PETALING JAYA
The government is working to strengthen Muslims’ understanding about the challenges to their faith in light of concerns by certain parties about Christian proselytisation movements in the country, says religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar

In a written parliamentary reply, Na’im said the government took a serious view of any attempt to disrupt religious harmony in society, especially as Islam is the religion of the federation.

Na’im also said the government was strengthening collaboration between religious institutions at the federal and state levels, as well as national security agencies, to monitor activities that could undermine the faith of Muslims.

He was responding to a question from Ahmad Saad (PN-Pokok Sena) about the extent of the “threat of Christianisation” in Malaysia.

Na’im said the propagation of non-Islamic religions to Muslims was a sensitive issue that could threaten the country’s peace, adding that action could be taken under the relevant state laws that control and restrict such matters.

“In addition to law enforcement, the government is intensifying efforts in education and advocacy through awareness programmes… to strengthen Muslims’ understanding about the challenges to their faith,” he said.

“The government will continue to strengthen law enforcement and intensify Islamic missionary work and educational initiatives to ensure that Islam continues to thrive in Malaysia, and that religious harmony in the country is preserved in line with the Federal Constitution.”

  1. Malay Muslims faith is very fragile and easily shattered or beguiled by other religions.

All measures must be taken to prevent Malay Muslim faith from being weakened by other religions or infidel influences .
