Penang's CM Koh KT's testimony for Khairy J

In response to Dr Mahathir's allegations that Khairy Jamaluddin had rang up menteri2 besar (state premiers) to order them around, the NST published the following testimonial from Penang’s chief minister Koh TK, who incidentally is a firm favourite of UMNO.

(unedited)

Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon yesterday shot down allegations that Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin interfered with the State Government’s policy decisions.

He also dismissed claims that Khairy had telephoned him to issue directives. Koh said Khairy did call him, but only to discuss political and personal issues.

"Our discussions are about personal or political issues like political strategies or responding to issues. I give my viewpoints and he gives his."

Koh was commenting on allegations that Khairy had telephoned Menteris Besar and Chief Ministers to issue instructions and that he had interfered in administrative matters.

Koh said he had known Khairy since 1995 when the former interviewed him for an article which was published in the United Kingdom for Malaysian students.

"I knew him before Abdullah became the Prime Minister ... our communication is only about personal and political issues, no directives or orders."

I am glad that Koh TK has taken the trouble to indicate his 10-year old relationship with Khairy Jamaluddin, when Khairy was then only 20.

That clearly explains why in recent times when Khairy’s telephoned him, as in the NST's report 'Koh said Khairy did call him, but only to discuss political and personal issues', it wasn't to issue him (Koh) with any directives.

Phewww! Thanks Tan Sri Datuk Koh.
