Muslim single mums get short ends of sticks

FMT - The harsh reality of life as a Muslim single mother by Mariam Mokhtar (extracts):

The plight of Muslim single mothers is an all too common story. However, it is left largely untold because it embarrasses the family, the community and the country’s institutions.

Those who have been abandoned by their husbands struggle to feed themselves and their children. Despite court decisions that the men must pay alimony and maintenance for the children, many single mothers say they receive no money due to poor enforcement.

The problem of errant former husbands has been around for a long time. Many women are desperate to find work but must pay for childcare while they are on the job. Those with no skills at all are the hardest hit. They work two or three jobs just to bring home enough money to feed their families
.

I know that Chinese single mums in general embarrass the families BUT never the community and the country’s institutions. Yes, with the more conservative Chinese, a divorce is a social stigma.

That have been why many Chinese women (including Chinese men) avoid divorce even though they live unbearable married lives.

Furthermore, men usually think salaciously of single mums and/or divorcees, believing in their perverted minds that those women would be sluttishly gatal (miang) and thus easy "preys".

Sad as it may sound, that's the lot of single mums and/or divorcees.

But the truth, sad as it is already, is even far more sad for those without money or means of income. Recently in Terengganu, a Muslim single mum was caught and charged for solicitation with the likelihood she will be caned.

Malaysiakini reported in its T'ganu single mother faces up to six strokes of the cane, extracts as follows:

A 30-year-old single mother from Kuala Terengganu today pleaded guilty to a charge of offering sexual services and faced punishment that included being caned by up to six strokes.

Online portal MStar reported that the woman was arrested in a hotel room by a team of enforcement officers from the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department, at about 10.45pm on Sept 17 while offering sexual services to an unidentified man.

The report said the woman, who has a daughter, pleaded guilty before Kuala Terengganu Syariah High Court judge Rosdi Harun. [...]

She was charged under Section 25 of the Syariah Offences Enactment (Takzir) 2001 which carries a punishment of up to three years jail, a fine of up to RM5,000, caning of up to six strokes, or a combination of the three.

During mitigation, the woman pleaded for a lesser sentence as she could not afford to pay the fine.

The accused also explained that she had not been receiving any alimony from her ex-husband
.

Of course she pleaded for a lesser financial sentence as she in the first place had to resort to prostitution to earn a bloody living, yet the fine if she is found guilty can possibly be up to RM5,000.

What a fCk-up state of affairs.

And her customer is an unidentified man. May I ask what punishment or fine has he been charged with?

And her husband who did not cough up the requisite alimony? I get the dirty feeling he will no doubt get away with that irresponsibility.

Mariam Mokhtar has been absolutely spot on in her article (above), that despite court decisions that the men must pay alimony and maintenance for the children, many single mothers say they receive no money due to poor enforcement.

Those errant husbands should be the recipients of syariah caning, not women.

Mahathir's BLACK pocket notebook

FMT - How Dr M’s pocket notebook keeps ministers on their toes (extracts):

BUTTERWORTH: A federal minister has given a glimpse into what goes on during Cabinet meetings chaired by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the 93-year-old has left his younger ministers in shock and awe with his sharp mind.

He said most of the Cabinet members are amazed at how the prime minister at his age could still be on top of things, from small issues to big ones concerning the world and the economy.

He said at every meeting, the PM would begin with a preface session, where he talks about all matters local and global.

Saifuddin said during the meeting which could last between 60 and 90 minutes, ministers would be anxious and on their toes about one thing: a pocket notebook the PM carries in his pocket.

Saifuddin said that book contained Mahathir’s astute observations on his surroundings and all matters.

“He would take this book out of his pocket and he will talk about all and sundry.

“For instance, he would read out: ‘I was driving along the Putrajaya Bridge and there was one one street lamp with this particular serial number that was not lit up. And then at one junction, there is a garbage bin loaded with rubbish, but uncollected. I also saw a spotlight at the (Putrajaya) lake, which was supposed to be lit up to beautify the lake, but was not lit up’.”

Saifuddin said Mahathir would then look up and ask, “Which minister is responsible?”

“Then we would all look at the federal territories minister, and put him in a spot. Our PM is one that micromanages,” Saifuddin said with a laugh
.

Keeping his ministers on their toes is indeed the correct expression, and exactly what Mahathir intends to do at every cabinet meeting.

BUT is it fair for Mahathir to ask the minister responsible to answer questions about this street lamp, that rubbish bin and a spotlight at Putrajaya Lake?

One gets the impression Mahathir's tactics are to terrorise rather than elicit answers.

Next he'll be asking Mat Sabu to provide him with a daily DETAILED state of RMAF aircraft serviceability, or Guan Eng to provide explanations on, say, why looes74 hasn't paid his income tax since 2004? Wakakaka.

But far more worse will be the start of any detailed police dossiers on the peccadilloes, private lives and personal sins of his ministers.

Why is HM Sultan Johor angry?

Malaysiakini - Chinese letter by Harapan councillor earns wrath of Johor sultan (extracts):

Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has asked a Pakatan Harapan local councillor to resign if he does not know how to do his job.

This was after the councillor for Zon 8 Taman Bukit Indah, Chan Wei Kjhan, issued a letter in Chinese using the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) letterhead. [...]

Sultan Ibrahim said any official letters involving state government or local authorities must use the national language.

The letter was an invitation for residents to attend a dialogue with Perling assemblyperson Cheo Yee How and MBIP representatives to discuss a road divider. The letter was signed by Chan.

Prior to the sultan issuing the statement, Cheo apologised for any offence caused.

"The letter was actually written in the national language, with the Chinese and English versions only included as attachments," he said. [...]

Apart from the Bahasa Malaysia version of the letter, Chan had also written versions in both Chinese and English. Both carried the MBIP letterhead.

The issue of the letter was first raised by former Johor menteri besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Cheo had accused Khaled of misleading the public by only highlighting the Chinese and English attachments
.

Well, HM Sultan Johor is pissed off (anyone knows palace language for this term? wakakaka) because official letters in the state have never been multilingual.

I have two questions and one observation - I'll start off with the observation, to wit:

... that former Johor MB Mohamed Khaled Nordin was the sh*t-stirrer, wakakaka. His raising of the letter being in the Chinese language sparked off HM's ire, but as an UMNO man that's right up his alley, to ganggu Pakatan in the way Guan Eng had earlier ganggu Mahathir with the FM's Chinese language media statement.

By logic, it's a trivial matter as the Chinese and English versions were only attached translations of the actual official letter which was in Malay. Thus HM's anger might have been more than just a letter, perhaps an accumulation of various earlier annoyances. Besides, his show of royal indignation on such an issue does not match his normal character.

The two questions I have are:

(a) much as Guan Eng's earlier example has set a bad precedence for Chinese translation to normally official Bahasa letters or notice, is that prohibited?

At that time PM Mahathir brushed Guan Eng's faux pas aside, saying, “It’s a minor mistake, I don’t want to make it an issue. Sometimes we make mistakes."

"I think he issued it in three languages, but for the Chinese audience he issued a statement in Chinese, that’s all.”

“We are not going to advise
[Guan Eng]. He made a mistake, not intentional. He can issue a statement where he is empowered. When the announcement should be made by him, and that’s what he has done”
.

So it was an administrative mistake by Guan Eng though not an earth-shaking one, unless someone like Khaled Nordin wanted to make a Bahasa mountain out of a Chinese molehill.

Thus, for Chan Wei Kjhan (Johor councillor for Zon 8 Taman Bukit Indah) to repeat a mistake was not a bright idea. But then we need to ask: is it prohibited?

(b) HM Sultan Johor is a constitutional monarchy of his state, so really, should he be involved in such an agitated state on a trivial administrative-political matter?

As we heard from Thomas Macaulay: A constitutional monarch is "A sovereign who reigns but does not rule".

Latest rumours on Peh Mor

Heard he has done a deal with you-know-who, for immunity from prosecution by authorities, by stepping down from his current post, and surrendering some of his wealth.

The grapevine says you-know-who believes it's more convenient the rumoured way because the alternative will be a long long trial.

But rumours sahaja.

Is PKR the reincarnation of MIC?

Malaysiakini - Rafizi cries sabotage in PKR polls, wants 'troublemakers' locked up:

Above: Dökkálfar Dwarfs (Latheefa Koya not shown)
Below: Pandan Cats (including the Trinity of Mother, Daughter and the Holy Fan)

PKR POLLS | PKR deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli alleges that there are certain groups who are intentionally trying to disrupt the party election.

These groups, Rafizi said, aim to trigger chaos if they feel like their preferred candidate is about to lose.

"When they feel they are about to lose, there will be people out to provoke, they will start to get angry and want to hold protests.

"The candidate who feels he is about to lose has planted such troublemakers.

"I will express this to (PKR president-elect) Anwar Ibrahim, and after this we will ask for cooperation from the police and the MACC.

"There are people who are out for blood, we will call for the police to put them in lockup," he said in his speech during a Pasukan Reformasi 20 Tahun gathering last night, as reported by The Malaysian Insight.

Kedah PKR was forced to suspend nine of 15 division elections yesterday after tensions flared among members unhappy with the newly implemented e-voting system.

Subsequently, the election committee announced in a Seberang Jaya press conference that the results from all Kedah divisions would be invalidated, but that the results from the Penang divisions would stand.

This led to a fight breaking out, with one member trying to fend off others with a banquet chair, and another individual throwing a chair as a projectile.

A number of state party polls were also postponed, such as in Johor, Perlis, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Malacca.

'Polls were in my favour'

In his speech yesterday, Rafizi also claimed that the party polls in Penang were favouring him, even though it was a well-known stronghold for his opponent, incumbent deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"In Penang, the chairperson Mansor Othman is Azmin's good friend, and is seen as a stronghold for the 'cartel team'.

"But the results coming out from the divisions were showing that even if I did not win, I am only a few tens or hundreds of votes behind," he said to a crowd of about 200 PKR members.

PKR Youth chief candidate Afif Bahardin, who is aligned to Azmin, said last night that his team would send an official protest letter to PKR election committee calling for the Penang election results to be cancelled
.

The short history of PKR is replete with stories about scandals of its several party polls through the years. They have resulted in many party stalwarts leaving PKR in absolute disgust at shifty tactics exhibited during the polls.

Aeons ago, I think 2010 wakakaka, there were dodgy questions surrounding its party polls especially in Sabah. Specifically, the poll was to elect, surprise surprise, the party deputy president. In those early days (as it is to a lesser extent today) the presidency stayed with either Anwar or his wife, so the battle royal would be (still is) for the deputy presidency.

The party was in uproar as one accused another and vice versa, of bettering the election actions of the notorious EC, wakakaka again.

To resolve the acrimonious dispute, erstwhile PKR stalwart Jonson Chong (and a neutral in the party fractured fractions) wrote a personal letter to then party president Dr Wan Azizah about the questionable party polling process.

There were 162 complaints about polling irregularities in the party race for the deputy president's position, and the PKR JPP, the party body which was supposed to manage the party polls but which seems to have surrendered the management to the party secretariat, did nothing nor addressed any complaint. Yes, the party secretariat became the de facto JPP.

Leng chai Jonson Chong, then one of the leading lights in PKR, was so alarmed by the reported naughty EC-style happenings that he gave a diplomatic opening to Wan Azizah the de jure (not de facto) party leader, for her to review the less than kosher proceedings.

Jonson Chong

Jonson in an open letter to Dr Wan wrote (essential extracts only):

Dear Madam President,

Please allow me to make one final plea to you for the sake of our Party's future.

Keadilan's current state of affairs, to say the least, is profoundly disturbing and sad. Indeed, not only party members but all our supporters are extremely disappointed by the manner in which our party election is conducted. […]

Now, whether we like it or not, the credibility and image of Keadilan is at an all-time low. This is nothing less than a crisis for the Party. […]

Currently, there are many doubts about the integrity of our Party's electoral process. I believe that if we can show the public that we are sincere in rectifying whatever irregularities, perceived or otherwise, then we will have taken the first step to salvage Keadilan's tattered reputation.

Hence, I humbly suggest that we take the most dubious incident as a litmus test to show, once and for all, that our Party election is free from irregularities. I am referring to the Libaran results, which shows an impressive but incredulous 60 percent turnout of voters.

If agreed by you, Madam President, I will personally help raise the necessary funds to engage an independent and professional audit firm to scrutinise the polling results of Libaran. With the large number of generous Keadilan supporters who are still hoping that we will do the right thing, I am confident that resources can be arranged to carry out this important task.

If the Libaran results are certified to be free from irregularities, then I will unequivocally accept the Party's overall election results. I believe all other contestants will do the same. However, if the audit results show otherwise, then a resolution must be passed at the upcoming National Congress to nullify the results of the Party election.

We are now at a critical point in our Party's history. We must show that Keadilan is true to its own name. Not only must justice be done but it must also be seen to be done.

Madam President, right now, the Party needs you to take charge and lead us through this challenging period
.

Did anyone in PKR (or even outside the party) hear anything from Wan Azizah?

I had, remembering that she said:

"We had a meeting yesterday and we leave it to the central elections committee (CEC) to address the complaints. It is all a misconception that the CEC is not taking the complaints seriously, but they are."

She was as she still is today, as the Women Minister - she didn't seem to understand or didn't want to understand that the (then) PKR CEC was the one NOT doing anything about the 162 complaints. She did NOT answer Jonson Chong’s offer of financially supported audit of the party polls of one PKR division, Libaran.

Renowned socio-political activist Haris Ibrahim (the real reformer) praised Jonson for his constructive approach to personally fund an audit into the Libraran polling, but alas, not so Dr Wan who ignored Jonson completely.

Yes, Jonson's plea and financially-supported offer to Wan Azizah was like pissing in the wind.

Anyway, Jonson was so disappointed by both Wan Azizah's rather discourteous cold-shouldering of his constructive and valid proposal and the arrogance of the inner coterie in its refusal to truly investigate into party members’ complaints about the dodgy party polls.
Terence Netto of Malaysiakini also wrote that the PKR JPP was frozen stiff like a deer caught in a car's headlights. It did not provide any answer to the 162 complaints.

Unsurprisingly, Jonson Chong and a few members left PKR - mind you, not that the feudal warlords cared two hoots as Jonson was not/never a member of the PKR inner coterie.

The weak leadership of Wan Azizah has contributed to poor questionable doings within PKR where its UMNO-style Don Corleone's thrive.

Subsequent party polls saw even Zaid Ibrahim throwing in the towel in sheer frustration, and the suspension of Chegubard and his eventual resignation.

Indeed, Chegubard gave us horror stories about the polling in Teluk Intan and Sabah, where the actual turnout at Sandakan and Libaran was only about 200, and not the official figures of 898 in Libaran and 456 in Sandakan, wakakaka.

Incidentally Azmin Ali was the winner where he ‘swept’ virtually (almost) 100% of the votes at Libaran, Sandakan, Tawau and Tenom, wakakaka.

Chegubard said the votes for Sandakan and Libaran were not tallied at the polling centre and, like at Kubang Pasu, the candidates' agents were not allowed to be present during the counting process, wakakaka again!

Did Wan Azizah take any action? That was a rhetorical question, so no answer required as within the question was also the answer, wakakaka.

Fast forward to 2014 to remember that Dr Wan said there's room in PKR for dissent, and we wonder why she had in 2010 ignored Jonson Chong's proposal which wasn't even a dissent but an attempt to constructively resolve the party polling turmoil then?

Yes, let's ask ourselves why did the party president ignore a constructive proposal from a sensible, fair and balanced gentleman like Jonson Chong which would have put to rest all complaints if his proposed audit (funded by Jonson himself) showed the polls had been conducted fairly?

Could it be she was worried Jonson's proposal might open the PKR Pandora Box? Wakakaka.

WTF, shut the box before the stench overpowers everyone

Dr Wan was then one of the sacred cows, in fact the MOST sacred cow in PKR, more so than her daughter or husband, not unlike a Mother Teresa and Joan of Arc combined, but her inaction in 2010 led many to question her reformasi credentials. Furthermore her incredulous description of hubby as 'God's gift to the people' left many breathlessly flabbergasted, wakakaka.

from 2010? wakakaka

Keadilan (justice)?

I am sure by now most of you know that Art Harun has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the EC. Well, this was what he said back then in his post What does the ‘K’ in PKR stand for?

Art wrote: I don't know about how they feel and think. But frankly, in my perception, PKR is so full of crap than it would even dare to admit.

And if the farce that PKR calls and labels as party elections is to be a yardstick of its ability to govern this country, I would rather vote for the Siberian Husky in front of my house. And by that, I don't mean to insult the dog.

Wakakaka.

And right on cue, Malaysiakini published Rafizi cries sabotage in PKR polls, wants 'troublemakers' locked up.

'Someone' in PKR is determined not to lose his Crown Prince position.

Mahathir will NEVER change

Star Online - Dr M: Proton was a success (extracts):

LONDON: Still championing his cause for a third national car project, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad rubbished claims that Proton was a failure.

At a dialogue session with about 200 Malaysians in the United Kingdom, he argued that the first national carmaker had achieved much success under good management, according to Bernama.

He said Proton had accumulated RM4bil in reserves and built a plant in Tanjung Malim with its own money without asking for government assistance or borrowing from the bank.

According to him, Proton had been a success until foreign cars were allowed to enter the country unrestricted, with conditions imposed on the sale of Malaysian cars in other countries.

“It was all about importing their cars, not exporting ours. Of course, if you don’t export your cars, you don’t earn foreign exchange.

“If you keep buying foreign cars, you will lose a lot of money every year,” he was quoted as saying by the national news agency.

At the 24th Nikkei Conference on the Future of Asia in June, Dr Mahathir revealed that his government was planning to work on a new national car project.

However, many Malaysians did not respond positively to the suggestion, asking instead that the public transport system be improved.

In the London dialogue session, the prime minister continued to champion the third national car project, but reiterated that the government will have to ask the private sector to implement it as Putrajaya does not have enough money.

Pakatan's gross mistakes on GST and BR1M

FMT - Economist: An ageing nation needs GST:

Economist Firdaos Rosli says the 6% GST should not have been abolished but its rate reduced and exemption list tweaked

KUALA LUMPUR: An economist has criticised the government as being short sighted in its decision to scrap the goods and services tax (GST), saying it has apparently failed to consider the reduction in income tax collection as the Malaysian population gets older.

Speaking to FMT, Firdaos Rosli of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (Isis) noted government statistics showing that the proportion of elderly Malaysians has been steadily increasing, from 5.4% of the population in 1970 to 8% in 2010.

According to the statistics, the elderly will make up 23.6% of the population by 2050.

“The government cannot generate revenue from retirees,” Firdaos said. “That is why the GST was important in collecting revenue from a broad group of people.

“The sales and services tax (SST) is inherently weak in collecting taxes because it has a narrow base and a lot of room for tax evasion.”

He said the 6% GST should not have been abolished but its rate reduced and exemption list tweaked.

He also disagreed with the government’s plan to eventually abolish the 1 Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M), saying it should be allowed to remain as the only cash transfer aid.

“If we abolish BR1M and boost other subsidies like fuel subsidies, this will be a worse option of helping the poor because blanket subsidies benefit even those who don’t need it,” he said.

He cited research showing that recipients of cash transfers purchase goods that help them become more productive. These would include food to keep them healthy, he added.

However, he said the continuation of BR1M must come with the abolition of all other cash aid so there wouldn’t be any overlap.

“If we have only one form of cash aid, we can evaluate its effectiveness and set targets,” he said. “If we have multiple cash aids like we do now, it is difficult to determine how the money is used and how effective the different forms of aids are.”

Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is on record as saying that BR1M made people dependent on the government, but Firdaos said there would always be pockets of people needing help.

Mahathir-Maszlee capati-ed PTPTN borrowers

FMT - If you borrow, you pay, Maszlee tells PTPTN defaulters:

KODIANG: The education ministry today called on all quarters, including the opposition, to cease linking the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto for the 14th general election.

Its minister, Maszlee Malik, said borrowers, regardless of the loans they took, were obliged to settle them.

“Whatever the manifesto says, the borrowers have to pay the loan.

“The opposition, they just want to politicise the issue.
When you borrow money, you have to pay, even at RM10 a month,” he told reporters after a visit to Sekolah Kebangsaan Siputeh. [...]

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had three days ago expressed regrets with the untrustworthy attitude of PTPTN borrowers for defaulting on their loans, resulting in arrears in unpaid loans totalling RM36 billion.

According to Mahathir, the loan defaulters included those who already secured jobs.

PH, in its general election manifesto, stated that it would defer repayment of PTPTN loans for borrowers earning RM4,000 a month and below
.

Actually I agree with Maszlee that if you borrow loans you MUST repay, though how and when can be worked out in a compassionate and practical way.

To reiterate, PH, in its general election manifesto, stated that it would defer repayment of PTPTN loans for borrowers earning RM4,000 a month and below.

Mind you, he is obviously doing exactly what Mahathir wants, and what Mahathir wants, the ministers bloody well do it, wakakaka. Be kuai kuai like Guan Eng, wakakaka again.

Mahathir as PM is not just the traditional primus inter pares (first among equals). With him, there is and can be no equal, wakakaka.

But for Maszlee to accuse the opposition of politicising the issue is plain bullshit. It wasn't the opposition who promised loan takers it would defer re-payment of PTPTN loans until they earn more than RM4000 a month. It was Pakatan and a Pakatan politicised promise.

Stop blaming others and start fulfilling your Pakatan promises, instead of merely capati-ing them.

Return of the Aerodynamicists 2018

In Malaysiakini we read about MIC offers to teach PKR how to conduct party polls where:

MIC has bags bags of experience at holding party polls so much so we can make chairs and tables fly through the air
see my 2015 post Return of the Aerodynamicists
wakakaka

MIC deputy president SK Devamany today offered to teach PKR how to conduct a smooth party election.

According to Devamany, this is because MIC has more experience conducting its internal polls.

"Although PKR is not a part of BN, I am saddened by what happened during its party election.

"I am ready to share our experience with PKR so the party can conduct its elections in a smoother way in the future," he told Malaysiakini.

Devamany was responding to reports that PKR was forced to suspend and postpone nine out of 15 division elections in Kedah earlier today following technical errors in its e-voting system.

Election committee secretary Ismail Yusoff told Malaysiakini that problems with the e-voting system had triggered "tensions" among members who came to cast their votes this morning
.

In my 2015 post Return of the Aerodynamicists (wakakaka again) I had then wrote of:

... another party [ie. to MIC] wakakaka, which not only have blackouts in its polling station during party election (eat your heart out EC, wakakaka), total votes counted at a station exceeding the number of party members who voted there, wakakaka (eat your heart out, Raja Bomoh), but also flying chairs and tables during the counting process (eat your hearts out, Orville and Wilbur Wright, wakakaka).

I was then referring to PKR.

Let's see what happened today

From FMT:

In Penang, a heated argument quickly turned into punches and chair-throwing at a press conference last night to update members on the polls

A group of PKR members were upset when the party officials announced that the election results in Penang would stand despite complaints on alleged irregularities in its e-voting system

Thanks to MIC Devamany for lesson to PKR on conducting polls, wakakaka

BEST political statement 2018 (28)

MM Online - ‘Gross mentality’, KJ says about basing marriageability on menstruation:

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin slammed today a tweet that said menstruation indicated a girl’s maturity and readiness for marriage.

“A girl who has her period is considered mature and ready for marriage..Age is not the real issue..Its simple and its plain,” Twitter user@suhailalia1 said in Malay.

Khairy retweeted the tweet and said: “Gross mentality”.

The Twitter user was responding to the former Umno Youth leader’s criticism of Sabah Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar’s proposal to reduce the legal age of marriage to 14 and 16 for Muslim girls and boys respectively.

“Madness. Jangan pula ada yang cakap ‘don’t question Mufti’ ‘pergi belajar agama’ etc. This is madness. Plain and simple,” Khairy said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail insisted yesterday that the government will raise the minimum age of marriage to 18, after another child marriage case in Kelantan was reported, this time involving a 15-year-old wedded to a 44-year-old man
.

I deem KJ's tweet of 'Gross mentality' in response to the moronic tweet about basing marriageability on menstruation as the BEST political statement thus far in 2018.

Malaysia is a nation of human beings, not base monsters.

Teaching them young about justified killings

MM Online - Islamic Studies revision book justifies death sentence on apostates:

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — An Islamic Studies revision book for secondary school students reportedly rationalises executing apostates who leave Islam, according to Siti Kasim.

The activist highlighted a passage from “Focus SPM Pendidikan Islam Tingkatan 4 5” published by local publisher Pelangi that allegedly cited reasons for the death sentence on Muslims who leave the faith, like warning people that Islam cannot be toyed with, preventing apostates from influencing other Muslims, and preventing acts of degrading Islam.

“Since the news about wife beating came out, a Form 5 Student inbox me and showed me this.... Now, you tell me whether this is right or wrong?

“Please Dr Maszlee Malik @maszlee, you really need to look into the Agama Islam syllabus. This is horrendous!” Siti posted on Facebook today.

The Islamic Studies revision book for Form Four and Form Five students is touted as a Pelangi bestseller on its cover.

Siti earlier highlighted a question in a September/ October 2018 model examination paper for the Form Five Islamic Studies subject, issued by the Selangor Education Department, on how to beat a “disobedient” wife.

Students were asked to write a third answer besides the provided answers of “Not too much until it causes injury” and “Not on sensitive parts”.

“Is this what our Malay children learning in school?? What is this Dr Maszlee Malik @maszlee? Is this acceptable? What kind of trash are we teaching the kids in school?” Siti posted on Facebook yesterday
.

I need to make very clear that the issue raised by sweetie Siti Kasim is about our education system and not the religion per se.

We have gone to the dogs since 1981 more so in 2001 and 2002 when Lim Kit Siang railed about the 929 and 617 Declarations made by Mahathir (them PM).

Then Mahathir declared that Malaysia was not just an moderate Islamic state but an Islamic fundamentalist state.

The ironically hypocritical stuff about Mahathir is he didn't approve of his wife Siti Hasmah wearing a tudung (as revealed by Siti Hasmah herself).

Anyway that day many rushed out to change their sarong (including kebaya), baju Melayu and baju kurung for jubahs, tudungs, etc.

Wikipedia informs us that: Although wearing the hijab, or tudung, is not mandatory for women in Malaysia, some government buildings enforce within their premises a dresscode which bans women, Muslim and non-Muslim, from entering while wearing "revealing clothes".

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 ― The Rela officer responsible for making a woman don a sarong to receive service at a Road Transport Department (RTD) office has been awarded a “letter of appreciation” as a morale booster.
