The armed forces say the incident happened when civilians were managing heavy traffic caused by the influx of ambulances and fire trucks.
The Malaysian Armed Forces said the incident involved three officers and seven enlisted personnel returning to Camp Marakah after completing a mission at Unifil headquarters at Camp Shama.

“At the time, civilians were managing traffic due to the influx of ambulances and fire trucks.
Suddenly, about 30 civilians attempted to stop the Malbatt vehicles, throwing rocks and puncturing the tyres with sharp objects.
To avoid further escalation, the commanding officer instructed both vehicles to pull over at a safe location and wait for assistance from the Lebanese Armed Forces.

They also coordinated a loader to transport the vehicles and Malbatt personnel back to Camp Marakah.
All personnel returned safely to the camp. No injuries were reported, although both vehicles were damaged,
the forces said.Malbatt will continue its routine duties as mandated by Unifil. We urge the public not to speculate on the incident, as it could harm the image of the armed forces and the defence ministry,
The statement comes after a video showing civilians throwing rocks at two Malbatt vehicles went viral on social media.
