DAP's euphemistic message to Teoh Beng Hock's family: Power wears out those who don't have it

DAP's euphemistic message to Teoh Beng Hock's family: Power wears out those who don't have it

It is easy to fight for what you believe in when you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

It is not so easy to fight for what you believe in when you have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

An example of this fact can be seen in how Former Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah is responding to being criticised by the late Teoh Beng Hock's sister, for yet to break his silence or take a clear stance, more than three weeks after the Attorney-General’s Chambers classified the case of Teoh Beng Hock's mysterious death as requiring no further action (NFA).

Teoh Beng Hock was Ean’s political aide when he was hauled by MACC to its headquarters. A lday later he was found sprawled dead on the fifth floor of the building. Earlier, he was giving his statement to MACC officers on the 14th floor of the building.

At that time, 30 year old Teoh Beng Hock was not the one under MACC investigation – he was just called in for questioning to assist MACC about the alleged abuse of state government funds in the Seri Kembangan constituency, which Ean was representing at the time.

At that time, when DAP was still a part of the opposition, it held nothing back to seek justice for Teoh.

Lim Guan Eng, who was the DAP secretary-general at the time, had even gotten into hot water because of the case by suggesting during the Pakatan Rakyat convention in 2010, that Teoh "was cruelly murdered".

When the police investigated Guan Eng for sedition due to his suggestion that Teoh was cruelly murdered, Ean would also stand in steadfast solidarity with Guan Eng and Teoh, and demand that the police stop their probe against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for allegedly making seditious statements and focus their efforts on finding the real reason behind Teoh’s death.

For standing in staunch solidarity with Teoh and Guan Eng, Ean would even find himself investigated by the police for intimidating the police.

But alas, that was 15 – 16 years ago, when DAP was not yet in power.

At that time, it had a lot to gain and nothing to lose by vociferously seeking justice for Teoh Beng Hock’s death.

The more DAP fought to seek justice for Teoh Beng Hock, the more it made the public believe that it stood for all that is right and just in the world. The more it made the public believe that it stood for all that is right and just, the more it inclined the public to support it to become the government of the day, so that it can do what is right and just. The more it inclined to make the public believe it would do what is just and right, the more it was able to gain public support and become the government of the day.

Since it has succeeded in becoming the government of the day, then surely DAP has moved at lightning speed to beget justice for Teoh Beng hock and his family right?

Alas, that is where the onion is.

It seems that DAP’s belief that Teoh Beng Hock was “cruelly murdered” and requires justice is tied to its identity rather than its principles.

When DAP identified itself as a challenger to the government of the day, then and only then, it seems, that it saw Teoh Beng Hock’s death as cruel and unjust.

Now that it has changed from being a part of the opposition to a part of the government of the day, its perception of what happened to Teoh Beng Hock, it seems, has also likely changed according to its change in identity.

Now that it has become the government, it seems that DAP believes that justice has already been done in Teoh Beng Hock’s case, although the AGC has filed his case as No Further Action or NFA, without holding anyone held responsible for his death.

When previously, they were so vociferous in demanding for justice when they were challenging the government of the day, now that they are the government, it looks like they are more inclined to believe that everything that could be done to get justice for Teoh Beng Hock has already been done, even if nothing at all has been done.

When the AGC closed Teoh Beng Hock’s case as NFA, the silence from DAP has been both conspicuous and deafening.

When DAP had cried so loudly against the injustice in Teoh Beng Hock's death in 2009, that even heaven could hear it, today they are not only silent about the matter themselves, they are also trying to make everybody become silent about it, so that even their own conscience wouldn't have to hear about how they have betrayed a cause that they had for so long purported that they strongly believed in.

When the association that was formed to seek justice for Teoh Beng Hock demanded that all DAP ministers resign because they have failed to produce justice for Teoh Beng Hock, despite using the services of a true believers of DAP, like the late Teoh Beng Hock, to gain power, and despite using Teoh Beng Hock’s death itself to gain support from the public to gain power, DAP, simply decided to remain silent, perhaps in the hopes that if they are silent for long enough, the outrage by Teoh Beng Hock’s family and friends will fade away in time.

When the Teoh Beng Hock association and family failed to shame DAP’s ministers and bigwigs to pressure the government to take action, Teoh Beng Hock’s sister would even publicly call upon lower level personalities in DAP like Ean Yong Hian Wah, the former state assemblyman that Teoh Beng Hock served, to use his influence to pressure the party to pressure the government to act on Teoh Beng Hock’s case, but even lower level personalities in DAP, it seems, feel like they are a more a part of the powers that be, and are refusing to act.

“Through all the sadness, I urge that the law be allowed to run its course,” Ean would reply to Teoh Beng Hock's sister euphemistically, as if to ask her to forget about the matter of her brother's mysterious and untimely death.

What else can you understand from him asking Teoh Beng Hock's sister to let the “law to run its course”, when the case has already been classified as NFA.

Dap’s response to Teoh Beng Hock’s case today, now that it is in power, reminds me of what the former Prime Minister of Italy, Giulio Andreotti, who was known for his mafia affiliation, said to a critic of his who warned him to be cautious about how he played the political games, because “power will eventually wear out.”

You know how Andreotti retorted to the warning. He said : “Power wears out those who don't have it.”

Although DAP is openly saying what Andreotti said, I think their message to Teoh Beng Hock’s family and those who are trying to seek justice for him, is the same.

The Teoh Beng Hock's association and Teoh Beng Hock's family are trying to tell DAP : “ Be wary, the power in your hands will someday wear out, if you do not use it to serve justice and righteousness.”

But do you know what DAP is trying to tell them back with its deafening and conspicuous silence ?

It is trying to tell them, "no my dear, power will wear you out , because you don't have it. Sorry for your loss, but in the end, it is you who will wear yourself out fighting against power. Regardless of what you think you can do to us, none of your attempts will succeed, because we are the ones with the power. With power in our hands, we will still succeed even if we say nothing or do nothing. You, on the other hand, can scream your heart out, but even if the gods in heaven hear you, it will achieve nothing, other than wear you out.

Worse, far worse than remaining silent, Lim KS, the Grand Olde Man of DAP had slept with the 'enemy' (MACC), no doubt for his own political ends, just a mere year after he had promised unrelenting pursuit of justice for Beng Hock. What a pathetic hypocrite.

Let us not forget Teoh Beng Hock

Alas, someone in the DAP might have forgotten
The evil that was perpetuated on a young man
By a Nazi-like organization that has been rotten
Yet easily forgiven by a political flash in the pan

All for grubby politics, none for integrity nor justice
For a man slain on the very eve of his wedding day
Oh we weep, what treachery to become so solicitous
To abandon principles, an evil crime now is gainsay

DAP leader Lim Kit Siang shook hands with Rohaizad Yaakob, a top Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) official to show the opposition’s solidarity with the MACC

Yet just a year earlier Kit Siang in his article, titled "Malaysians will not rest until justice is done for the killing of Teoh Beng Hock" said DAP and Pakatan Rakyat would continue to highlight the injustice of Teoh Beng Hock’s unresolved murder

what utter bullshit

But I haven't!

When is the MACC going to hand over to the police the person responsible for the untimely death of Teoh Beng Hock?

Forgetting Teoh Beng Hock

O so soon you've forgotten me
Hey, my late name was Teoh Beng Hock
Is that even in your memory
Or just a wee footnote in history
My story soon to become mere talk-cock

Those who sinned against me
Cursing my family with veritable untold woes
Making Er Jia a fatherless baby
And those men with no pity
Have become icons by you, your new heroes

Thou faithless headless chooks
Have further insulted my already grieving family
Giving the enemy support but not rebukes
Ever greater pain my family now brooks
All because of your sad self-interest treachery

Bhai once said don't be immoral
In desperately seeking victory without morality
Nor should one be ever unethical
But safeguard and value our principle
To never sacrifice and replace with hypocrisy

YOU UNMITIGATED HYPOCRITICAL BASTARDS!
