KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 — Muslims in Federal Territories (FT) were told yesterday that voting for non-believers in the upcoming general election is permissible by the religion.
However, FT mufti Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad said “top posts” such as the prime minister and defence minister must continue to be held by Muslims.
“The initial rule for voting for non-Muslims in the election and appointing them as leaders is ‘harus’,” he wrote in an explainer article published on his office’s website, using the local Muslim term that means “permissible”.
Zulkifli said the only factors that should curb adherents from voting non-Muslims are when such a move would threaten the sanctity of Islam, and if the leaders are untrustworthy or incompetent.
“All these factors should be taken into account in making the decision before voting and choosing, except when ensuring that the country’s top posts such as prime minister, Islamic affairs portfolio, and national defence remain to be held by qualified Muslims only,” he added.

Wakakaka, I can understand why the Mufti wants the posts of PM and Minister of Islamic Affairs to be only Malays, but I can't on why only Muslims may be allowed to assume the duties of the Defence Minister?
A Muslim like, hypothetically speaking, naturalised Indian-Muslim Dr Zakir Naik? Or people who are chummy yummy with our nation's enemies?
In a number of my posts, I have written about Chinese and Indian Malaysians who died or were wounded or underwent extreme circumstances for and in the defence of Malaysia, especially among the police and Malaysian armed forces. Some of those heroes were awarded the SP, PGB and state gallantry medals.
Seri Pahlawan Gagah Perkasa (SP) Nation's highest award for gallantry awarded for act of extreme bravery and valor |
For more, see my post Not all CT were Chinese, not all heroes were Malays.
Aren't such dedicated Chinese and Indian Malaysians and their sons and daughters allowed to be Defence Minister, assuming they have been successfully elected as MPs under a ruling government?
Let me tell you a secret - the job of Defence Minister is not all that powerful, lucrative perhaps wakakaka, but it sucks when it comes to power in our nation's politics.
I have included a list of our Defence Ministers here, and ignoring those Defence Ministers who were PM at the same time, I dare say none were/are ever powerful in the scheme of Malaysian politics. If shit ever comes to shove, the PM himself or a National Emergency Council will step in to commandeer the military.
The far more important ministerial post on a day-to-day basis would be the Home Minister who is in charge of the police (including its SB).
That's who Mufti Zulkifli should be worried about, that the post remains in Malay (not just the generic Muslim) hands.
But I am disappointed there still exists this paranoia about non-Malays who have already shown their dedication, love and loyalty to Malaysia.
I am disappointed why you exist in this world. Anyway, does it matter? Empty talks. You fuck put in australia la
ReplyDelete"FT mufti: Okay to vote non-Muslims, but PM, defence minister must stay Muslims"
ReplyDeleteLet's hear also religious rulimgs from the Christian Archbishops, Indian Priests, Buddhist Monks and all other Heads of religions in Malaysia.
Why quote only from him?
The point is "Are these posts within his powers to appoint?"
Is it in the Constitution?
If not, why bother or get flustered with religious rulings.
it's called political influence or influencing by religio-politico means
DeleteThe zombies, the ketuanan freaks & the blur-sotongs have this meme-ed gene of siege mentality of inferiority complex.
DeleteTo relax this induced sense of enemy--everywhere, the top man, aka the pm must be a kaum alifbata, supported by the military - thus the ministry of defense!
Why r u so actingly naive?
