Iran’s ‘defensive doctrine has changed’, its defence minister says
Acting Defence Minister Brigadier-General Seyyed Majid Ibn Reza has said Tehran’s message was clear from the UN podium: “Iran’s defensive doctrine has changed.”
In a speech at the UNGA on Wednesday, President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed Iran’s right to defend itself against military attacks while also reiterating Tehran’s readiness for dialogue and a negotiated solution.
In a statement on X, Ibn Reza said, “The production of defensive power commensurate with this doctrine continues apace, and we possess a basket of initiatives and paradigm-shifting, power-generating capabilities. One cannot speak to the Iranian nation in the language of force and threats.”

‘I defended the legitimacy of the Iranian nation at UNGA’: Pezeshkian
The Iranian president says his team changed his speech after hearing the US President Donald Trump address.
“We had a text prepared to deliver, but upon hearing the US President’s speech, our perspective went beyond that draft,” he told the Iranian media.
“I defended the legitimacy of the Iranian nation at the UN General Assembly,” the Iranian president also said, adding: “The Iranian nation – with its deep roots and rich civilisation – cannot be destroyed.”
Pezeshkian said that his speech “sought to articulate the realities of what the US imposes on our nation and the world”, adding that “they act in violation of all international laws and humanitarian frameworks, engaging in nothing but the use of force and inhumane actions”.
