'People there always pure' - Umno's Shahrir sneers at PAS leaders
Umno veteran Shahrir Samad has taken a cynical jab at PAS leaders who are always “pure” even though Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar was on holiday abroad when the state was hit by heavy floods.
Shahrir added that PAS leaders opposed the idea of holding the 15th general election (GE15) during the flood season, but it is also possible for PAS leaders to go on vacation when the people are facing calamities.
“The people there (PAS) are always pure and clean.
“Their gang is so concerned about the flood that they don’t want a general election.
“But it is also possible to go on holiday during the flood,” he wrote in a Facebook post today.
Yesterday, former Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam revealed that Ahmad Samsuri was on holiday with his family in Auckland, New Zealand when a major flood hit the state under his administration.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar
According to Lokman, Ahmad Samsuri and his wife left for Auckland on Dec 11 and are only expected to return today (Dec 22).
State executive councillor Hanafiah Mat confirmed that the Terengganu menteri besar is abroad.
However, Hanafiah, who is in charge of welfare, women and family development, and national unity, was of the opinion that no issue has arisen regarding flood management in the state.
The situation was under control, he said, even though the menteri besar was absent.
He explained further that he was very satisfied with all parties helping flood victims in Terengganu.
The Secretariat of the Terengganu Disaster Management Committee said the number of flood victims in the state continued to increase from 36,009 people at 12 midnight last night to 36,231 people this morning.
