his mother down the river'.

It was a line from Mark Twain's story 'Puddn'head Wilson'.

Extract of story from The Straight Dope:

The plot of the story revolves around a light-skinned mulatto slave woman who wanted her even paler baby to have a better life. Her master had a baby boy who was the same age as hers, so she switched the babies. Her own son was raised in luxury, while her master's son was raised as a slave.

Selling those 5 PKR candidates in iffy seats down the river for 2 of DAP blue ribbon seats? Wakakaka.

But Guan Eng saved the asses of those 5 PKR Aduns when he said no to Azmin, when I feel he should have said 'f**k off', wakakaka again.

Then again, he could have the DAP and Amanah proceed on with the snap election by themselves like what PKR unilaterally did in Permatang Pauh, Penanti and Kajang, and will still have won with a majority to retain majority rule in Penang.

But he didn't, having promised he won't proceed with the snap election if PKR doesn't want it.

It's not that PKR doesn't want it - they would have settled for it for the price of 2 of DAP held seats. Discard 5 dodgy cards and draw in two aces, wakakaka again and again.

But the funniest part has come from BN morons (and no doubt from PKR-istas as well, including a certain someone who only eats gourmet sandwiches, wakakaka), who had earlier lambasted Guan Eng for being dictatorial in allegedly bulldozing PKR into a decision on the snap polls, but now call him chicken for succumbing to PKR out of fear.

But then, that's how they have sucked on UMNO's you-know-what for eons by regular flip flopping, wakakaka.

Our different religious beliefs

I really like RPK's latest post titled When you believe you believe (extracts). It's one of his best. Extracts follow:

... And that is why you never attend lectures by the ‘other side’. You do not believe what they say because what they tell you are all lies. You only attend lectures by famous Muslim preachers because you only believe what these people tell you. I suppose this is a natural human trait. You already believe so you only want to listen to what you believe. And if someone tells you something that you do not believe you will refuse to listen. And this is probably also true regarding other matters involving politics and so on. The definition of truth and lies is determined by your political beliefs. You believe in one side and you do not believe in the other side. Hence your beliefs are determined by which side you believe in.And you will only attend lectures or ceramah by people you believe in. This is because you believe what they say and even though you have heard the same lecture or ceramah many times you will still continue to attend them.

And you will never listen to what the ‘other side’ tells you because what they say will contradict what you believe and you do not like to listen to contradictions to your belief.

And this is why we live in perpetual ignorance. Once we believe we believe and we will refuse to listen to any contradictions to these beliefs. We only want to hear the truth, which means what we believe, and will reject lies, which means contradictions to these beliefs.

And that is why propaganda works — because people are prepared to believe in God even though no one has thus far proven that God exists.

Indeed Pet, you are absolutely right it's a natural human trait.

My humble take is that the "culprit" leading to this attitude is Death, yes, death as in die, mati, see.

On the word 'see' (Teochew and Hokkien - Canto is 'sei', Mandarin 'si', Japanese 'shi'), this has been why Chinese and Japanese have avoided this 4-word because it sounds like 'die'. But the Japanese have been far more innovative, sometimes resorting to their bumi-lingo (kunyomi) of 'yon' to avoid the Chinese-derived 'shi' (onyomi), wakakaka.

OK, what lies after/beyond Death is unknown as no one has ever come back to tell us, though there were a few who went into deep coma, deep meditative state or a state of near-death and after they had 'awoken' claimed they returned from the 'other world', but in scientific-medical terms they didn't die.

Except for an extraordinary few, most humankind fear the unknown situation in Death, hence religions found willing clients who want to know what's 'beyond'.

Beliefs in religious teachings offers great comfort to most of humankind because they offer after-life 'assurances' and promises where some of these even amount to immense sexual pleasures.

Wiki tells us that Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (1445-1505 AD) was an Egyptian writer, religious scholar, juristic expert and teacher whose works deal with a wide variety of subjects in Islamic theology. But this was how he saw Paradise (Jannah):

I recall as a kid my mum, a devotee of the Pure Land sect, told me that in the Western Paradise (Sukhāvatī,) when one felt hungry one would immediately feel full and satisfied. I have to say there's not much gastronomical enjoyment in that, or perhaps she didn't inform me, a mere kid then, of that aspect.

Obviously each religion knew its respective clientele, where sex must have been f**king important (excuse unintended pun, wakakaka) to the Arabs, while food was to the Chinese, to ensure its business would flourish. A case of different appetizing taste buds.

Thus, very rare few would want their religion's assurances and promises discredited, especially by the other religions. Nay, they instead want their religious beliefs reconfirmed and fortified.

Snap election for Penang - a sinister DAP conspiracy?

Wikipedia explains: A snap election is an election called earlier than expected. Generally it refers to an election in a parliamentary system called when not required (either by law or convention), usually to capitalize on a unique electoral opportunity or to decide a pressing issue.

It differs from a recall election in that it is initiated by politicians (usually the head of government or ruling party) rather than voters ....

Mahathir and many Pakatan people want the latter (recall election) for Najib, wakakaka.

Wikipedia also informs us: A recall election (also called a recall referendum or representative recall) is a procedure by which voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before his or her term has ended.

Recalls, which are initiated when sufficient voters sign a petition, have a history dating back to the ancient Athenian democracy and are a feature of several contemporary constitutions.

In indirect or representative democracy people's representatives are elected and these representatives rule for a specific period of time. But if any representative is not properly discharging his/her responsibilities, then he/she can be called back with the written request of specific number of voters.

As I am not a constitutional law expert, I think, alas, there is probably no provision for 'recall' elections.

Perhaps, for this we can thank our founding fathers who framed our Constitution or perhaps Najib should thank Mahathir during whose PM-ship we Malaysians saw numerous constitutional amendments as well as the mutilation of the now non-independent Dewan Senate.

But apart from supporting numerous calls to the King, rulers and god-knows-who-else for a 'recall' referendum to remove Ah Jib Gor or just straight sacking for the current PM, wakakaka, Lim Guan Eng and the DAP also want the former type of election, to wit, a 'snap' or early election for the State of Penang.

Presumably the DAP CWC must have seen fit "to capitalize on a unique electoral opportunity or to decide a pressing issue".

What these would be have been the subject of considerable debates, allegations, accusations, conspiracy theory, etc, wakakaka, and we'll come to these shortly.

In late 2014, Taipei Times reported:

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe won comfortable re-election yesterday in a snap poll he had billed as a referendum on his economic policies after early success faded into a recession. [...]

The online version of the Nikkei Shimbun newspaper said the LDP alone had won between 290 and 310 seats, and was “on course to secure the two thirds [317 seats] in the chamber with coalition partner Komeito.”

“This victory will enhance Abe’s political capital and allow him to tackle tough issues more comfortably,” University of Niigata Prefecture politics professor Yoshinobu Yamamoto said.

Abe, 60, was only halfway through his four-year term when he called the vote last month.

OK, back to our dear Guan Eng - Those who are not supportive of the DAP or Guan Eng have provided different reasons, all needless to say indicated sinister, scheming or selfish reasons on Guan Eng's motive, with one even suggesting it's to perpetuate the Lim Dynasty (his Father, his Son or his Holy Wife?) though how that would come about was not stated - just typical poo-flinging exercises where facts aren't important compared to flinging the bovine dust around as much as possible so that some would somehow stick, wakakaka.

One rather outlandish suggestion was in an article in FMT titled intriguely and provocatively as Here’s the real reason DAP wants a snap election, which attempts to inform us, wakakaka:

If this snap election is about a show of power that people want to rally behind the island’s chief in the face of prosecution over his personal dealings, how can scoring lower than 30 seats help to send that message?

And with less than 30 seats, which means a weaker state government, how does it help the future of the island?

So, it has to be some other reason.This is where the Illuminati is brought in, wakakaka.

As usual, the unspoken ones are not those listed and written in an open letter. What is written is what they want us to believe. And usually the real reason and motive is concealed from the public.

So, what is the real reason behind the snap election proposal?He builds up the suspense, wakakaka again.

Take a step back and ask yourself: If the chief goes down in the graft case against him, who stands to gain the most? The number two man in his own party or the number two man in his own government?

Let's decrypt his tantalising question in the above preamble to his conspiracy theory. It'd be safe to say the mentioned 'chief' is Guan Eng and the No 2 man in his own party is of course a DAP bloke, probably Chow Kon Yeow the current chair of DAP Penang and the likely successor of Guan Eng as CEO Penang, whilst the No 2 man in his own government is the PKR DCM I, YB Mohd Rashid Hasnon

By the by, Rashid Hasnon has just told the DAP off for the latter's stinging words against PKR in regards to the DAP proposed snap election. Rashid Hasnon warned the DAP that the latter's annoying verbal 'barbs' would only compel PKR to further dig their heels in (against the snap election), wakakaka.

Incidentally, RPK in one of his latest posts has advised Chinese that Melayus 'makan lembut' so don't be too harsh or rude to them if the Chinese want their cooperation or help - be humble, be respectful and you the Chinese will be the winner.

RPK had written (extracts): ... in time, the minority non-Bumiputeras will become an even smaller minority. So the DAP Chinese should not be too kwailan or langsi. Accept the fact that you need to share the air you breath with the Malays and not look down on the Malays like you do now.

The Malays are a proud race and they hate being ‘hina’. They are also very protective of their religion, customs and traditions and will go berserk if they think you are belittling what they hold dear.

One thing about the Malays, though, is that they can be very hospitable when you demonstrate humility and respect, and they will protect you with their lives if necessary. And this is the ‘weakness’ of the Malays — you can take advantage of them if you know how to treat them properly.

OK, back to the author's Illuminati-ish conspiracy theory, wakakaka:

Against this backdrop, ask yourself why the party and its proxy continue to pressure the other partners to agree to the proposal of a snap election?

Because they are not among the biggest beneficiaries, but their partner is, being the second in line in the island government, if the island chief does indeed go down before the next general election.

However, the threat of this partner can be greatly reduced if a snap election is held, where this partner is expected to lose heavily.

So, either way will do.

Either this partner agrees to a plan that aims to further weaken itself in the island, or they rely on media pressure to weaken their partner by shattering their image, thus reducing its right to claim the benefits coming from the fall of the chief.

The aim of the snap election is to protect the position of the chief. But to protect it from what? Well, you can make your own chauvinistic guess.

I believe I am on fairly safe grounds if I speculate the author Timmy Say is a pro PKR person or even a PKR member, wakakaka.

Also, if I've read Timmy's article correctly, I believe he is telling us that the sinister purpose of the DAP's proposal for a snap election is to deliberately enervate the Penang PKR through expected heavy losses for the party, so that when (not if) Guan Eng goes to jail, the PKR man who is currently DCM I of Penang (in the government, not in the party) won't be able to become CM.

I love his conspiracy theory (being a conspiracy theorist myself, wakakaka). I also love his unwitting "humour" because he has unwittingly made me laugh, wakakaka again, but if he is indeed a PKR member I also love his assumed self-importance for his party, wakakaka a 3rd time.

But alas, I hate to spoil Timmy's fun article in saying his analysis has been far too simplistic (apart from being Illuminati-ishly conspiratorial) and thus very incorrect.

Look, even if LGE is jailed, it does NOT mean the vacant CM post goes straight to PKR despite a PKR Adun being the current DCM I of Penang.

The Penang DCM posts (there are two) are what they are, deputy CMs, with the DCM I position going to a PKR man as evidence of Pakatan coalition power-sharing.

But the Penang CM post, the state CEO, will always go to the Pakatan component party with the largest number of Aduns. Currently DAP has 19 Aduns whilst PKR only has 10.

Disregarding the snap election (assuming none is or will be held), if or, rather in my personal anticipation, WHEN Guan Eng is jailed, the next CM has to be a DAP man or woman by virtue of the DAP's majority of Aduns among the Penang Pakatan, just as the PM of Malaysia is from UMNO, the BN component party with the most number of MP.

F**ked, so there goes the Illuminati-ish conspiracy of the DAP proposed snap elections serving slyly, schemingly and sinisterly to castrate PKR in Penang, wakakaka.

But say, if a snap election were to be held, and the election outcome for so-called Pakatan Harapan partners turn out to be: DAP 16 seats, PKR 11 seats, PAN 2, guess which party gets to fill the CM position?

Why then is the DAP in a very relatively minor position in the Selangor state government when it has the most number of Aduns, 15 to PKR's 13 and PAS 13?

I'm afraid you'd have to attribute that to Selangor being different from Penang - ampun Tuanku - apart from PKR and PAS no doubt agreeing the DAP should continue playing a minor role there, wakakaka.

As I also remarked in FMT about the war of words for and against Lim Guan Eng and his proposed snap election, in politics that's to be expected. The BN supporters (UMNO, MCA, MIC and Gerakan) would criticize Guan Eng whilst DAP supporters back him. BN supporters see Guan Eng as an archfoe, politically if not personally - and as just mentioned, that's just politics - no hard feelings!

But far far more to be feared, the sinister hidden danger (like a snake in the grass) for the DAP in all these comments of 'hates and likes' would be the adverse remarks by supporters and members of PKR, a supposed Pakatan partner of DAP.

Many PKR members actually hate Guan Eng and DAP, seeing him and his party mainly through envious green-eyes. They like to bring the DAP together with Guan Eng down, even if that is to their own disadvantage.

More than anything, PKR fears the DAP galloping away ahead of it in popularity, favour and strength among the new young voters. And I suspect that could be one of the possible causes for PKR to deliberately interfere in the recent Sarawak state elections in DAP-allocated seats, seats that were allocated by Pakatan higher leadership (approved by Wan Azizah as Head of Pakatan).

PKR turned the five state seats of Mulu, Murum, Ngemah, Mambong and Simanggang allocated to the DAP instead into 3-corner contests by deliberately contesting in them, knowing full well such triangular contests would favour the BN.

The irony has been that it was PKR's Tian Chua who had insisted on engaging pollster Merdeka Center to conduct a survey on six of the 11 seats that both parties had been eyeing for that state elections.

Well, the pollster’s findings favoured the DAP in all but one of the surveyed constituencies, which we have been told pissed Tian Chua off - hardly surprising. And when he discovered the bad news from the pollster's findings ..... well you know the rest ... that's now history, but alas one seemingly repeated by PKR.

Thus it's my speculation (told you I am a conspiracy theorist, wakakaka) that the 3-corner contests in Sarawak seemed to be more about making DAP lose rather than about PKR hoping to win - a dog in the manger attitude. Yes, the circumstances surrounding the Batu Kitang case in particular persuaded me to consider this possibility, but I don't propose to go into details now (maybe next time?), so I will end here.

UMNO's tempting taunt for PKR

As political battlelines continue to be redrawn in Malaysia, with allies turning into foes and vice-versa, an Umno leader has added another twist.

Sharkar Shamsudin asked if PKR dared to oppose DAP’s decision to hold a snap election in Penang, and join hands with BN to form a unity government in the state.

Sharkar, an Umno supreme council member, said if PKR prioritised the future and interests of the people, then it would remain steadfast in rejecting the snap election.

"Politics is about opportunities... Tun Mahathir (former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad) himself once said, 'There are no permanent friends or enemies in politics'.

"Hence it is not impossible for PKR to work with BN to safeguard the interests of the people in Penang," he told Umno Online.

According to Sharkar, PKR could have the chief minister post while a candidate from BN would be deputy chief minister in a coalition government.

Wow, PKR gets to choose one of its own to be the new CM of Penang. How tempting!

And do you know something? It's very doable but just only.

The current ADUN numbers are:

DAP - 19

PKR - 10

UMNO - 10

PAS - 1

Thus PKR + UMNO + PAS = 21, a jolly majority with the constitutional rights to form the next state government of Penang.

If any PKR member is worried that the Chinese PKR Adun in Penang may not play ball, please recall, back last year in November, 4 Chinese PKR Adun abstained from voting against the UMNO proposal to stop the reclamation project.

That unprecedented action (or non-action) by the PKR Adun was effectively but treacherously the same as voting together with UMNO against the Penang Pakatan government.

Incidentally in such a new coalition, UMNO and PKR can bodek PAS kau kau by making the sole PAS Adun, YB Haji Mohd Salleh Man the new CM of Penang - Inshallah.

And PKR's Ong Chin Wen the PKR whip in the Penang DUN should not be surprised nor disappointed if the new coalition of PKR-UMNO-PAS discontinues the tradition (on both sides of the political fence since Merdeka) of choosing a Chinese to be CM of Penang.

MM Online - Will opposition parties accept Muhyiddin as PM-designate? Zaid asks

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 — Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has suggested that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin be made Opposition Leader and Prime Minister-designate, saying that he had sources confirming that the former deputy prime minister will become president of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's new "all Malay/ Bumiputera party".

Zaid said that the federal opposition needed a leader who could take over the administration of the country; as well as someone who could unite all parties including PAS.

I am fond of eccentric Zaid but I believe this time he has gone too far, in proposing Muhyiddin as the Opposition Leader, and to include PAS in a rumoured new Mahathir-led bloc against Najib's BN.

The latter (PAS as part of a coalition against UMNO when Hadi Awang has indicated he is an advisor to UMNO) is just not practical but let's leave it at that, but the former, putting Muhyiddin up as the Opposition Leader cum PM-designate is sheer bloody nonsense.

Yes sir, that is so full of bullshit. Apart from Moody being a completely unsuitable candidate, has Zaid thought of what will happen on "the morning after" the victory over BN, assuming Mahathir's newly formed party and the coalition he hopes to head with his front man Muhyiddin can win the next general election?

If the DAP agrees with such an inane suggestion, then I will no longer have any respect for the DAP for being so hard up as to accept/subscribe to such an idiotic proposal. I'll vote anyone but the DAP, even PKR, wakakaka (unless PKR also subscribes to the same nonsense, wakakaka again).

Betrayal is never from enemies

Star Online - Pua vents frustration against political 'friends'

PETALING JAYA: Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua has taken to social media to vent his political frustration against so-called “friends”.

“Sometimes, you wonder what type of friends you have. When they are in a crisis, you backed them to the hilt, come what may,” he said in a public post on his Facebook account on Wednesday afternoon.

“Then that at a time where we would appreciate their support, they leak everything to the media first leaving you completely naked.

“Or announce to the whole world openly before they bother talking to us,” Pua added.

The thinly-veiled comment might be in relation to Pakatan Harapan partner PKR not supporting the snap polls in Penang, stating that it had yet to be convinced of the purpose.

PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the party had come to the decision after a meeting that also took into account the opinions of civil society.

Amanah, the third Pakatan Harapan party, is supporting DAP’s proposal to hold snap polls in Penang.

On Wednesday, Lim stated that DAP that it was willing to give PKR a “reasonable time” to decide, but noted that the decision could not be dragged on.

Note the above highlighted paragraphs. Well, all I can say to TP is wakakakakakakaaaaaa.

For years I have observed and blogged on, that that would be PKR's modus operandi, announcing to the media disagreements with DAP without or before informing DAP it disagreed with its partner, presenting its side of the story as if it's the morally righteous party, or ...

... presenting the DAP with a fait accompli, this especially in regards to Pakatan seat sharing allocation as it demonstrated just prior to the last Sarawak state election when, despite a newly signed Pakatan so-called concordant, it unilaterally announced (meaning, without consultation nor agreement with its coalition partners) that it will contest 40 seats in Sarawak's coming state election with 15 seats including Batu Kitang being 'non-negotiable'.

Unilateral announcement; 'non-negotiable' - Wow, but those were striking examples of PKR's style of 'negotiations' and 'agreements', wakakaka.

And poor naive TP who thought he was a genius, was the silly Chicken Little promoting the rancid Kajang Satay for his PKR mateys even when that Kajang by-election, a sinister PKR unilateral move to remove Khalid Ibrahim from the Selangor MB position for its intra-party feuding and interests, was not made in consultation with DAP or PAS.

In fact both DAP and PAS were caught unaware by the announcement of Lee Chin Cheh's resignation as ADUN for Kajang. I suspect even Anwar Ibrahim were not informed because he seemed shocked, surprised and stunned when the media asked him to comment, wakakaka.

And that's what TP meant when he bemoaned:

Padan muka TP - hope this is a lesson never ever to trust PKR.

Back in 2007, prior to the 2008 GE, when PKR and DAP were negotiating over seats sharing allocations for Penang, Perak and Sabah, our dear Guan Eng got a shock when PKR demonstrated its fave modus operandi in respect to 'negotiations' wakakaka.

Guan Eng was deeply annoyed with Azmin Ali, then PKR vice-president and election bureau head, for announcing on 27 May 2007 that PKR will be going for 60 parliamentary and 120 state seats in the 2008 general election. Wakakaka, and tough luck for the DAP as Azmin's pre-emptive grab of the majority of the seats were coincidentally those in Penang, Selangor and Sabah.

Lim had then told Malaysiakini about PKR making a request to seek a revision of the seat-distribution formula, but prior to DAP considering PKR's request, Azmin made the announcement, wakakaka. Lim said:

“There must be sincerity (in the talks), otherwise there won’t be an ideal outcome. I don’t want to engage in this media game, let us (both parties) meet in private. This is the game they (PKR) want to play but I am not interested.”

Lim was of course spot on about PKR having a notorious track record of pre-empting talks with the DAP by releasing their views to the press rather than discussing those views or desired positions with the DAP in confidence. PKR did the same underhanded and undermining tactics in 2004.

It's in PKR's genes to be like so, so I have to say that TP in his dealing with PKR had been a naive tenderfoot (greenhorn). And I must reprimand Guan Eng for not sharing with TP his most unpleasant experience in so-called negotiations with PKR, wakakaka.

Prayers vis-à-vis Selena Gomez

As Selena Gomez thrilled thousands of fans in Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam, last night, some 20 members of an Islamic group performed solat hajat (special prayers) and recited Yasin just outside her concert premises.

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Darul Islah Malaysia (Perkid) president Masridi Sat told Malaysiakini last night that they did this to prevent the concert from triggering any disasters.

"Kelantan has been flooded, Aceh was hit with earthquakes. Any time, something could happen to us."

"If disaster strikes, it doesn't matter whether someone is religious or not, it will affect everyone," he said.

He said they had also gathered there to monitor the situation, adding that they were disappointed many of Selena's young fans came dressed in 'sexy' clothing. [...]

A Selangor exco from PAS was reported to have directed mosques within the state to have solat hajat last Friday to pray for the concert to be cancelled.

Well, the concert was not cancelled. In fact it went on smoothly. See also my post She moves ulama's to pray. Nonetheless we thank Perkid for their special efforts.

Secondly, the reference to the Kelantan flood is timely because it had unfortunately affected PAS' Heartland - therein lies a message for PAS members as to why Allah swt sent floods to affect Kelantan.

We're of course referring to the 2014 drastic flooding in Kelantan, resulting sadly in a number of deaths and the evacuation of hundreds of thousands from their flooded homes. Other states were somewhat affected too but Kelantan was the worst hit by the monstrous deluge.

The devastation has been sufficiently horrendous to bring out comparisons with earlier flood epics and fables of divine wrath. We were then reminded of the biblical Noah and how he and his family in a specially constructed ark survived God’s divinely ordered global flooding.

God was then finishing off every living creatures including all mankind in the fashion he massacred all the first born of Egypt a la genocide, for whatever sins(?) those newly borned babies had committed to so anger Him.

Then, Pasir Mas MP Nik Mohamad Abduh (son of Allahyarham Tok Guru Haji Nik Aziz) informed us that the worsening floods in Kelantan was a sign of “Allah’s wrath”, thus those who died as a result of flooding was, according to Nik Abduh's information, divinely finished off by none other than the very angry Almighty.

Nik Abduh reminded Muslims to return to Allah’s path, and (this was the puzzling part of his counsel) of the necessity to implement hudud in the state. Based on his own special but incomprehensible conclusion he argued that the state government must continue with its bid to enforce hudud despite strong opposition from PAS' erstwhile Pakatan ally, the DAP.

In other words, according Nik Abduh, his god has been very angry (wrathful) with Malaysians presumably mainly Muslims in Kelantan, and had thus wrecked His divine punishment by sending the floods, causing several deaths and forcing more than two hundred thousands to evacuate their flooded homes.

I had then wished Nik Abduh could explain why his god had targeted mainly supporters of PAS’ avowed intention to implement hudud as part of the legislations of Kelantan, instead of those bloody DAP people?

But after serious reflections on the above puzzling pseudo paradox posed by Nik Abduh, I believe I may possibly have the answer, admittedly through sweet secular speculations (wakakaka), based in part on what Perkid president Masridi Sat reminded Malaysiakini, that of Aceh being hit by earthquakes.

As you know, Aceh has fully implemented syariah laws as had been and still is wished for by the Kelantan PAS state government.

Thus, based on the common denominators of natural disasters affecting both Kelantan and Aceh, I'm inclined to believe that Nik Abduh's god might actually be not pleased at all by some Muslim clerics taking the law (excuse my pun) into their own hands.

It's possible that Nik Abduh's god might have wanted syariah laws to be fully implemented only when a truly pious Muslim is in control, and certainly not the current crop of Muslim clerics who had/has among them one JAIS officer previously based at Gombak who forced a woman allegedly caught for khalwat to do a blowjob for him (reported by NST, not Malaysiakini, wakakaka), or ..... 

..... the rotten pack in JAWI who raided the Zouk nightclub in 2005 and abused their powers by bullying the women detained there on whatever suspected acts of immorality (according to laws of JAWI), even unto leering at them (forcing those sweeties to pee in front of their hot hungry lustful leering eyes) and making licentious comments about their victims' genitalia (according to the unbridled unaccountable powers of JAWI).

On the Zouk nightclub raid, a Malaysian observer, SI Azhar, commented angrily to the BBC:

"If the reports were true, the officers [who] committed those acts were no better than hypocrites, trying to uphold good values of Islam but themselves never follow[ing] it. You have ashamed us fellow Malays and Muslims. Just tell me, how can we encourage non-Muslims to embrace Islam with this kind of attitude?!"

The BBC report also informed us:

... allegations have surfaced about misconduct by Malaysia's religious police during a raid on a top Kuala Lumpur nightclub last month.

More than 100 plainclothes officers from the Federal Territories Islamic Department (JAWI) detained young Muslims at the Zouk nightclub.

Female detainees complained of sexual harassment by officers and the incident has led to a heated debate about the department's future.

Eyewitnesses have now told the BBC that officers assaulted and severely beat members of the club's staff.

The sources also said that non-Muslim patrons, including tourists, who were outside the officers' jurisdiction, also reported being threatened with violence.

"Up to 150 of them came in," one witness said. "They didn't identify themselves, they didn't show any ID cards. They just forced their way in and started pushing people around."

In the days after the raid it emerged that dozens of young women were held for up to 10 hours without access to a toilet, long after male detainees had been released.

A number of women said religious officers ordered them to pose in their nightclub outfits while others were asked lewd questions about their genitalia. [...]

Oh, we mustn't forget JAWI's persecutorial oppression of Nik Raina, a heinous act very much against the justice of Islam and compassion of Allah swt.

Sadly, there is no such pious Muslim yet in Aceh, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc, and obviously and especially in Malaysia.

Nik Abduh needs to be careful not to blaspheme anymore and to further rile his very angry god.

Penang snap election will see extinction of state PAS

MM Online - Guan Eng confident of retaining Penang if snap polls held now

GEORGE TOWN, July 25 — Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said today he is confident of Pakatan Harapan’s chances of retaining Penang if snap elections were to be held.

Lim said he has faith in all Malaysians and that they would make the right decision.

“I have faith that the people of Penang want a clean government and not a dirty government,” the Penang CM said.

He said the state polls will not only allow the people to pass their verdict on the two corruption charges against him, but also on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

He expressed his confidence that the people will make the “right decision”.

“Yes, it’s a risk, I’m still confident, and if results don’t side with us, we will accept it as long as the elections are held clean and fair,” he said.

Lim insisted that having the state polls is the best way for the people to send a strong message to Putrajaya.

“If we look at Bersih 1, 2, 3, 4, BN ignored it, and even if there’s a Bersih 5, BN will ignore it,” he said, referring to his political opponent, Barisan Nasional.

Leaving aside my support of DAP (despite some current clowns in that party, wakakaka), I have to say, without being biased (not that you'd believe me, wakakaka), that Guan Eng is right.

All Pakatan (or what's left of it) needs is 21 state seats to retain majority rule in the state and form government. Currently DAP holds 19 seats, PKR 10, UMNO 10 and PAS 1. Out of the 29 seats Pakatan now holds, it only has to defend with success a minimum 21.

Probably DAP's main worry is its maverick Teh Yee Cheu (Tanjung Bungah). Will the DAP retain Teh as its candidate in Tanjung Bungah or use the snap elections to remove him? There is a danger that the locals may resent DAP removing him.

Now this is not to say the DAP needn't worry about Gerakan and MCA but if these two BN component parties are once again eliminated from the Penang political landscape, they'll be gone for good, not just by the will of Penangites but by a disgusted Ah Jib Gor, wakakaka. Thus Gerakan and MCA will be striving their utmost best a la the Spartans at Thermopylae.

But in the main, the DAP will do well. I believe that together with PKR and probably Amanah, the new Pakatan will do better than 21, though I am not too sure, with PAS playing UMNO-assigned spoiler in the constituencies with significant number of Malay voters, if it will affect some of the seats that PKR currently holds and those that Amanah may be contesting for the first time in Penang.

Understandably PKR is the most worried member in Pakatan as it dreads the inevitable 3-corner fights with UMNO and spoiler PAS, with the so-called Islamic party likely to suck away of the anti-UMNO Malay votes which PKR has enjoyed since 2008.

In a way, that of sweet justice, it's fitting worry if not punishment for PKR who had sabotaged DAP in Sarawak by treacherously insisting on 3-corner fights in the DAP's allocation of state constituencies. Reap what you f**king sow.

Over at RPK's Malaysia-Today, from a FMT article, the relevant extracts I have borrowed are as follow:

With PAS in the contest, three-cornered fights between it, Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan would divide the anti-BN vote, as was shown in the Sarawak elections in May and two parliamentary by-elections last month.

“That is an issue which we are facing,” said a senior PKR leader in remarks quoted by Malay Mail Online. “It is quite obvious that it is a given” – that PAS would contest in seats held by PKR and DAP – and that would especially affect PKR.

“We do not want to be giving Umno any dominance, and also we would like to keep our seats,” the PKR source was quoted as saying.

The PAS decision to contest would also affect chances of forming a grand alliance of all opposition parties and a new party mooted by former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who seeks to oust Umno president and prime minister Najib Razak.

There are many issues in above extracts for us to consider, within the context of the next general election which is still some two years way.

Firstly, with Mahathir's new party, assuming it will be collaborating with the current remnants of Pakatan as a loose coalition against Ah Jib Gor's BN and new machai PAS, the divided cake (seat allocations) will become smaller for each of the 3 component parties of Pakatan Harapan - surely Mahathir's new party, Melayu-Bersatu or whatever it will call itself, will demand its share.

Thus, why wait for the newcomer to demand its share, and knowing Mahathir, it will want a lion's share of the Malay-dominated constituencies, which had been assigned (in 2008 and 2013 GEs) to PAS and PKR, and which in a snap election will in general go to PKR and Amanah. Why wait for Mahathir's Melayu-Bersatu or whatever-it'll-be-calling-itself to eat away PKR-Amanah's share?

Secondly, if PKR is still dreaming of having a sweet continued alliance with PAS, Pak Haji Hadi Awang has made it plainly and painfully clear to PKR that there won't be any such collaboration - for more, please read my previous post PAS to contest EVERY seat in Penang. So PKR will have no choice but to deal with guaranteed 3-corner fights with UMNO and PAS, whether in the proposed snap election or in GE-14.

Thus, I left a comment at RPK's post that PKR has to realize it's a case of "better sooner than later" in dealing with 3-corner fights involving PAS as the latter will not resile from its intention mentioned in PAS to contest EVERY seat in Penang.

Obviously PAS must have had a secret undertaking with Ah Jib Gor to be UMNO's spoiler in GE-14, or why would it have declared so pompously and rather illogically its intention to contest in each and every seat in Penang.

I personally believe PAS' immediate strategy is not to plan anything ambitious as it has finally realized that with its irrevocable break with DAP it will no longer enjoy its hitherto strong Chinese support and its covert ambition to win some 60 federal seats and thus to dominate the now-deceased Pakatan Rakyat and for a PAS man to be the Pakatan PM.

PAS in its revised but practical pragmatic political strategy seems happy enough to accept whatever assignments UMNO will be devolving to it, principally those to kacau DAP, PKR and Amanah in 3-corner fights for BN candidates to benefit, for whatever quid pro quo Najib might have promised Pak Haji.

Thus, if PKR strikes now together with DAP in a snap election it will fare better than in 2 years' time when the BN with its deep pockets can have time to prepare well so as to do far more damage. And let's not forget the involvement by then of Mahathir's new party - more members, less share.

Additionally there's a lot of ill will currently against Najib thus the adverse radioactive fallout will affect BN candidates. Given time, Malaysians will forget - yes, they forget so easily, the most striking example being Mahathir who's now looked upon as a new Moses to take us into the land of milk and honey.

But surely the most delicious fare on plate for us in a snap election will be the complete erasure of PAS from the political map of Penang state.

Currently PAS holds only one state seat in Permatang Pasir. It's a mixed race constituency, the type Mahathir in his PM days had wanted and got, and as sweet justice had benefited instead Pakatan Rakyat in 2008 and 2013 - blame it on those bloody Chinese who had before 2008 supported BN, wakakaka.

The ethnic ratio of Permatang Pasir's 22905 voters is 73% Malays: 25% Chinese: 2% Indians. Thus 25% Chinese equates to 5726 votes, quite a heft weightage of votes.

The current PAS ADUN is Hj Mohd Salleh Man who in the 2013 GE won 13,479 votes (66.3%) against UMNO's candidate Anuar Faisal Yahaya who obtained 6653 votes (32.7%), thus HJ Salleh enjoyed a winning majority of 6826. By the by, the turnout in 2013 was 88.8% meaning no mahjung game was set up, wakakaka.

If PAS does as it has avowed to do, contests against DAP and PKR, guess how many of the 25% Chinese voters in Permatang Pasir (approx 5700 votes) will cast their ballots for PAS as they did in 2013?

I dare say not one single Chinese vote will go to PAS, unless RTA moves his voting constituency to Permatang Pasir, wakakaka.

Many of the 5700 Chinese votes (assuming no mahjung game will be in play during the snap election, wakakaka) will go to the other parties, whether Amanah (hope it gets to contest in Permatang Pasir), PKR (alternative Pakatan contestant) or even UMNO.

Thus I predict in the snap election we will enjoy the complete annihilation of PAS in Penang.

Yes, PAS may pray for the downfall of DAP but god will see to the demise of a wicked PAS, at least in Penang.
