Focus Malaysia:
Netizens unconvinced Global Ikhwan-linked restaurant no longer serves food laced with water used to soak beard, feet
ONCE bitten, twice shy.
Such seems to be the reaction of netizens who mostly mocked the oath by staff of Restoran Ikhwan Delights in Sungai Penchala, Kuala Lumpur who denied serving diners with food laced with water used to soak the beard, feet and other bodily hair of their business owners.
“We deny the accusations hurled against us as well as other allegations that are being spread,” four male staff of the restaurant chain linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) swore by the name of Allah and His messenger that if they lied, they are prepared to face God’s wrath.
“We hope the public out there will be able to evaluate by themselves what is currently happening (to GISBH),” the restaurant staff hoped.
Previously, Malay language new portal Sinar Harian reported that workers of Restoran Nur Malaysia in Mecca, Saudi Arabia which is also linked to GISBH had also denied serving customers with food laced with water used to soak feet, beards, and other bodily hair.
“The last one who swear ended up in Kajang (Prison),” claimed a commenter in reaction to a Free Malaysia Today (FMT) post on the X platform while another accused the staff of being “kaki temberang” (literally, “big liars”).
“(The) best thing of being a cult leader is (that) you have unlimited cult members that’re willing to do all things necessary but in real life highly unlikely,” reckoned one commenter.
“Find me another bunch of workers willing to swear on behalf of the corporate entity or I’ll just say nice try, guys.”
As pointed out by one commenter, it “has often been the case that liars have the tendency to swear in the name of Allah”
A commenter who presumably had previously frequented the said eatery recalled “feeling nausea and wanting to vomit”, hence would rather “starve to death then dine there (again)”.
The brouhaha about undesirable activities linked to the Global Ikhwan Group erupted on Sept 11 following the rescue of 402 children stemming from raids on welfare homes said to be run by Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd (GISB) which was formed in 2010 from remnants of Islamic sect, the Arqam Group.IGP Tan Sri Razarudin Husain (Image credit: Malay Mail)
The exposé by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain of the rescue of 201 boys and 201 girls aged between one and 17 years old from the homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan further revealed that at least 13 of them were allegedly sodomised or taught to sexually assault others.
In fact, the police operation known as “Op Global” which took place between 6am and 11am on Sept 11 also entailed the arrest of 66 men and 105 women aged 17 to 64 who served as caretakers, religious teachers and chairpersons of the homes. – Sept 19, 2024
