Summary
- Selangor PKR Youth urges the cops to probe Zaharudin Muhammad, son-in-law of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, for alleged sedition.
- Zaharudin’s Facebook post, now deleted, contained remarks allegedly targeting the recent appointment of Johnny Lim Eng Seng as Malaysia’s first Chinese lieutenant general.
- Klang PKR Youth chief Shahrul Adnan said more police reports are expected to be lodged against the Sungai Buloh PAS chief.
A PKR Youth leader has urged the authorities to investigate Sungai Buloh PAS chief Zaharudin Muhammad for sedition over a Facebook post deemed racially charged and divisive.
Klang PKR Youth chief Shahrul Adnan also called for the son-in-law of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In his police report sighted by Malaysiakini, Shahrul (above) described Zaharudin’s post, which has since been deleted, as “incendiary” and having the potential to incite racial unrest.
“I believe this will be the first police report which will be followed by more reports from PKR Youth nationwide,” Shahrul said to reporters at the Shah Alam district police station today.
He was lodging the report while accompanied by Selangor PKR Youth members.
Selangor PKR Youth, in a statement, accused Zaharudin of promoting hate and fear by allegedly targeting the recent appointment of Johnny Lim Eng Seng as Malaysia’s first Chinese lieutenant general - the second-highest rank in the Malaysian Army, the land component of the armed forces.

The PAS leader wrote of a hypothetical scenario where a Chinese individual from Kampung Sungai Baru - despite it currently being a Malay enclave - would be appointed prime minister in 2058.
“It’s not impossible that news like this will come out and be neutral in 30, 40 years from now,” he said on Facebook.
He also attached a screenshot of an article on Lim’s promotion from major general to lieutenant general, but claimed the image was just “decorative”.
Disrespecting armed forces, Agong
Selangor PKR Youth said Zaharudin’s insinuation is not just a personal opinion but reflects a “dangerous, systematic narrative that threatens to divide our multiracial society.”
They further described the post as an insult to the armed forces and the wisdom of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who serves as supreme commander.
“Lim served over 41 years with full dedication and was chosen based on merit, not race. To insult him is a disrespectful act that undermines the integrity of the armed forces,” they said.

Zaharudin has since threatened legal action against Human Resources Minister Steven Sim and a social news site for allegedly twisting his remarks.
However, Sim was unperturbed by the warning, saying he was up for a court battle.
DAP MP slams remarks as racist, divisive
Meanwhile, DAP’s Syahredzan Johan dismissed Zaharuddin’s explanation of the situation as “nonsense”.
The PAS leader earlier claimed he was trying to raise awareness of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, likening the country’s immigration policies to the Zionist settlement of Palestine, and warning it could lead to a non-Malay becoming the prime minister.
Later, he clarified that he deleted his original post not out of fear of legal consequences, but because he had not monitored its traction and noticed a flood of hostile comments, which he attributed to “cyber troopers”.
Syahredzan asked what citizenship has to do with the MM2H programme, questioning whether PAS leaders were aware that it has been in place for decades.
“Is this the quality of PAS leaders? Do they have the heart to govern the country?

“He made racist statements and then used superficial reasons to defend those statements,” the Bangi MP said in a statement on Facebook.
He said Zaharuddin had neither issued an apology nor expressed remorse for his actions, adding that the PAS leader is “passionate about suing people”.
Syahredzan then urged Malaysians who love the country’s diversity to reject divisive politics.
