Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Md Nor has apologised in open court to settle a defamation suit filed against him by his Selangor counterpart Amirudin Shari.
The Shah Alam High Court this morning recorded Sanusi's (above, left) apology, with other parts of the settlement remaining confidential pursuant to a consent judgment.
The defendant's lawyer Faizi Che Abu confirmed the matter when contacted.
On Aug 30, 2023, Amirudin filed a civil suit over the allegation that the Selangor menteri besar was involved with tycoon Vincent Tan in a scandal linked to the Sungai Klang cleaning project.
The defamation suit was over Sanusi's speech at the “Jelajah Mega PN Best Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera” ceramah at Dataran Darul Aman, Jitra, in the same month of that year.

Counsel Haijan Omar appeared for Amirudin.
In a statement later today, Amirudin said he accepted Sanusi’s apology.
“In the settlement in court this morning, Sanusi pledged not to repeat or publish the defaming statement again.
“Therefore, I accept his apology and his pledge. I hope we can move towards politicking based on facts for the good of the people, avoid accusations and slander so that we can focus on building the country,” said Amirudin.
Previously, Tan had also filed a similar defamation action against Sanusi.
Counsel Haijan Omar appeared for Amirudin.
