GEORGE TOWN: Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow has announced that he will not contest in the state party elections on Sept 22.
He said he had decided not to defend his chairman’s post despite being notified in a letter from DAP’s headquarters on Aug 27 that he had been nominated.
After due consideration, I have decided not to contest in the polls. Since I’m not contesting, you know what this means, he told reporters at Komtar here today.
Chow said he will complete his term as Penang chief minister, adding that this was affirmed by DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook.
My position (as chief minister) is decided by the party, so I leave it to them, he said.
