Malaysiakini is calling the Tanjung Piai by-election for BN.
BN is on track to crush Harapan with a five-figure majority.
Malaysiakini estimates the turnout to be around 75 percent, which translates to 39,739 votes.
With BN's votes at 20,352, they have garnered more than half of the total votes.
Therefore, there is no possible way for Harapan to close the gap.

ReplyDeleteYes, this is the ultimate humiliation for Toonsie and Bersatu. Even though Toonsie himself campaigned for 2 days, and Muhyiddin the former MB of Johor planted himself there in Tanjung Piai for 2 weeks, they still lost by a country mile.
ReplyDeleteToonsie and Bersatu, claiming to be the champion for Malays, fielded a Malay candidate and lost to a Chinese from MCA. What a joke.
This also is the best possible result for Harapan, because DAP, PKR and Amanah, with their combined 100 seats can tap Toonsie on the shoulder and demand he step down as PM. It is blatantly clear Toonsie is not the leader we need and neither is Bersatu the powerful party it claims to be.
Toonsie and Bersatu must relegate themselves to their role as a minor coalition party with only 13 seats (tadpoles don't count). We can expect a lot of banging of tables at the next Harapan Presidential Council meeting.
