• Iran warns of retaliatory attacks after US President Donald Trump set a Tuesday deadline for Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz or face raids on its power plants and bridges.

  Six children killed in US-Israeli attacks on Tehran province

  The Fars news agency is reporting that four girls and two boys under the age of 10 were killed in the US-Israeli attacks on the province of Tehran overnight.

  It posted the update referring to an earlier attack on a residential area in the province’s Baharestan County. It had reported that 13 people were killed in that attack.

  Iran’s Zarif ‘reprimanded’ over op-ed in Foreign Affairs

  Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has been issued a reprimand after proposing a roadmap for ending the war in an article in Foreign Affairs magazine, according to the Fars news agency.

  Zarif’s op-ed was “determined to be contrary to national security”, Fars said, without elaborating on the nature of the rebuke.

  In his article, Zarif argued that while prolonging the conflict may be “psychologically satisfying” for Tehran, it would only result in further loss of civilian lives and destruction of infrastructure.

  He wrote that Iran should instead place limits on its nuclear programme and reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for an end to all sanctions.

  More than 10 sites hit in Haifa in latest Iranian attack, no casualties

  We’ve been reporting on another Iranian missile attack on northern Israel.

  According to Channel 12, more than 10 sites were hit in the city of Haifa. The broadcaster published videos and photos of minor damage to buildings and streets, as well as one of a car on fire.

  There were no reports of casualties, it added.

Two dead, 2 still missing after Iranian strike on Haifa

Search and rescue teams have been working through the night, and now, into the early hours of Monday, looking for four people unaccounted for from the same apartment in this block that took the heaviest damage.

We have confirmation from the rescue teams that they’ve now recovered two bodies, with two people still missing.

Authorities say that this building was hit by a single, heavy missile. It destroyed half of it, and the part that was left standing was very unstable, raising the risk of collapse and complicating the search.

Haifa often finds itself on the front line, being the target of Iranian missiles because of its strategic importance, and [it] also sits within the range of Hezbollah rockets fired from across the border in nearby Lebanon.

In fact, while this search was going on, another missile alert was issued because of the fear of an incoming missile from Iran. That alert has since been lifted. Earlier, during the early hours of Monday, three salvoes were detected from Iran, and alerts were issued throughout central parts of Israel. Most of those were intercepted, and others fell in open ground.

The missile that hit Haifa was among one of four salvoes fired by Iran during Sunday. Another of those hit a very important industrial and chemical park, down in the south of Israel, near Beersheba. The concern for authorities is that if this does escalate this week, and if critical infrastructure, including chemical works and petrochemical plants, become targets, then all of these sites will become the front line in this escalating war of missiles between Iran and Israel.
