Israel and Greece Sign $3.6 Billion Air Defense Agreement, Forming “Achilles Shield” Against Turkey and Iran

 

Greece and Israel are set to sign agreements Monday for a multibillion-dollar integrated air defense network known as “Achilles’ Shield,” following approval of the program by Greece’s top foreign affairs and defense council in July. Greece’s ANA-MPA news agency said the agreements would be signed in Tel Aviv and valued the program at just over €3 billion.

The system will combine Israeli-made air and missile defense technology, including Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ SPYDER and David’s Sling systems and Israel Aerospace Industries’ Barak MX. The network is intended to provide Greece with layered defenses against aircraft, drones, rockets and missiles.

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said in July that Achilles’ Shield would be fully operational within 35 months and that Greek companies would produce at least 25% of the system. Deliveries are expected to take place in stages.

The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday that the agreement is valued at about $3.6 billion. At that value, the newspaper reported, it would surpass Israel’s $3.5 billion Arrow 3 agreement with Germany signed in 2023 as Israel’s largest defense export deal.

The procurement is part of Greece’s broader military modernization program through 2036. Greece and Israel already cooperate on military training, exercises and defense technology.

GhostofBasedPatrickHenry: Well, it’s official. Greece and Israel are teaming up against Turkey and Iran (and Russia, by extension). I have to say, while I’ve been speculating about this happening for months, I really did think it was a longshot. It just seems very late in the game to make this pivot, but maybe there’s still plenty of game left to play.

I do think this is the beginning of a major rift in Europe that will tear the European Union and NATO apart. I think we will see Ukraine formally join this alliance, and then Greece be pressured to turn their attention north toward “troublesome” neighbors in the Balkans. Places like Serbia that have remained loyal to Russia and Putin over the past 30 years.

Romania and Moldova will likely be pressured into joining this new Judeo-Hellenic alliance, and the political dissidence inside of Romania may prove to be a problem for the globalist regime. If the political opposition is somehow able to gain control of the government, I wouldn’t be surprised to see military intervention (invasion) of Romania.

Then there’s Hungary. While new Prime Minister Peter Magyar has been carrying the globalist regime’s water on many issues, one place where he sharply breaks with his predecessor, Viktor Orban, and that would be on the subject of Israel. Orban was/is an ardent Zionist, and was always ready to prostrate himself before Netanyahu. Magyar has adopted a far more European progressive stance, distancing Hungary from the geopolitical pariah known as Israel—and we all know what happens to world leaders who don’t get along with Israel.

To his credit, Magyar is also moving forward with a major nuclear power plant project that Orban and Putin started nearly 15 years ago. (Construction is only now beginning.)

As for this Greece-Israel storyline, the next immediate thing to look for is Cyprus joining the team. I suspect that Netanyahu’s plan is to instigate a false flag attack in Cyprus and get Turkey all hot and bothered, and ready to strike Israel so that the Zionists can resume their natural posture in the fetal position, feigning eternal victimhood.
