Daim & Lim Kit Siang

From FB page of Shamsher Singh Thind:

'Finance Minister, Daim Zainuddin’s explanation on the circumstances in which his family companies required first 41 per cent of UMBC shares in 1984 and then increased the stake to 51% in 1985, failed to convince Malaysians that there has been no conflict of interest between his official position and this family’s private interest ...

In various meetings with government company directors and officials, Daim Zainuddin has stressed the importance of public integrity. As Finance Minister, Daim Zainuddin should set the example whereby he is prepared to allow his own private transactions, or that of his family, to be publicity scrutinized to ensure that there is no room for my suspicion that there is my conflict of interest ...

As Daim Zainuddin has given a most unsatisfactory explanation about the acquisition of UMBC shares by his family concerns, Daim Zainuddin is duty-bound to submit himself to a parliamentary inquiry committee or a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate fully into the various UMBC transactions.'

- Lim Kit Siang (Press Statement dated 22 September 1986)

orang tua mudah lupa lah

P.S. Even if we need the Council of Elders, do you think that Daim should be appointed as a council member? Is this the kind of change you expected, fellow Malaysians?

    2. Nope. I never forgot. They fought Mahathirism & cronyism until the second they died. They were men of principles unlike your PM.

  3. Kaytee, please show proof that the acquisition was not a private family business deal and is a conflict of interest in which he abused his position.

Otherwise he may sue you for slander and you lose your pants.

  5. There r management consultants & there r management con-sultants!

Mamak has indeed taken a page out from CaoCao's 乱世治国论!

During a chaotic period, u pick the best able person to run/advise an administration irregardless of his/her characters - this is known as the hypothesis of "唯才是举”.

    The selected person in charge

    - has to work double hard to make sure the department under his/her care is functioning properly so that his/her indirect interests r been protected.

    - bearing in mind that this is a chaotic period, anything under his/her responsibility goes wrong would cause him/her to lose life & fortune.

Being an able profession, he/she would do his/her best to get the best administrative results, thus directly benefit the people within the constraints placated by the chaotic environment.

In the current scenario, amongst the fives, Daim knows how the cryonic & leakage system work. He can extracts the best solution to tackle the monetary problems.

He is already rich & in his 80. Perhaps, restoring back the financial health of the country IS his best way to make peace with his god.

Moreover, he is NOT the chief of the council. These 5 persons R equal in status. There r check & balance amongst them.

Nobody is a wall flower in that council, period.

Eat yr heart out, chaos provocateur!

I like Prof Jomo & Hassan. Learnt men with good heart. Zeti is just like her father. Daim is a knowledgeable tool to ply open the intricated leakage system. RK lends some honest credibility.

      A workable team of advisors.

Kt revealed he watches I think korean dramas ( that partly explains the korean hot babes he posted up here often..he's drooling and tiring his hand over them, hahahaha ). My point is...he can be easily induced to watch that superbly produced China produced drama which might help him have just a little bit knowledge of cao cao :

  6. UMNO members will soon flood and take over Pribumi.

To restore balance, Gerakan should leave BN, take in DAP exiles like Shamser, and do what DAP used to do.

Such is the circle of life.

    MACC Chief resigns.

The MACC Chief during the time of Teoh Beng Hock's murder should also be subject to inquiry. What happened , what did you know, when did you know, did you suppress any information.

Mahathir says "the new major heads of government (agencies) will be vetted by Parliament," .

This is in line with current practice in the US (Senate) and UK (House of Commons) .
However to institutionalise this, the Constitution will have to be amended.
Will UMNO support this constitutional amendment ?

As I said, It Is Morning Again in Malaysia, after a Long Dark Night.
Mahathir was part of the Dark Night, but I dare say he understands now he created a Monster, which now has to slain.
