Tony Blair has put in a new spin on the London Bomb attacks. He disingenuously pointed to 9/11 as proof that such terrorist attacks had nothing to do with the British participation in the attack and occupation of Iraq. He reminded the British people that 9/11 happened before the war against Iraq.
Indeed 9/11 happened before the illegal invasion of Iraq, but Blair himself needs to be reminded that similarly Britain was not targeted by the Islamist terrorist before 9/11 or even later, up till the illegal assault on Iraq, a war the world condemned and the UN disapproved.
9/11 had to do with al Qaeda’s beef with the USA, in the latter’s military presence in Saudi Arabia, a land considered holy and sacred to the Wahhabis. Osama wanted the rulers of Saudi Arabia to expel the American military from Saudi Arabia immediately after the 1st Gulf War. When that didn’t happen, he considered it as an act of treachery, and set out to destroy the Saudi royal house.
Osama considers the USA as the greatest threat to Islam and the Islamic nations of the Middle-East. He resents American presence and domination in his own backyard.
Osama bin Laden was already attacking the Americans at various places even prior to 9/11. Remember the bomb attacks on the USN ship USS Cole at Yemen and the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, Africa?
London has been attacked precisely because of Britain’s participation in the invasion and occupation of Iraq, a country whose people had very little time for the likes of Osama bin Laden. But trust the American military to turn that around within a few months, when suddenly a large number of Sunni Iraqis were regarding the terrorists of al Qaeda differently as saviours against an occupying army.
In fact Blair knows just that, but when you are a prime minister who has consigned British troops to an illegal and unjustified war that was based on a pack of lies, and a number of your troops and air force personnel had perished needlessly, and that tragedy was followed by attacks on British soil, killing more British, what the hell could you say?
Are you going to say:
“I am sorry. I shouldn’t have join the US in that illegal war, for oil and American interests, and indirectly, enhanced Israeli security. I should have followed my predecessors' wise examples when they smartly declined the US' urgings to join the Americans in Vietnam."
"I accept responsibility for fibbing about Saddam Hussein's 45-minutes WMD capability. I regret my actions, which had resulted not only in our Service people dying in the flower of their manhood and tragically for our (Bush's and my) lies, but innocent Iraqi civilians as well. Some have been maimed so badly that they will forever be denied the joys of a full healthy life."
"I apologise for making an Iraq that is in fact far worse off than it has ever been. I am utterly repentent over the whole range of issues which, as many people including my former Police Chief have stated, would result in the inevitability of a revenge attack on our people in Britain. I plea to the families of the innocent victims of the London bombings for forgiveness.”
But please don't hold your breath waiting for such a confession, not when you have a mouth like Blair with an super-ego to go with it, believing you can continue to bullsh*t your way through into messiah-dom.
