Latheefa, why did you forget Pakatan's manifesto Promise 14?

‘Latheefa, quit if you have dignity’ - PKR Youth veep

Published:   |  Modified:
PKR Youth vice-president Syed Badli Syah Syed Osman has called on Latheefa Koya to step down as newly-minted MACC chief commissioner to “prove” her integrity.
He said the former PKR legal bureau chief and central committee member should have rejected the position in the first place.
This is because the appointment, a unilateral decision by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was made via improper channels without prior consultation with the parliamentary special select committee or Pakatan Harapan presidential council, said Syed Badli.
“As an individual who has constantly contested the wrongdoing and integrity of various parties, Latheefa should make her stand by rejecting the appointment.
“[...] An appointment done in this manner cannot be the practice in Harapan, as the people would dispute the transparency in the selection procedures of government agency positions,” Syed Badli said in a statement this morning.
He reminded the ruling coalition to stay true to Promise 14 of the Pakatan election manifesto, which stated the anti-graft body would report directly to Parliament rather than to the prime minister.
Promise 14 had also pledged that appointment of MACC commissioners must be validated democratically by Parliament, while Promise 16 stated that key appointments to the commission must be approved by a suitable parliamentary select committee.
“Hence, I urge Latheefa to resign as MACC chief commissioner immediately if she has any dignity,” he said.

  1. Where was Syed Badli Syah when Nor Shamsiah was appointed Bank Negara Governor, Zeti Aziz appointed PNB Group Chairman, Richard Manjalum and Tengku Maimun were appointed CJ, Art Harun was appointed EC Chief and Abdul Hamid Bador appointed IGP? Did he as much as squeak then?

Why didn't he ask all these people to resign when they were appointed without the Parliamentary Select Committee "validation or approval"? The Harapan Manifesto was there already.

  2. "Validation" and "Approval" does not equal Appointment.

    Toonise appointed Latheefa.

So the Select Committee can go ahead and refuse validation and approval. Go on....do it.

  3. Syed Badli Syah Syed Osman, why did you forget to protest the appointments of Nor Shamsiah as Bank Negara Governor, Zeti Aziz as PNB Group Chairman, Richard Manjalum and Tengku Maimun as CJ, Art Harun as EC Chief and Abdul Hamid Bador as IGP?

They were all appointed "tak ikut proses" ie without the "approval" or "validation" of the Parliament Select Committee. The Harapan manifesto was already there when Toonsie made these appointments.

  4. Wangsa Maju MP Tan Yee Kew should be the last person to demand the resignation of Latheefa because as she claimed "the appointment procedure was not followed".

According to election law if a voter forgets to bring his IC to the polling station he cannot vote. Similarly a person wanting to be nominated must bring his IC on nomination day. But she forgot.

Nevertheless the EC accepted her nomination and the Wangsa Maju voters "give chan" to her and voted her anyway.

  5. Difficult time calls for unorthodox approaches to tackle chronically deep-rooted corruptions.

Only blurred unrealistic munafiqs talks about idealistic principles in an immature society when they r standing outside the multitude of chronic issues looking in!

Many critics have other udangs too bcoz too many know what they have done in the last summer.
