Lawyer claims MCMC blocked FB post criticising Yeoh over Asia Mobiliti

A lawyer has claimed that one of his Facebook posts on the Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd (Asia Mobiliti) issue has been blocked due to a legal request from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Shamsher Singh Thind questioned if Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching was involved in the matter.
This is as she had defended Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh against alleged nepotism in the Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) programme involving the company linked to Yeoh’s husband, he said.
“My post has been blocked in Malaysia. DAP always talks about open tenders, so of course I asked what was open about the DRT scandal as there was no tender. Was that wrong?
“I know, Teo, you strongly defended Yeoh. And I know that you’re the deputy communications minister with power over MCMC.
“So I want to ask you, did you use a government agency like MCMC to close the mouths of those who criticise your friends in your party and cabinet?” Shamsher (above) wrote on Facebook.

Asia Mobiliti was appointed as one of the two companies to run the bus-on-demand trial pilot project for nine months. Its CEO is Yeoh’s husband Ramachandran Muniandy.
On May 29, Teo reportedly said that calls for Yeoh to resign over the matter were “unfair”, adding that it was too early for the latter to do so.
That same day, Bernama reported Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairperson Ng Sze Han as saying that Asia Mobiliti’s appointment was done through a request for proposal and not through direct negotiation as alleged.
Asia Mobiliti said everything was done above board and is considering legal action against those casting aspersions about the appointment process.
Another Asia Mobiliti co-founder, Premesh Chandran, is the director and former CEO of Malaysiakini.
Manifesto promise on draconian laws
Shamsher pointed out that Pakatan Harapan had promised to abolish draconian laws in the party’s manifesto, rhetorically asking if the laws had already been revoked.
The 27th manifesto promise to “abolish oppressive laws” states that Harapan would abolish tyrannical laws previously abused by BN for political gain.
Shamsher added that he will be sending a letter to Facebook to verify the legal request that the social media company had received.
Malaysiakini has contacted the MCMC for comment.
On June 1, Yeoh said she welcomed the MACC probe into the DRT project.
She said that it would not be appropriate for her to comment on the matter as it may be construed as an interference with ongoing investigations.

DR. SHAMSHER SINGH THIND
18 hours agoTu dia, post saya dah kena blocked di Malaysia. DAP selalu cakap pasal open tender, so saya pun tanyalah apa yang di-opennya dalam skandal DRT ini kerana tender kan tak ada. Salahkah?
Saya tau, Teo Nie Ching (张念群), kamu kaw kaw telah mempertahankan Hannah Yeoh.
