ST Tian Chua or S&M Tian Chua

In Lim KS: "AAB launching Ops Lalang II?" I wrote:

15 anti-toll hike protestors outside the IOI shopping mall in Puchong were arrested a couple of days ago. Among those arrested were PAS Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub, PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah, Tian Chua and PKR former Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor.

Tian Chua was of course right in his favourite element, that is, of being ‘arrested. I get the feeling he has a wee inclination towards martyr-dom.

Yes, Tian Chua seemed to be a martyr wannabe. He first came to my attention when I was watching TV with a girl some years ago (yes, the programme was actually worthwhile), when there was a report of Tian Chua being hauled away by the police.

She sneeringly commented on Tian Chua as a hopeless bloke who might even be a closeted masochist, always putting himself into harm’s way with the police. Bloke had been water-cannoned, shoved, elbowed, dragged, bashed etc. I did feel sorry for him but alas, the girl's disdain steeled my heart against any sympathies. I knew where my ... er ... priorities lie.

Does Tian Chua have a death wish? Dr KT Freud would love to study his childhood experience.

Does he want to be a martyr or is he, as my friend suggested, a closeted masochist?

This is what malaysiakini just wrote on him, with a headline saying Tian Chua - Bold or reckless?

He has lost count of the number of times he has been arrested. He was also detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for two years for allegedly attempting to overthrow the government through militant means.

Some admire his boldness, others say he is reckless. Meet Tian Chua.

Unlike other opposition leaders, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information bureau chief has a tendency to attract media coverage for all the wrong reasons.

Recently, the 43-year-old politician added another ‘feather to his cap’ when he was arrested over an attempted murder charge.

Media reports alleged that he had ploughed through a barricade with his car, nearly running over a worker, during a demolition of squatter houses in Kuala Lumpur.

But Chua denied this and is mulling a law suit against the police and media for defamation.
I have no doubt that he is sincere in a martyr-ish way. Actually I fear for Tian Chua that one day when he wakes up from his bruises and aches, he realises that all along he has been used by unscrupulous people. That realization, that it had been all for nothing, will be the biggest blow to this wannabe Saint activist or wanton S&M acolyte.

  1. I think he's smarter than that and looking from just The Nasty Pee point of view which goes all out to paint a terrible picture out of the Kg. Berembang incident, it does seem like it. You can seek out the pics of these incidents and check out the OTT(Over The Top) and award-wining performance by the actors and actresses. Alleged 'injured' and innocent developer that 'got stuck' under the car never seek treatment but the first to lodge 'attempt muder' charges. The developers were not suppose to bar/seal the area whilst the court's mulling over the injunction to stop the demolition. It was sealed off with ppl's things still in the house.

In the world of politics, there's no such thing as 'bad' publicity, look at the Semi-Value Gorilla, he's been thumping his hairy fat chest and howling for years, yet that ape is still around.

To the Kg. Berembang folks, TC was a hero and champion but according to The Nasty Pee's version, he's a 'Terrorist' and a Nuisance. Case of us stereotyping all Jews are evil and all Arabs looks like Osama.

Nevetheless another honest dissection from KT and co.
    Carry on. ;)

  2. this might b harsh, but i think he's just getting more and more pathetic.

from vp of keadilan, now he's only the 'propaganda chief'. even then, he's not able to use that position to give himself good publicity.

now, he has to resort to all these attention-seeking obnoxious tricks, which make him look little different from being a CLOWN. or simply a freak.

i'm sure he's a good man, but if he really is a good LEADER, then he must demonstrate maturity n wisdom. that 'attempted murder' incident showed that he LACKS all these attributes.

i mean, WTF did he expect to do then -- either he was able to reason with the developers or the police, or he was simply going that to CONFRONT these people. how does that help to solve the problem??

if he got arrested bcos of peaceful demonstration against the government, or breach of OSA, then he's a REAL hero, worthy of our salute.

learn from lim kit siang, my child. talk n act like a leader with courage AND BRAIN.

but driving his car into the gate??? that makes him look reckless, 'chong dong', lost his cool, unable to control his frustration or think rationally. (yes, i know some said he was 'urged on' by the villagers sitting in his car but hey, this is NOT something a LEADER would do. he looked more like a stupid FOLLOWER to me.)

who was he anyway, y would keadilan 'rely' on him to b the 'chinese figurehead'? i never heard of him before he joined keadilan. he just doesn't have the leadership 'aura' or 'charisma' to get my vote.
