Amid growing concern over the unexplained disappearance of Pamela Ling, her family’s legal representative has issued a stern warning to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), urging the agency to clarify its role and actions prior to the incident. The lack of response from MACC has drawn sharp criticism, with the family’s lawyer suggesting that legal avenues may soon be pursued to compel the agency to break its silence.
Sangeet Kaur Deo, acting on behalf of the Ling family, expressed frustration over the commission’s continued failure to provide any explanation. She indicated that if the agency refuses to disclose crucial details, especially those that might have helped safeguard Pamela, legal action will be inevitable.
This development comes shortly after the Kuala Lumpur High Court approved Ling’s application for judicial review, which sought to challenge an arrest warrant and imposed travel restrictions initiated by MACC. Notably, this legal move had been submitted before her sudden disappearance.
The family’s legal team has raised serious concerns about the transparency of the investigation. They have questioned whether MACC had kept the police fully briefed about their probe into Ling, suggesting that any omission of critical information could have played a role in compromising her safety.
Sangeet further criticised recent speculation from law enforcement suggesting that Ling may have left the country of her own volition. She dismissed such claims as groundless and argued they only serve to deflect attention from failures in the official response and investigation.
Pamela Ling was last seen on April 9. Reports indicate her e-hailing vehicle, en route to a MACC office, was intercepted by multiple unidentified individuals travelling in several vehicles. Since that day, no communication has been received, and no ransom demands have been made, deepening fears about her fate.
The family's concern has intensified in light of the silence from the authorities, particularly the MACC, whose actions and alleged lack of cooperation are now under public scrutiny. With no resolution in sight, the family’s next steps may see the matter escalated in court, as they seek accountability and answers in a case that continues to unsettle the nation.
