Audio surfaces suggesting PAS leader disgruntled at Hadi

An audio clip suggesting disgruntlement within the PAS top leadership against party president Abdul Hadi Awang’s alleged affinity for Perikatan Nasional has surfaced.

Yesterday, a one-minute-52-second recording allegedly of a PAS central committee member was posted on Facebook.

The post referred to the leader simply as “Dr T”.

In the clip, the speaker appeared to lament Hadi’s views about PN and BN.

“Tok Guru (Hadi) is holding on to the view of a survey that showed PN was on the rise and BN was falling.

“But he (Hadi) said we need to celebrate Umno as well because it has grassroots support.

“Tok Guru always repeats this in his speech, but he does not show it in practice. That is why we are upset,” the voice was heard saying.

In another portion of the clip, the speaker sounded dissatisfied at Hadi’s alleged tendency to change his mind.

“This is why I recently called Tok Guru to go to Kenyir. My group [...] deliberately forced Tok Guru to listen to a briefing from us.

“(We showed him) this is a PAS seat, this is an Umno seat, this is a Bersatu seat. If we want to win, we need to add seats. If we want to win, the condition is we get 23 seats.

“After that, he (Hadi) was not firm about this and Tok Guru kept changing his stance,” the voice said.

Malaysiakini has contacted the alleged PAS leader involved for comment and is not able to independently verify the authenticity of the audio recording.

It bears noting that the Facebook post where the recording surfaced appeared critical of this Dr T.

The post accused Dr T of trying to usurp Hadi and hinted at more exposés incriminating the former.

This is not the first time claims of divisions within the Islamist party have surfaced.

Back in 2019, PAS had joined forces with Umno and established the Muafakat Nasional pact.

This alliance came into question following the breakdown of ties between Umno and Bersatu.

This was especially after PAS continued to support Bersatu and the PN administration.

Since then, both Umno and PAS have emerged divided over support for Bersatu.
