5 killed in Southern Thailand by Islamic militants

Thai police reported that at least 5 people have been killed in southern Thailand after suspected Islamic militants attacked a government building in the village of Pado. They said that the militants sprayed the office real good with bullets.

Apparently police still can't reach the attacked site yet because the militants have sabotaged and booby trapped the roads.

The death toll in southern Thailand due to the insurgency thus far is 1,100.

What is worrying about the militant activity in southern Thailand is its potential to drag Malaysia into conflict or, at best, acrimonious relationship with our northern neighbour.

  1. I wouldn't use the term 'militants'. They are more like guerillas, eh...killing people in the name of religion and sh*t like that. Friggin' cowards.
