London under Attack - Kismet

Kismat or kismet, a Persian word meaning the Will of Allah, has been absorbed into English lexicon, to signify destiny or fate.

T’was the kismet of five Australians caught in an explosion in London on Thursday morning. They had been trying to get onto the Tube but because of the explosions occurring at 3 underground locations which paralysed the Subway system, were evacuated and redirected to a bus.

Guess which bus it was?

Yes, you are right. Bus No 30, the bus that was blown apart, probably by a suicide-bomber. All required medical treatment, with 2 still in critical conditions.

This was the account of what had occurred to one of them:

"She was coming out of the railway station. She felt the rush of wind coming out of the tunnel. She stepped on the bus and not much longer [after] she got on the bus and the bus exploded on her. She was on the back platform of the bus. She's got 10 stitches in her head, fairly solid burns to her body, her neck is injured and then she had an operation this morning to remove shrapnel from her leg. She was lucky she had a leather jacket that protected her."

Easterners believe in an avoidable meeting with one’s destiny, if Fate demands so.

Kismat, Destiny, Fate, Karma, Nasib, Mialee, Sh*t luck.
