PKR’s Farhash eyes Faizal’s Tambun seat in GE15
Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said there were calls for him to take on the youth and sports minister but he will let the party decide.
PETALING JAYA: Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has confirmed that he will be contesting a parliamentary and state seat in the next general election (GE15).
Besides the Tambun parliamentary seat, held by youth and sports minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu, the Kuala Kangsar seat held by Barisan Nasional’s Mastura Mohd Yazid, who is also a deputy minister in the prime minister’s department, is an option, he said.
“There were suggestions for me to contest against Faizal but the party has to make the final decision.
“I will challenge any political heavyweight, except the Bagan Datuk incumbent Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is Umno president, as he is considered too strong,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
Farhash said, as the state party chief, he had discussed this matter with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, who suggested “two or three places” for him to contest, but he added that it was still too early to make any decision.
“We still need to discuss with our component parties in Pakatan Harapan (PH),” he said, adding that the party’s election machinery has started its groundwork to prepare for GE15.
Asked on the possibility of him being named as PH’s Perak menteri besar candidate in the run-up to GE15, Farhash brushed this aside saying it was secondary to the party’s priority of capturing Perak.
