My sole purpose for writing this article is to protect PM Anwar’s government so that PM Anwar can win again in the next general election.
Malaysia is well known as one of the most corrupted countries in the world. Tun Mahathir and Tun Daim have siphoned out billions of Ringgits.

MACC seeks to forfeit billion-ringgit Ilham Tower owned by late Daim’s family. The 60-storey Ilham Tower, worth between RM1 billion and RM1.5 billion, and owned by the late Tun Daim Zainuddin’s family is the subject of a forfeiture by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

On 21st January 2025, the two sons of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad have together declared assets worth RM1.2 billion to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Bloomberg reported.
Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir declared more than RM1 billion of assets and his elder brother Mirzan Mahathir about RM246 million, the news service reported citing MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at a briefing. “Investigations into them are still ongoing, although the asset declaration is completed,” Azam was quoted.

Trade, Investment and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz proudly claimed that Malaysia did not cross any “red lines” in negotiating the recent reduction of US tariffs— from 25 percent to 19 percent. Together with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, he painted a picture of tough, principled bargaining that delivered results without compromising national interests.
In the same breath, Zafrul admitted that one of the conditions for the tariff reduction was Malaysia’s agreement to purchase 30 Boeing aircraft, valued at US$9.5 billion, for the Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG).
The order was placed as early as March this year—includes 18 Boeing 737-8 and 12 Boeing 737 10 planes. Total value US$ 9.5 billion.
Malaysia is well known to be one of the most corrupted countries in the world. How can Trade, Investment and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz buy 30 Boeing aircrafts for US$ 9.5 billion without open competitive tender???
Obviously, Tengku Zafrul he did not know or pretend not to know that Airbus is better than Boeing.
How Airbus Surpassed Boeing To Become The World’s Top Plane Maker
Airbus and Boeing have been competing head to head for decades as the world's largest commercial airplane makers, but Airbus has pulled ahead by several measures. Over the past few years, Airbus has beat Boeing when it comes to net profits, aircraft orders, deliveries and backlog.
The 30 Boeings cost US$ 9.5 billion. Assuming 10% of US$ 9.5 billion is sale commission or corruption. 10% of US$ 9.5 billion is US$ 950 million which is equal to Rm 4,000,000,000.
This highly prejudiced article written by a person who obviously knows little about aviation apart from reading sensational headlines.
ReplyDeleteThe 737 is still selling well, albeit less than A320, and there is no Game-changing superiority of the Airbus equivalent A320 over the latest 737... Airlines choose new aircraft based on their fleet operating needs and economics.
There is no such thing as the Perfect Plane, all are design compromises.
MAS currently operates 56 737s in active service, the workhorse of its short to medium haul network and ZERO Airbus A320...it would be a major , major investment and operating decision and risk to switch out of 737s.
It is ignorance and slander by Koon Yew Yin to attribute the still continued popularity of new 737 sales to Corruption...
