In a public lecture, Prof. Dr. Solehah stated that Malaysia was once submerged during the great flood in the time of Prophet Noah (Nuh A.S.). According to her explanation, the catastrophic flood described in religious traditions may have affected large parts of the world, including regions in Southeast Asia such as present-day Malaysia.

The Great Flood was likely an oral history description of a real event passed down thousands of years, before there was written language, before there were cities.

Following the last Ice Age, rising global sea levels caused the Mediterranean to breach the Bosphorus Strait, causing rapid catastrophic flooding a smaller, freshwater lake with saltwater.
