Scott Morrison 30th (new) PM of Australia |
SYDNEY: Scott Morrison was sworn in as Australia’s seventh prime minister in 11 years Friday after a stunning party revolt against Malcolm Turnbull, which the new leader admitted had left the government “bruised and battered.”
Former home affairs minister Peter Dutton, an ex-police officer and right-winger, was the driving force behind the move to oust Turnbull after a Liberal Party backlash against his more moderate policies.
But after a torrid week of political manoeuvring in Canberra it was Morrison, a Turnbull ally who served as treasurer, who won a party vote 45-40. He was officially sworn in as Australia’s 30th prime minister late Friday in a ceremony in the capital.
Environment minister Josh Frydenberg – who was elected as the deputy Liberal leader – was sworn in as treasurer.
Peter Dutton very right-wing, wannabe PM but stuffed out by moderates, though he has a formidable and dangerously lurking very right-wing faction |
Malaysiakini - Writing the wrongs of the ‘right’ by Dean Johns (extracts):
Don’t worry, Malaysiakini readers. I’m not about to bore you rigid about the recent riotous and ridiculously failed attempt by the ‘far-right’ wing of Australia’s current government and its attack-dogs in the mongrel media to rid themselves of a prime minister who was too moderate for their tastes and replace him with one of their own.
But I can’t resist at least briefly expressing my elation at the fact that the victory of the at least middling Scott Morrison over the dire Peter Dutton and his political and media accomplices appears to be yet another promising sign that the wrongs of the rabid ‘right’ are coming back to bite them, and with a vengeance.
Dean Johns is right in that most Australians are happy Scott Morrison beat Peter Dutton in the Liberal Party spill to be the new PM.
A Peter-Dutton win would have seen the National Party, the coalition partner of the quarrelling Liberal Party, leave the Coalition in disgust and anger (and in that process, fCking up the ruling party's hold on the government).
Australians are damn mad with the selfish antics of the Liberal Party's far right to seize power in the ruling party and its influential far right media, including the press and media of influential Rubert Murdoch.
The outgoing PM, Malcolm Turnbull, was too moderate for their liking, even though under his government the economy is robust with strong jobs growth, and the budget was returning to balance.

Malcolm Turnbull - 29th PM Australia |
The three principal issues leading to Turnbull's ouster by his ultra right-wing colleagues have been:
(a) immigration (especially about Middle-East & African asylum seekers),
(b) energy with regards to Turnbull's original commitment to the Paris Talk on climate change (which the ultra right in his Liberal Party was against as they wanted to continue with massive use of coal),
(c) and the most important and poisonous of all, his arch-foe Tony Abbot who was all about politically 'finishing off' Malcolm Turnbull.
Tony Abbot - 28th PM of Australia |
Abbott’s motive was vicious, vindictive, vengeanceful which reminds me of a certain "someone" at home, wakakaka. As the Australian press said of Abbot: Abbott was consumed by a visceral, vengeful rage against Turnbull.
Labor had already experienced that destructive model of intra-party vengeance when Kevin Rudd plotted against his successor, Julia Gillard.
Kevin Rudd - 26th PM of Australia |
Julia Gillard - 27th PM of Australia |
The Sydney Morning Herald said: Abbott’s anger drove him to persist in tormenting Turnbull even when it started to work against him, discrediting him in the eyes of his frustrated colleagues. But Abbott’s destabilising was an important precondition to this week’s upending of the Turnbull government.
Abbott’s attacks on Turnbull were compulsive, not career-minded. The former prime minister ended up getting the satisfaction he sought – the destruction of the prime minister who had destroyed his prime ministership. So for Abbott, vengeance has been sealed. Has the cycle of recrimination ended?
What's the difference between the two destructive former PMs, Rudd and Abbot?
Rudd wanted very very much for people to like him as PM, whilst Abbot wondered why people don't like him at all, wakakaka.
Anyway, though Turnbull gave way somewhat to the demands of the right-wing's demand on energy, he was decent enough to resist moving across to the far right of his party to discriminate against asylum seekers.

Peter Dutton and his far right bloc wanted to stop influx, especially of Middle-East and African migrants, though Dutton wanted to confer "special attention" to White South African farmers who wanted to migrate to Australia.
By the way, the new PM, Scott Morrison is a Hallelujah bloke belonging to the Pentecostal Church, but he said in his maiden speech as the 30th PM of Australia:
"In recent times it has become fashionable to negatively stereotype those who profess their Christian faith in public life as ‘extreme’ and to suggest that such faith has no place in the political debate of this country."
"Australia is not a secular country — it is a free country. This is a nation where you have the freedom to follow any belief system you choose. Secularism is just one. It has no greater claim than any other on our society."
Julie Bishop quits as Foreign Minister and will likely retire from Parliament
widely admired, Australian public wanted her as PM but her party sidelined her served Australia very well as Foreign Minister & DPM |
A phyric victory, as Australians are likely in the mood to change the Government in the coming election.
ReplyDeleteMalcolm Turnbull's fall was overall due to being a liberal in a conservative Liberal Party. They went along with him as long as he remained popular with the public, then dumped him when we wasn't.
Some similarities to the political right wings in Racism and religious bigots ie UMNO and PAS.
ReplyDeleteThe rot started when other liberals and minorities who were represented by lapdogs ie MCA, MIC, PPP, SUPP, LDP, STAR, PBS, PBDS etc did nothing to stop the right wings and stem the erosion of Constitutional rights given to other minorities.
Now with a new PH Govt., also another coalition Govt. seems more balanced and protective of everyone's rights.
And the change came about only when Malaysians found their right wingers and lapdogs leaders to be the most corrupted and selling off everyone's rights.
Wow.. 7th PM in 11 years compared to 7th PM in 62 years. That's really cool man.
ReplyDeleteNo its not. Aussies are sick & tired of this constant change in PMs like musical chairs. Both sides of the divide has their fair share of backstabbing predecessors who in turn got backstabbed by their successors. Hohohoho!
DeleteThe ousters weren't justified by any major issues but for the ambitions of politicians both pasts and successions (reminds you of anyone here? Double hohohoho!).
Because of this, them Aussies are tuned off from politics & their government. At least they don't suffer politic zombiesm like Malaysians here & abroad. Triple hohohoho!
Morons can't read!
DeleteThe Ozzies r tired bcoz the change in pmship happens within the ruling party NOT due to change of govt?
Real rd fart!
Again I commend CK for not reading and his stubborn refusal to learn anything. A true know-nothing worth his salt.
DeleteWhile Abbot-Turnbull-Morrison was from Liberal Party, guess who were the government before them? The Labour Party, you dimwit!
And guess what happened then? Gillard backstabbed Rudd which lead to him backstabbing Gillard, which caused the Labour falling during elections.
The Aussies were tired of that and thought a change of party will make things different, but as the saying goes "The more things change, the more they stay the same".
So read before you fart again!
RD!!
DeleteRead WHAT u have written lah!
Or is yr hand writes faster than yr brain (is there one?)
This blog is getting consumed by real farts from retards!
You only echo in your own know-nothing chamber of solitude. I got nothing more to say to you except, RD b4 you far again!!!
