Canonised?

MM Online - Rafizi escapes jail for OSA conviction, released on good behaviour bond (extracts):

PUTRAJAYA, Jun 1 — PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli has been released on a two-year good behaviour bond after his 18-month jail sentence for Official Secrets Act (OSA) was overturned by the Appellate Court here today.

The three member panel at the Court of Appeal today allowed Rafizi's appeal against his jail sentence over two convictions under the OSA, and released him on a good behaviour bond of RM 10,000.

Rafizi was found guilty under the OSA for revealing official secret documents regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB ) dealings in 2016.

Rafizi's lawyer Abdul Nizam Hamid later confirmed that the bond would mean that Rafizi is no longer restricted from contesting in elections due to the OSA conviction.

Are we likely to see a PKR by-election at some stage a la the Rancid Kajang Satay?

Maybe as Selangor's MB if Azmin Ali kuai-kuai surrenders his Bukit Antarabangsa state seat to PKR colleagues? Afterall, Azmin as federal Economics Minister doesn't need a state seat. Wakakaka.

  1. Me think we really need an overhaul of the Justice system after seeing how they administer justice over the past 10 years esp those related to politics cases.

Just have a feeling that Judges also rule according to the Govt. flavour of the day.

Pity the ordinary soul under such a system.

  2. Malaysia’s Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 should be called Dog-whistle Blowers Act. Only certain authorities are allowed to hear the whistle, and if they don’t like what they hear they either ignore you or put you under investigation. The AG’s report was classified under OSA by the very people who would be incriminated by it.

  4. The Courts Bodek-ing Pakatan Harapan is just as bad as Courts Bodek-ing the UMNO administration previously.
Very urgent for the integrity of the judicial system to be upgraded.

    1. Certainly not on their priority list now, since its their own cohorts that's gotten a "Get Out of Jail" card, one by one. PH will manmanlai on this issue.

  5. They should review what qualified to be OSA and what does not qualify. To OSA information pertaining to some illegal activities not relating to national security obviously should never be legitimate. Judges are obviously task to adjudicate and perfectly right to rule that the application of OSA on certain documents such as the Auditor General's report relating to 1MDB should never be legit
