The US and its encirclement of China policy is on track, abetted by a worried but unrepentant (over WWII atrocities) Japan. Australia as ‘deputy sheriff’ has to tag along.
The USA continues to employ its old encirclement policy against its enemies, real or imagined. It did that with the USSR (now Russia) and now it wants to do that with China. Its usual recruitment of allies against its threat sees its foreign policy change to accommodate India and Vietnam, both of whom were previously considered by the USA as political non-friendly.
