“Pray for funds!”: Netizens pan PAS’ donation drive for the upcoming Melaka polls



TWO days ago, PAS treasurer Datuk Iskandar Abd Samad urged their members and supporters to donate funds for the upcoming Melaka state polls.

He said that with the state having 28 seats, PAS had decided to contest seats where UMNO and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) are not contesting.

“We need a lot of money as the state polls will receive attention from across the country as many issues will be played up.

“Therefore, our team needs funds to organise campaigns to address issues raised by the electorate,” the former Selangor state executive councillor was reported saying by Harakah Daily.

However, netizens were unimpressed with the PAS leader’s calls for donation and mocked his statement.

“Sekarang dah jadi kerajaan, gaji dah beratus ribu pun nak minta derma lg ka,x malu ka, pakai Velfire minta derma kat org pakai proton saga…lebai2,” said user Cik Leh.

(You’re now part of the Government, getting salaries touching hundreds of thousands and yet having the cheek to ask for donations. Have you got no shame? You use Vellfire and yet asking money from those driving Proton Saga).



User Paaan added: “Time nak pilihanraya merayu sumbangan. Dah menang nanti tukar Mercedes. Rakyat? Habuk pun takdak.”

(During polls, they will ask for donations. When they win, they will get Mercedez. What about the people? They get nothing!)



The latter was referring to the Kelantan government’s decision to purchase Mercedez Benz S 450 for its state executive councillors last year, despite the state suffering from poverty and unclean water issues.

Kelantan deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah had defended the RM3.5 mil move and even lashed out at critics, asking whether state leaders should be using Perodua Viva instead.

In June, PAS MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz mocked the White Flag Campaign and urged those in destitute to pray to God instead of putting up a white flag outside their homes to seek assistance from the public.

Turning the tables against the jest by the Nik Abduh, user Kayroll Apih urged PAS leaders to pray for funds instead.

“Booo nk prn sebok mengemis..time rakyat susah suruh doa je. Penunggang at its best.”

(Look who’s begging during the polls? When the people were suffering, they told us to pray. Hypocrites at its best)



User Irfan said that PAS leaders should have thought about all these, including the people’s welfare, before spending lavishly on luxury.



“Masa beli keta Mercedes,raptor tak pikir pulak pasal dana2 ni,masa nak tambah bini,ngorat janda takda pulak.skrg duk sibuk minta rakyat derma kat korang..woi,kesian lh sikit kat ahli2 PAS,baru jer dorang tu start niaga balik,kerja balik.tak malu ker korang.dorang bkn kaya cam lu.”

(When they were purchasing Mercedez Benz and Raptors, they never thought of all these but were busy getting more wives and flirting with widows)

(Now, they have the cheek to ask for donations without even thinking about their own impoverished members. They have just started going back to work and reopened their businesses. They are not rich like you guys.)
