Israel’s starvation policy leaves 122 dead in Gaza, mostly children
- Gaza’s Health Ministry said hospitals have recorded nine new deaths due to starvation and malnutrition over the past 24 hours, as the total number of starvation deaths in the territory rises to 122, including 83 children.
- At least 52 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since dawn on Friday, Al Jazeera Arabic’s correspondent in the territory reports, and casualties continue to mount.
- A former US soldier who worked for the notorious GHF in Gaza tells BBC that he had “without question … witnessed war crimes” in the killing of civilians seeking food aid.
- Leaders of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom called on Israel to immediately lift its blockade on aid supplies entering the famished Palestinian territory.
Not ‘a single crumb’: Palestinians in Gaza City desperately search for food
Palestinians waiting for food at a charity kitchen in Gaza City have described the struggles they face to get enough to eat amid an ongoing Israeli blockade.
“Here’s my pot, it doesn’t even have a single crumb,” said one woman, Umm Abdullah, as she waited. “I have a two-year-old girl. I got back home with an empty pot to see my daughter screaming for having no food or bread.”
She said there were often squabbles at the charity kitchen as desperate people jostled for the limited supplies available. Previously, she said, “A pot spilled on me and I was burned so I left with nothing.”
Another woman, Riham Dwas, said: “Sometimes I get food and sometimes I don’t. My children eat if there is a charity kitchen running, but if there isn’t, then they don’t.”
Nearly 500,000 people are facing catastrophic hunger in Gaza, and at least 122 people have starved to death since Israel’s war began nearly 22 months ago, most since March when Israel imposed a total blockade.

Former US soldier alleges war crimes committed by Israeli army, US contractors in Gaza
A former US soldier who worked for the notorious Israeli- and US-backed GHF has told the BBC that he had “without question … witnessed war crimes” in the killing of civilians seeking food aid.
Anthony Aguilar told the BBC that he saw Israeli soldiers and US contractors use live ammunition, artillery, mortar rounds, and tank fire on civilians at food distribution sites.
“In my entire career, I have never witnessed the level of brutality and use of indiscriminate and unnecessary force against a civilian population until I was in Gaza at the hands of the [Israeli army] and US contractors,” he was quoted by the BBC as saying.
Al Jazeera had previously reported similar incidents, quoting Palestinian witnesses who were among those seeking food aid from the GHF.

DeleteNow below is famine, but no Isaacs in Sudan or Yemen so Nothing to See here, let’s move on to Gaza Gaza Gaza….
ReplyDeleteYemen:
UN News reports that the conflict in Yemen has caused an estimated 233,000 deaths, with a large portion (131,000) from indirect causes such as lack of food, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Save the Children reported an estimated 85,000 children under the age of five may have died from extreme hunger or disease since the war escalated.
The Wikipedia page on the Yemeni civil war states that over 150,000 people have been killed in the war, with estimates of over 227,000 dead from famine and lack of healthcare.
Sudan:
The World Peace Foundation blog estimates that 193,000 excess deaths in South Sudan (2013-2018) were attributable to hunger and disease, with a smaller proportion occurring during the famine in three counties.
Wikipedia page on Famine in Sudan notes that many thousands of deaths have occurred as a result of the famine in Sudan.
The New York Times reports that at least 150,000 people may have died in Sudan's civil war, with widespread displacement and famine conditions, especially in Darfur.
The war has resulted in 8.7 million people in acute need of water and sanitation.
Over 8 million Sudanese are internally displaced and over 3 million are refugees in neighboring countries

"Not ‘a single crumb’: Palestinians in Gaza City desperately search for food"...
ReplyDeletesoo cruel of Hamas, refusing to share it's ample food reserves with Gazans
& u?
DeleteJust continuing with inconsequential fart!
The UN uses a 1 to 5 IPC scale to measure food insecurity around the world, 1 means no food insecurity, 5 means famine.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.un.org/unispal/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/IPC_Famine_Factsheet.pdf
Some time ago UN already declared Gaza was in stage 5 meaning FAMINE. Using their own scale the calculated deaths would be in the HUNDREDS EVERY DAY, far exceeding the dozen or so deaths reported by Harm-ass and the UN Agencies themselves, and even then the reported deaths were not due to starvation but by gunshots, fired by Harm-ass agitators disguised in civilian clothes and blamed on IDF.
