UiTM to receive RM3.08b allocation for 2026: Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says UiTM will receive RM3.08 billion in 2026 to strengthen its academic, economic and social roles.

SHAH ALAM: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) will receive an allocation of RM3.08 billion for 2026, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the government would continue to prioritise UiTM’s development, particularly in strengthening its academic, economic and social roles.

“I want to emphasise that within the Madani Government, attention to the development and growth of UiTM, economically, socially and educationally, is far greater,” he said at the Himpunan Mesra Alumni UiTM Bersama Perdana Menteri here today.



Anwar said the government’s commitment to UiTM should not be viewed merely through a political lens, stressing that the university continued to play an important role in providing opportunities for the Bumiputera community.

“This is not merely a political agenda. In our national political framework, we cannot set aside or marginalise the interests of the majority and the interests of the Bumiputera community represented by UiTM,” he said.


Anwar also announced that the UiTM Jalan Othman campus would be renamed UiTM Tun Arshad Ayub Jalan Othman, in recognition of the late educationist and former ITM director.

He said RM2.5 million had been approved to upgrade the campus.



The Prime Minister said the move was intended to honour Tun Arshad’s contributions to the development of ITM and UiTM.

“Remembering the foundation is not merely about scattering the dust of those who have passed, but about bringing back and rekindling the fire of their struggle and the aspirations of society,” he said.


Anwar also proposed the selection of between seven and 10 UiTM alumni from various disciplines to evaluate the university’s major programmes and recommend areas for improvement.

He said the group could provide input on which disciplines and faculties should be developed, including areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, education and healthcare.

“I want to give an assurance to the alumni today that, to demonstrate my seriousness, I will provide the opportunity and space for you to evaluate every major programme of MARA and UiTM so that it can be improved and strengthened,” he said.

Anwar said the initiative was aimed at strengthening UiTM’s capabilities and developing it into a centre of academic excellence.

He also announced RM200,000 in total contributions to two PAUiTM programmes.

The TUNaS Belia NEET programme will receive RM100,000, while another RM100,000 will be allocated for the Himpunan Mesra Alumni UiTM.
