Why one DPM when we can have two, UMNO mocks Muhyiddin
WITH Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin demanding more Government posts as cost of living soars, an UMNO leader jested that the Prime Minister should appoint two deputy prime ministers (DPM) from the coalition instead.
“We should have two DPM’s from Perikatan Nasional. One from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and the other from PAS.
“The country desperately needs the new leaders to come up with fresh ideas to help the PM, using both positions.
“After all, we still have a long way to go before a general election is called,” said UMNO supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
Two days ago, Muhyiddin said that he had met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently to discuss about several Government appointments; which includes a DPM, ministers and new directors at Government-linked companies (GLC).
“I didn’t ask for anything new as this was promised to Perikatan some time back,” the Pagoh MP was reported a saying.
However, Muhyiddin’s statement received brickbats from various quarters, with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak saying that this was not the time to ask for more posts given the people are struggling with inflationary pressure. – July 4, 2022
There should be a Chinese DPM as well, plus one from East Malaysia.
