Annuar seems to be parroting DAP, says BN man
Isham Jalil says Annuar Musa must abide by an Umno Supreme Council decision not to extend the MoU beyond July 31.
PETALING JAYA: A Barisan Nasional leader has questioned why Annuar Musa appeared to be “parroting the DAP” in his comments about the political understanding between Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s government and Pakatan Harapan .
Selangor BN information chief Isham Jalil said the Umno Supreme Council had already decided against supporting an extension of the political agreement (MoU) beyond July 31, with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob previously stating the government would follow suit.
“Annuar is not a member of the Supreme Council and must abide by any decision it makes. He should not follow his own whim,” said Isham. “However, his words appear to parrot the comments of PH leaders such as DAP’s Loke Siew Fook.”
Annuar had earlier said the MoU had no expiry date and that what was agreed upon was that the next general election could not be held before July 31.
Loke, who is DAP secretary-general, has previously said that July 31 should not be regarded as a deadline as the government can take additional time to implement the reforms agreed upon in the MoU.
Isham said Annuar was part of a select few in BN who did not wish for the next general election (GE15) to be held soon.
He said Annuar, who is the communications and multimedia minister, must put the interests of the rakyat and Umno ahead of clinging onto his ministerial post.
Isham said early elections would halt political instability and restore the economy to a better state.
However Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin said the expiry of the MoU held no importance. Where the party was concerned, he said, was the date of GE15.
On Wednesday, Ismail promised he would not delay calling for GE15 once BN was ready, adding that he would discuss with Umno’s top leadership and the coalition’s leaders about the election date.

Wakakaka... it is a political disaster for an UMNO politician to be tarred as "parroting DAP"
