Man astonished to find friend’s apartment ‘taken over’ by foreigners
The trespassers even managed to get water and electricity supplied to the unit in Puchong.
The foreigners who trespassed and lived in the vacant apartment in Puchong demanded proof from the owner's friend that he was authorised to represent the owner, says the man who shared the experience on social media. Srilabu Kedah-Facebook pics.
A MAN who was assisting a friend to put up his vacant apartment for sale was taken aback to find that the unit had been “invaded” by a group of foreigners who made it their cosy little home.
Sharing this experience on social media, the individual said that he found out about this when he was entrusted to check on the condition of the apartment before they went about advertising it to prospective buyers.
"Recently, a friend of mine asked me to help him sell his apartment in Puchong. So he told me to handle everything,” said the man with user ID ‘Srilabu Kedah’ in a posting on Facebook.
The owner had not stayed there and had kept the unit vacant since he bought it over a decade ago, partially because he preferred to live in his village on the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.
"I had gone there to see what the condition of the house was like,” narrated the man, who resides in Seremban 2. He explained that the owner had sent the key over by mail.
“I was astonished to find that there was a group of foreigners living inside although the owner of the house maintained that he had never rented it to anyone since he bought it more than ten years ago," he said.
Srilabu Kedah added that the people who took over the unit without permission should not have done so. "I think this is too much," he remarked.
"It was really brazen of them to break into someone's house like that. We ourselves would not dare to do something like this. They had entered but we did not even know about it.”
What was additionally astounding was that the trespassers were enjoying all the necessary utilities, including free power supply.
They drew water from the house next door, and somehow managed to get connected to gain electricity supply without paying.
When he demanded an explanation from them, the group’s head revealed that they had not paid rent for a long time, and no one had bothered them before.
Audaciously, they demanded evidence that the man’s friend was the rightful owner of the apartment, he shared.
"They even asked for proof from me that I was the owner’s representative. What has become of my Malaysia?" he exclaimed.
Srilabu Kedah stressed that he was sharing the experience for the public to be aware of such an occurrence.
"I have asked the owner of the house to lodge a police report and I will also report to the immigration authorities," he said.
