KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and her husband Ramachandran Muniandy have divorced after 18 years of marriage.
Yeoh’s official website states that she married Ramachandran in 2008, shortly before running for public office, and that they have two children, Shay and Kayleigh.
According to the website, their children were born in 2011 and 2013, and the couple divorced in 2026 after 18 years of marriage.
Yeoh is the Segambut Member of Parliament, a seat she first won in the 2018 general election.
She previously served as a two-term Subang Jaya state assemblywoman from 2008 to 2018 and became the first woman to be elected Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly in 2013.
She was appointed Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister in 2018, serving until 2020, before becoming Youth and Sports Minister from 2022 to 2025.
Yeoh was later appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) in December 2025.
Within DAP, Yeoh currently serves as deputy secretary-general, vice-chair of DAP and a committee member of DAP Wanita.
Hannah has been heavily involved in official duties since 2008 - some 18 years. I can believe there have been severe stresses on the marriage, especially since she took up the Federal Territories Minister hot seat.
ReplyDeleteIt is very likely the husband just can't put up anymore with the demands that places on the family life.
A lot of men have high stress jobs that place a lot of demands on personal life. The marriage may survive if the wife is willing to take up more than her share of family duties. Some women accept the trade off in terms of finances and status, a comfortable home, nice car, high social status is an acceptable exchange for some, some don't.
It is very tough the other way round if the wife is the one who has a very demanding job.
