Hor K'aw (3)

FMT - DAP: Rocket symbol not allowed, we’ll use the word instead.

Seputeh incumbent Teresa Kok says EC officials told her to remove the rocket symbol from one of her billboards in the constituency as she was not contesting under the DAP logo this election.

I have already written on the EC ruling pertaining to Pakatan Harapan using the Blue Moon logo as the coalition's common designation or emblem. The component parties must use ONLY the Blue Moon and not their original party logo as the Rocket or Pribumi flower.

It seems sweetie Teresa lacks confidence in the Blue Moon and has naughtily resorted to an unauthorised backup, wakakaka.

But I've every confidence sweetie will still win the Sri Petaling federal constituency (previous name Seputeh). The only question is by how big a majority with the EC's sinister name change of her old political bailiwick?

But my dahleeeng sweetie, that's the price you have to pay for Lim Kit Siang's greediness in wanting to win Malay votes by stealth.

my name is lim kit siang

Aiyoyo, Hor K'aw*.

Removing GST may result in higher taxes in the future

Sun Daily - Pakatan budget: A replay of Reagan’s tax cut? (extracts):

Close examination of Pakatan's alternative budget suggests the opposition coalition's fiscal projections are based on optimism rather than realism.

Last year, GST corralled RM44 billion in government revenue (Pakatan's assumption – RM42 billion) while SST raised RM17.1 billion in 2014 (Pakatan's estimate – RM16.5 billion).

Theoretically, this will create a gap of RM26.9 billion based on government data against Pakatan's forecast of RM25.5 billion.

Pakatan claims removing GST and substituting it with SST could stimulate business activity, fuel higher consumer spending and, in turn, boost government revenue.

This argument was peddled by supply-siders in US President Ronald Reagan's administration and, more recently, by proponents of US President Donald Trump's tax cut.

Enacted in 1981, Reagan's tax cuts were so large that projections of a worsening budget deficit forced Congress to raise taxes in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1987 while later presidents signed off on tax increases – George H.W. Bush in 1990 and Bill Clinton in 1993, David Wessel, Senior Fellow, Economic Studies at Brookings Institution noted in a recent article.

"One lesson from that history: When tax cuts are really too big to be sustainable, they're often followed by tax increases," he wrote.

Pakatan may argue its budget proposals don't amount to a tax cut because GST will be replaced by SST. I disagree – creating a significant fissure between government revenue and expenditure is effectively a tax reduction.

More worrying, will Pakatan's proposed removal of GST and re-introduction of SST have a deleterious impact on Malaysia's budget deficit? Like Reagan's tax cut, could this result in higher taxes in the foreseeable future?

Malaysian under PM Mahathir in 1987

MM Online - Pakatan would unshackle Malaysian media if victorious (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — A Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government would reverse laws and policies that restrict press freedom in Malaysia, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

The Penang PH chairman said the fourth estate in Malaysia has been prevented for decades from performing its function as a watchdog of the government.

Bullshit, Guan Eng. You should check on the record of your nominated PM in regards to his intolerant attitude towards the press before you talk big.

From Wikipedia re 27 October 1987 when PM Mahathir launched Ops Lalang which imprisoned both you and your father:

In the afternoon the day following the first arrests, the Home Ministry withdrew the licences of the English language newspapers The Star and Sunday Star, the Chinese language Sin Chew Jit Poh, and the Malay language Watan.

The Star was claimed to have being targeted as it had served as an outlet for alternative views from non-established groups as well as dissident opinions from Mahathir's rival Team B, and it and the other two were also the only domestic newspapers that regularly covered the activities of public interest groups.

how he fck up Ku Li with fake news

Tunku Abdul Rahman, who wrote a column for The Star, said that "we are on the road to dictatorship", a comment which wasn't reported by the other newspapers.

[...]

Watan never fully recovered from it and closed its doors permanently in 1996. In the aftermath of the crackdown on newspapers and a subsequent legislation on press activity, editorials of newspaper started to self-censor and became cautious about the stories they ran.

According to journalists working during that period, newspapers were also advised by the Home Ministry to avoid certain issues, and editors were called for briefings with various ministries on the way a subject should be covered.

The Star itself, after its return, never regained its previous 'liberal flavour'.

The Printing Presses and Publications Act was amended to make printers and publishers re-apply their licences annually, and established an ouster clause preventing any revocation of license by the Home Affairs Minister from being called into question by the courts.

Father of all elections

Dzulkifly Abdul Razak from the Sun Daily informs us:

Next week the nation will go to the polls for the 14th time – dubbed by some as the "father" of all elections; the last one was the "motherly" version.

I suppose GE15 will be called the "grandmother" of all elections.

Mahathir's new slogan

Mahathir wants to be PM for MORE than 2 years

Malaysiakini - 'I need time to do things' – Dr M may stay on more than two years as PM (extracts):

Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he might need “two or three years” as prime minister if the opposition coalition wins the May 9 general election.

Prior to this, Harapan stated Mahathir would remain at the helm for two years, following which, he would hand over the reins to Anwar Ibrahim after the latter secured a royal pardon.

“It won't take too much time to pardon Anwar, but I need to have time in office – two years, three years – because there are things that I need to do, which my experience will help,” he told The Guardian.

Wakakaka - told you so.

He hasn't won the election yet, but he has already broken his most important pre-election promise. What other promises will he break? Like obtaining a royal pardon for Anwar?

Yes, he'll never let go, even if he lives to be a 100.

Besides he hates Anwar and Lim Kit Siang, so why should he relinquish control of ruling power to his enemies?

As I wrote in a previous post Unrepentant!:

By his words in the above recent interview, Mahathir has shown his contempt for Anwar in his (Mahathir's) belief his former deputy has been a gay. Mahathir continues to be unrepentant in his conviction that Anwar deserves to be imprisoned.

How then can such a person be relied upon to fulfil his promise to free Anwar from jail and obtain a royal pardon for him, indeed, not when he is so adamant about Anwar's guilt and deserved punishment?

Don't forget that it was Mahathir as PM when we saw Anwar Ibrahim jailed for corruption and eventually sodomy.

As I have mentioned so often, his family has longevity genes, wakakaka, thus you'll be stuck with him forever, meaning even if he lives until an auspicious 108, his son(s) will take over.

Dirgahayu Mahathir & His Dynasty.

Wakakaka.

Story of MAS shares

Malaysiakini - Report on ex-MAS' boss clip: You don't say no to the PM:

The 'PM' mentioned in headlines above refers to former PM Mahathir Mohamad.

So let it be written, so let it be done

... a video clip of former MAS executive chairperson Tajuddin Ramli is making the round on social media.

In the clip, the report said Tajuddin alleged that Dr Mahathir Mohamad's administration had coaxed him to purchase the national carrier at a higher than market rate price.

He claimed that the person who asked him to do so was the then finance minister, Daim Zainuddin, who is now campaigning for the Mahathir-led Pakatan Harapan.

Tajuddin said he was prepared to pay RM5 per unit or approximately RM1 billion for 224 million MAS shares despite the market rate of RM3 per unit at the time, or about RM600 million.

“So I was losing, paying more of RM400 million. The RM400 million if the government wanted to take a loan from overseas at the time, to get RM400 million, 'bercalar kasut' (soles of the shoes will be worn out by the amount of walking done to obtain such a fund).

“Here, I am giving RM400 million, 'sell to me at RM5'.

“After that, nothing for one whole day, next day, Daim says 'No', RM8 (per unit)...After he said RM8, I kept quiet, I said I cannot buy (at that rate).

“Then it came out, 'You don't say no to the prime minister',” he was quoted as saying in the clip.

According to Utusan Online, this is not the first time Tajuddin has made the allegation but Mahathir had denied this in his autobiography, A Doctor in the House.

Malaysiakini had also received a clip, purportedly of Tajuddin talking about Mahathir, as well as his sons.

Though it is unclear when and where the 8.31-minute clip was recorded, the remarks indicate that it must have been recent, since there was a reference to Mahathir contesting in Langkawi.

“I had admired him at the time... but looking at what he has done...wants to save Malaysia, we should be saving Malaysia from Mahathir...

“From the start...when he entered Umno, in 1969, he lost (in the election) and he never forgave Umno...he lost in 1969 on an Umno ticket, so why should Umno be alive...so before he dies, he must make sure, Umno is dead before him...” he added.

Oppose for the sake of opposing

FMT - High-earners may punish PH for no-GST plan (extracts):

The opposition coalition’s insistence on abolishing GST (goods and services tax) should it win the coming general election could be both a boon and bane for the rakyat.

The abolition of the GST is favoured mostly by those who earn less — largely those in the B40 (Bottom 40) income category.

Those earning good incomes, especially businessmen and professionals, might not be in favour of doing away with GST, as the new taxation system encourages them to work harder and earn more.

This must be surprising for some but in fact, the GST is a tool to help the government collect tax from consumption and to allow it to reduce income tax. Subsequently, it will motivate the people to work harder because of the lower income tax, thus boosting economic activities.

Should the GST be removed and the sales and services tax (SST) return, for sure the income tax will increase and eventually discourage people from working hard to earn more, as it would result in higher tax payments.

Similarly, those in manufacturing would tend to limit their production to avoid bigger turnover and subsequently a hefty tax payment.

In other words: the harder you work, and the higher your income rises, the more tax you have to pay.

A diversified tax system that relies on income and consumption taxes is superior to one that relies excessively on income tax.

Adli Amirullah, economic and business research coordinator at the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), says that reverting to SST may not guarantee that the prices of goods and services will come down.

He even warns that bringing back SST may increase the prices of goods because of double taxation in the tax regime.

I know, you know and the federal opposition know that the GST system is far far superior to the SST system and a strategic boon for the nation, and also that the GST system has been designed to return the money collected to the poorer and middle class people which are usually the higher spender.

Under the GST system, many fresh consumables like rice, fish, prawns, raw meat, vegetables, cooking oil, even petrol, etc are NOT tax-ed.

Whether the GST system is properly run in Malaysia, with some exploitative people currently taking unfair, illegal and unscrupulous advantage of it, it will nonetheless become more correct and sufficient in the near future.

But politics demand novelties especially from opposing sides, thus the federal opposition (sadly) sees fit to oppose the ruling party's GST system just for the sake of opposing, even if in their hearts they know it's a good system.

Politics is no doubt dirty but it shouldn't be negative nor destructive to the nation. Alas, that would be like preaching the Guru Granth Sahib to the Hallelujah Hosanna Hordes, wakakaka.

Unrepentant!

Malaysiakini - Do you still think Anwar is gay? Dr M: I didn't examine him (extracts):

The feud between Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his former heir-apparent Anwar Ibrahim made headlines around the world two decades ago.

Now, their alliance is also making headlines.

In an interview with The Guardian, the former premier is confronted with this question and his current opinion regarding Anwar's sexual orientation.

Asked if he still believes Anwar is gay, Mahathir replied: “Well that is what the police told me.”

“I didn’t examine him, but I am dependent on the police and I have to accept their evidence,” he added.

On whether Anwar deserved to be in prison for this, the Pakatan Harapan chairperson was clear on how he felt about the matter.

“I'm a Muslim, we don't accept that. You can be a liberal and accept same-sex marriage and all that, but that's your business. We are very orthodox people,” he said.

Don't forget that it was Mahathir as PM when we saw Anwar Ibrahim jailed for corruption and eventually sodomy.

fck anwar!

totally unrepentant

Utter contempt for anwar

The ribbit ribbit ribbit factor

FMT - 250 PKR members quit over Tuaran candidate (extracts):

A total of 250 PKR members in Tuaran quit the party today and pledged their allegiance to Upko, citing disappointment with the party’s choice of candidate for the election.

Sabahans may be smarter than Peninsular people for their political astuteness, but they are prone to metamorphosis, wakakaka. It's the land of frogs.

Anwar Ibrahim knows them so well that in the 1994 state election he as then-DPM (under Mahathir) and thus BN Director of Election Campaign in Sabah could changed the state's post-election status such that the supposedly winning new CM Joseph Pairin Kitingan by a manmanlai ribbit ribbit ribbit became the state opposition leader, wakakaka.

Pairin - victim of frog-attack in 1994

Bad omen

The recent appearances of Daim Zainuddin at rallies organised by Azmin Ali and Wan Saiful are harbingers of the return of bad olde days of privatisation ( called piratisation by Lim Kit Siang), cronyism and wanton spending by a former unchallenged unquestioned PM.

PAS numerology?

FMT - PAS’ Norsah sees divine sign of victory (extracts):

Norsah (centre) is confident things will turn out well for PAS in Batu Sapi

KOTA KINABALU: PAS election candidate Norsah Bongsu believes that her party has divine sanction in its decision to contest in Batu Sapi and the two state constituencies that come under it.

She told FMT that PAS was given Registration Number 01 for the Sekong contest, another 01 for Karamunting and 04 for the Batu Sapi parliamentary contest.

She pointed out that 114 is the number of chapters in the Quran.

“This is a sign from God that we are on the right path to winning in Batu Sapi,” she said.

Norsah is PAS’ candidate for both Batu Sapi and Karamunting and the party’s sole woman contestant in Sabah.

I have a feeling sweetie Norsah Bongsu has a sprinkling of Tionghua blood as she is like my late mum in dabbling in numerology to 'dapat' her 4-ekor, wakakaka.

Penang Hokkien call the technique 'ch'ai' which means 'guess' or in more sophisticated numerological term, 'divining', wakakaka.

My late mum even had two numerology 'dictionaries', wakakaka, one by Tua Peh Kong and another by some other deity.

Fake news on GST

It is obvious many Malaysians do not understand or have been duped into believing the GST is an accumulative tax system.

I obtained this extract from Malaysiakini 'Yoursay':

Zekir Naik Kunta: Before Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced, many goods had sales tax exemptions.

But with GST, there is an additional cost of 6 percent applicable to all products, and depending on the number of distributors to end user in the distribution chain, the consumer would end up paying about 12 to 24 percent in cumulative taxes.

What about other factors? The cost of employing an accounts officer or outsourcing the job to accountants to do the GST accounts is an additional few thousand ringgit, as the GST law is barbarous.

And since traders are also end users for products we buy for personal use, we are also paying GST. So we have to mark up prices by 30 percent as subsidies for petrol and others have been removed, to compensate for our additional costs. It's, therefore, better to remove the GST.

I feel sad for big families, especially during the year end when families go shopping for school bags, shoes and so on, because of the GST they have to pay. It's no use having BR1M, as the GST amounts to more than what the government gives.

An average family would end up paying approximately RM3,000 in GST a year, so what the right hand gives as BR1M, the left hand takes more than double in the form of GST.

When the country was without GST, there was lower cost of living, and the government gave many subsidies. It's only now with so much corruption that the government has to resort to GST.

This will be the general view of GST, a 'fake news' view like GST-ed kembong and kerang, that will prevail until the public is better informed.

only bullshit is GST-ed, wakakaka
