What's progress on investigation into ministers' violation of MCO?

Malaysiakini:

Amanah: What's the progress on Lenggong do probe?

The authorities must not appear to have double standards in investigating the alleged movement control order (MCO) breach by two politicians on April 17, said Perak Amanah.

In a statement today, Perak Amanah secretary Salman Saleh said it has been more than a week since the incident without any updates from the authorities.

"Perak Amanah is worried this might reflect favouritism and unfairness to the public who were convicted for MCO violations," he said.

Salman was referring to the incident involving Deputy Health Minister Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali and Perak cabinet member Razman Zakaria at a gathering (photo) in Lenggong, Perak.

Noor Azmin had uploaded photographs of the duo sitting cross-legged and eating with their hands during a communal lunch at a tahfiz school.

"It has been more than a week since the incident took place. It is unfortunate for the public that they still don't know the results of the investigation," Salman said.

The Perak Amanah secretary, citing Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah, said all leaders should set a good example.
"The authorities must be fair to all because this country has laws that protect everyone, without any consideration of status," he said.

Both individuals have apologised over the incident and have given statements to the police.

There has been public outcry over the seeming immunity of the movement control order (MCO) by VIPs while the rakyat is handed swift justice in the form of fines or jail stints.

Senior Minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has repeatedly stated that all MCO violators would face the law eventually, regardless of their status.
