Summary
- Former Perak state executive council member Hasnul Zulkaraim Abdul Munaim lodges a police report against Gerik PAS chief Khalit Hassan for alleged slander and sedition.
- This comes after Khalit claimed Friday sermons in Perak are controlled by DAP.
- The controversy is believed to have stemmed from a Jan 31 sermon warning against slander, which was perceived as targeting Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria after his false claim about Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
A police report has been lodged against a Perak PAS division chief who alleged that Friday sermons in the state are "controlled" by DAP.
The police report lodged by former Perak state executive council member Hasnul Zulkaraim Abdul Munaim alleged that Gerik PAS division chief Khalit Hassan had committed slander and sedition against state ruler, Sultan Nazrin Shah and the Perak Islamic Department (JAIPK).
This is believed to be over a sermon on Jan 31 warning against slander, that was perceived to be aimed at Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria.
"This statement (by Khalit) clearly is aimed at inciting the people, especially PAS members by alleging that sermon texts in Perak are controlled by DAP," Hasnul stated in his police report lodged today.
He pointed out that Sultan Nazrin had rebuked imams who had refused to read the Jan 31 sermon.

Jaipk denied the sermon targeted any individuals and instead was to remind Muslims about an incident in which one of Prophet Muhammad's wives - Aisyah - was slandered during the current Islamic calendar month of Syaaban.
Four imams were suspended for not reading the sermon.
