UMNO Youth chief must first walk his talk of political maturity the way he preaches to Chegubard

Focus Malaysia:

UMNO Youth chief must first walk his talk of political maturity the way he preaches to Chegubard

IT IS very obvious that Perikatan Nasional (PN) activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin a.k.a. Chegubard deserves shelling for portraying Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah who is also the Mahkota state seat by-election candidate as a criminal if indeed he has never committed any crime.

This is given the police has issued a statement to clear the good name of the Kluang UMNO Youth chief by highlighting that the allegation of Syed Hussein having previously been arrested by the police for involvement in a hit crime was unfounded as the case has eventually been classified as “NFA” (no further action).

Fair enough but intriguingly, the national level UMNO Youth head honcho Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has not only come to defend Syed Hussien but also took a swipe at Chegubard who is also the Pembela Tanah Air (PETA) secretariat chairman by reminding the latter “to propagate constructive ideas and practise political maturity” during political campaigns.

This is given Chegubard had two days earlier claimed on a social media post that UMNO leaders such as Johor state assembly speaker Datuk Dr Puad Zakarshi and the party’s communications director Datuk Lokman Noor Adam “are currently in China undergoing intensive training at a political school managed by the Chinese Communist Party”.

Interestingly Bersatu in which Chegubard is the committee member of the party’s information arm at the national level has initiated a police report on the matter.

“First you accused UMNO of embracing the communist ideology and more recently you claimed that Syed Hussien is a criminal. What are you going to say next?” fumed Akmal who is also the Merlimau state assemblyman at Chegubard.

“I really don’t understand you … but just continue to be a liability to PN … it’s so pitiful that PN has someone like you, Chegubard.”

If only someone can pass the mirror to the Russia-trained medical doctor for his reaction speaks volumes of his own personality which is a liability to UMNO (unless his own party condones his behaviour or is scared to act against him) and the entire Madani government.

Beyond tormenting the harmony and goodwill among the component parties/coalition in the unity government, he has proven to be very capable of rupturing the already fragile multi-racial/multi-religious fabric of the Malaysian society with his ultra-nationalistic stance as evident from the KK Super Mart sock-gate and halal certification episodes.

Surely, it is little wonder that DAP vice-chairman Teresa Kok who is embroiled in a RM25 mil defamation suit against the Melaka Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman – the first intra-Madani government legal suit – is reluctant to share the campaign stage for the Mahkota polls slated for tomorrow (Sept 28).

Whatever the case is, former DAP stalwart Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy has been rallying non-Malay voters to send a strong message to UMNO on the basis that Akmal’s inflammatory rhetoric against non-Malays “is not an isolated incident but reflective of deep-rooted ideological phenomenon within UMNO”.

In other words, the criticism Akmal levelled at Chegubard is merely a case of the pot calling the kettle black. – Sept 27, 2024
